Naruto, a professional warrior, was defeated by Nagato Uzumaki in a forest. Despite his defeat, Naruto was overwhelmed with wrath and trembling, appearing like a demon. His grandfather, Nagato, argued that Naruto was not capable of leading the world to peace due to his lack of experience in real suffering and hard choices. Naruto, who had witnessed the vilest monsters and horrible activities since childhood, argued that he needed to see the world like his master. Nagato, however, argued that Naruto's weakness and the time it would take for him to handle Madara made him a better candidate for a new life.
He promised to send Naruto somewhere he couldn't reach, but in exchange, he would bring back everyone he killed today. Naruto had never experienced life without being directed, and his victory brought an end to their war.
