Been away for a couple of days to a funeral in another state. As a bit of a "germaphobe" I loath motels. In deciding where I was going to stay, I thought about you and your Prius camping and decided to pack my truck for a "truck camping" experience. The only thing I faced after packing my truck was where I was going to put me. :-) Packed my battery operated lanterns, my battery operated fan, and reflectix for my windows. All in all, had a very positive experience with it.
This is the first of your older videos that I've watched. RVing has never interested me, although I did live and travel around in a modified 1956 Window VW Van, back in the early 1970's when I was in my thirties. I did all the traveling that I ever wanted to do during the years I was an Infantry trooper in the Army stationed in Germany after the II World War. That said, I still enjoy your Video Blogs and your optimistic views on your life. I especially like the views you have concerning health care. Like you, I also don't have any. I'm 82 and haven't been to an M.D. in over 50 years. I take care of myself with clean living and all the information I need to find out about health on this amazing RUclips and people like you. Thanks for your time and energy placed in these, your works of art and skill..
I just stumble across your site. I'm a neighbor. Well a few hundred miles north. I happen to live in Nort TX just above Dallas. I have some land in East TX and have done little with it. You make me want to put something on it. LOL
You said the cat paid a price for scratching the chair ...what did you mean? I have a 16 month old cat that scratches my office chair even though shes gotta scratching post. I would love the peace n quiet you have. What do the numbers after your name mean?
Rusty I was watching so.e older videos I had not seen. An while watching this one. I thought this be cool if you could do something like this there in Capitain. But i remembered they would not allow this. But i did enjoy this setup you had here. Well enjoy your day. I was 2aiting on comment call. So ill check to see if its up by now.im I guess 2 hrs ahead of you here in NC. I always get off balance when time changes with your videos. I am used to by 8am I get them. An then when your not here at that time. Well I get to where Rusty!! Lol but true. Yes I would like to have a place as this. I would be a lucky dawg. Lol
Hola Rusty Tejano, I was born in California and raised in Arizona. Another RUclipsr directed me to you. Tim H via Living in a Van channel. I currently live in Kansas City but when I retire I'm going back out West again.
WOW what a beautiful place to call home. glad that you have a good way of living. I know that usually simple is better. to be able to see the sunrise and sunset would be grand. it is amazing how many stars there really are when one can see them. I hope some day to be able to get back to country living. it is the best way of life as far as I'm concerned. thank you for sharing your home base. great, wonderful, and simple. take care and happy travels. Joyce
I watch you every time u video & listen to what u have to say about Prius camping.I bought one (2013 model) & hope to find a group to camp wth. Thanks for all your videos.Keep them coming---Ft worth,Tx.
It really is a paradise you know. For many on this earth you are very rich. Nice little setup. I plan on having one similar but in NW TN when I grow tired of roaming in my RV or van, if I make it to one in early 2019 or late 2018 God let me have many years before I have to stop and settle down.
Nice place Rusty. I've been wondering how you handle your septic. Where does it go? Also wondered about the advantage of building a enclosed pole building with a big barn fan built high up into the wall and wood/propane stove, where you can park the RV inside and have more protection from the elements and snoopy people. More room for a shop/living area and just odds and ends(like a full size bathroom in the corner. Just expanding on your setup. A bit more money to put together but hey.....It would just look like a farm building and it would be! No one would have to know you lived there. I'm always thinking covert.
We both are lucky. We both like being in the country. Iv thought about getting rain barrels to water gardens. TX ya need rain barrels and where I'm located. Exception in '15, when I got 25" in 28 days! As well Tx got more than usual also in '16 Looks like your green. Appreciate sharing your home base. Jp
Your central Texas address looks like a perfect set-up for a home base. So much better than any RV park. I especially like the natural bushes and trees that provide you with a beautiful privacy screen. I guess it takes a guy a while in life to figure out a set-up like that--low overhead cost, simple, space, quiet, and freedom. If we only knew at age 20 what we know now, huh?
Nice place. I'm looking to get the hell out of California in the near future and would like a setup like you have. Not sure where it's gonna be yet. Tks for the video. Peace.
Love your videos! I'm a new subscriber. 60 y/o female living alone in a small south Georgia town...ready to LEAVE!!! It's hot and humid here, too...with BUGS! If I can sell my house(aka "the money pit"), decide on my RV and unload a lifetime of furniture, china, books, etc. etc....I'm going to hit the road and never look back! My favorite part of the country is the Northern California coast and Oregon...breathtaking! We never see snow down here...hardly even a change of seasons. Speaking of change...I NEED ONE! Thanks for your videos.
Your home-base is awesome !!! I’m going to get some type of van or TT and start traveling. One day, I’m going to sell my house and relocate my home base house or RV of some type
Nice video, Sir Rusty. Upon retirement in about a year, my wife and I have toyed with the idea of something similar to your setup. The difference being two pieces of property. One up north for summers and one down south for winter. Any thoughts you may have on that would be most welcome. Thank you.
Great video I really like the home base set up its very nice . I wish I had the same sup as you do very lucky. Thumbs up as always. Enjoy a cold one buddy !
Very beautiful..Love the open country side all the tree's and birds..You need a hummingbird feeder ..Coyote are all over where i work watch out when they have their young..The Coyote mother thinks she owns the land and you are not invited..lol
Thank you. VERY NICE. Do you get many birds? What kind. Do the geese fly over? They do here, spring and fall. I like the spring ones, knowing it will warm up soon. Did you see on tube, the Orville dam in Ca? Going to breech soon. Big. Why do men cluster? Are you dicussing how to fix it or what? or thinking? hoping someone has an answer.? This is a question I always wonder about, when I see it happen. Usually around 5 men. night. :-)
Nice...makes me jealous for the simple life....kinda stuck in our 'sticks 'n bricks' for now...hopefully it won' be long and we can leave all this 'stuff' behind.
I find that land in medina county west of San antonio, Texas...running at about $10,000 an acre. pretty pricy. The other issue is the huge expense for a well as the drilling can be 1,000 feet deep before getting water.
I'm with you Rusty, about RV roof ac. Expensive and noisy. RV makers should use the Japanese mini split units, super quiet and efficient, and cheaper than roof units! Nice place there! TEXAS.
I have a double wide home on an acre and a half. I made a small apartment for us and will rent out the three bedroom side so they can maintain my property while I am gone. I live on a dirt road.

HI Rusty, I just discovered you RUclips channel today. You really have some great ideas that I will need to learn from you. I am about your same age and this HOME Base is what I want to do. I live in Florida and just need someplace to have an address, electric and a place to go when I am not in my RV that I have not yet purchased. How do you tow the trailer? Love you channel.
What are you using to cover the vents with to keep the insects out? Do you ever find areas around your RV where wasps are trying to build up nests? If so, how do you remedy that?
Hi Rusty 78609 I'm kinda new to your channel watch d a while back just scrolling along on utube I remember you videoing tiny houses anyways do you own properties it sounds like you do and one is your home base I am wondering if you rent out your property or lease it to people who want a home base but live most ly full-time me in their vehicle just to ant a tiny plac and o hunker down during winter season have a great day Rusty
Hi Rusty, I am in love with your channel it is so imformative, and just love your personality. I am in Universal City, Texas next to San Antonio. I miss tx. Lived from 77 to 82 then 85 til 89 in San Antonio and Universal City. Lackland and Randolph. AFB. Now my brother is in TX can't remember the city broken branch or something. Lol near Tyler I think not sure. He has lots of land and I may try to buy an acre or two and move out there and RV live. Lol. Peace rusty!

I am thinking really the only choice is to live out of a van someday soon and have a trailer with it so my dad and I can live together on the road. I have looked up many choices that do not seem to be choices such as finding a small plot of land where I can do as you have but then all I see is all this zoning stuff, permits, laws and more money etc. Do you have any laws telling you that you have to have a sceptic in, or you have to have this or that? Hi, Rusty. Now I've never done this before(commented). So if u receive it please acknowledge on ur comment calls. I'm really thinking about this camping stuff. Just have to find something that I cannot pull behind a Dodge Grand Caravan. Don't want a teardrop tho. Any ideas. Thanx much . Nancy E. Astatula, FL
Hey Rusty, I am 72 and I really identify with your life style. I have a question for you, now I just came upon your youtupe so If you talked about this in the past, please excuse me. Why don't you have Texas as your winter palace and find someplace in the mountains like Pagosa Springs, Co as your summer location? To give you some idea where I am at, my wife and I are in the process of acquiring an RV and we are struggling with what kind: a Travel Trailer or a Class C. I already have a Jeep wrangler to tow. We want to travel the National Parks and intend to boondock a lot. Any Insight for us? I like your style and have subscribed. Best wishes, Rich
Aw I wanted to see the inside of your trailer :( how far are you from town Rusty. So it's cheaper for you run the small window air conditioner? I could never handle the heat your talking about in the summer.
LOL! Your toilet seat on the DIRECTV dish perfectly expresses my opinion of them! Keep the vids coming. Love your folksy style.
Marie Eakin Directv is the toilet

yep...
Hey- that looks just like my wheelbarrow! Nice home base!

HI Rusty,
I just discovered you RUclips channel today.
If so, how do you remedy that?
rv vent covers...here's a link: amzn.to/2UXSfwZ
Living my plan in 4 more years. Great job.
What a great hillbilly homestead, enjoy your videos.
Yeah.....nice quiet home base.
Hi Rusty, I am in love with your channel it is so imformative, and just love your personality. I am in Universal City, Texas next to San Antonio. I am originally a native southern California gal, but have lived most of my adult life in Jacksonville Beach, Florida called the first coast where Amelia Island, Fernadina Beach and nested between St. Augustine. Keep up the great job you are doing I have learned alot from this channel. In 10 years or so, I would love to own a piece of land like you have. Anyway--- all the best I hope you get that Class B you want so much, if everyone would pitch in with donating soda aluminum cans or bear then it would go over so fast, you would have the money in no time. Just a thought. :)
Rusty do you have to have the county come out to inspect your hoses and septic and such or I'm just curious because I want to do something like this
Great video. You sound real fun...eem-kay.
Where is the umbrella for the table? No street lights, YES!!!, love the stars.
How much are they asking for the vacant lot you mentioned at 1:13 ? Can I put a year-round RV on it ?
Hi Rusty, I'm new sub. I'm wondering do all states allow people to live in RVs on land without building a house. If not, what specifically should I look for, or ask the realtor when looking for land to put the RV on and live in? Thanks. All the best adventures.
It can really vary county by county, "subdivision" by subdivision. So you got do your research.
Yarn Buzz every place the land has a zone code, check with your town or city what the zoning laws are, what you can & can not put on your land.
Nice place.
Rusty you have a neat place 😉 !
This is a comment on an older video on your home base, did you cut the limbs on the mesquite trees with a handsaw or chainsaw? Have a great day friend
Cool place Rusty!
On the window unit Air Conditioning units
If you fill the lower base of the unit with water it will Cool a lot better
Give it a try
Great video
Nice spot, I like how you have it set up. Take care Rusty.
So there's room to sleep in a prius ! Does the seat fold back all the way down ? Or did you modify it ? I know people sleep in a prius. But didn't give it much thought. Very interesting.
watch my "prius camping" playlist...lots of info there
Do you have a septic system for waste? You did say you were on water and electric. How much are your utilities per month?
Great place Rusty!!! what did the utility company to run electricity to your site? Did you contract someone to dig and service your septic, was that expensive? Thx brother!!!
I've never known anyone to name a trash can, lol.
I mean I have even looked up things about living in an RV on a piece of land and it always comes to no. If this can be found what would be the cost in how you live?
there are county rules, and POA rules...everywhere...
Do you ever have problems with tornados over there, Rusty?
See!!!!! I’m catching up on your videos!!!!
great
We call them tv dishes on the east coast a Texas state flower
Do you sleep in the prius ? Or do you carry a tent ? Seems cramp in a prius.
Prius...memory foam mattress
Rusty what do you do for water & sewerage if you buy a piece a lot/land like this.
Where does your grey/black lines drain to? Did you dig a septic system?
Haha I live that visual artwork message to DirecTV 🤣🤣🤣
I love* not I live LOL 🤣
thanks

Just found your channel and enjoy your personality a lot! I cannot help from asking what price the cat paid for scratching your chair?
