    i bought durians from nonthaburi this year. a whole unpeeled monthong was sold at 1500 baht per kg while kanyao was 6000 baht per kg. they were expensive but very delicious.

      Oh wow, that sounds so yummy! yes, the durian prices keep going up but they are so addictive and delicious!! (this year, I only got to find Monthong in super markets but hopefully, next year, I can try many different varieties too).

    My first durian experience was durian bubble tea in Toronto, and then much later, I tried the real durian fruit at COEX when there was an international food exhibition or something. I had a bite, spoke to my friend, and my friend covered my mouth and asked me to stop talking right away. bahahahaha

    I love durian & coconut milk infused sticky rice. But anything with coconut milk you can't keep it for too long. Even within a day if you cannot eat it, you need to put it in the fridge. Otherwise it will go bad. And the sour coconut milk taste means it has gone bad. :P

(I will go subscribe right away for disney medley & musicals) And yes!! I later found out it was kluai buat chi made with durian/ coconut cream/pandan water that actually went bad/sour during the delivery (2-3 days in hot weather). (the owner said it's not supposed to be that sour) I learned it the hard way....haha but yes! I tried fresh durian sticky rice with fresh coconut cream, that was aroiiii maak!!

      Also that is not proper way to eat Durian Sticky Rice. It actually serves room temperature or tends to be hot. Please try the one fresh at a shop. You probably should not have ordered a delivery, esp. when they wrap in a package; it will go off very quickly in that state. Please try the one in traditionary Thai restaurant, even at S&P.

    • @TJStories
      @TJStories  3 года назад

      Yes, I later found out it was kluai buat chi made with durian/ coconut cream/pandan water that actually went bad/sour during the delivery (2-3 days in hot weather). (the owner said it's not supposed to be that sour) went so sour that it also had carbonation and it also curdled like yogurt.... and I had stomachache afterwards 55;; Good advice, I will try next time at a fresh/wet market :)

    • @motopaap
      @motopaap 3 года назад

      @@TJStories Yes, I can tell from the look of it. Anything with coconut milk will go off within a day and not recommended by the doctor to keep it longer than that. Even though it is edible, it is still bad for your body.
      Since Durian is in season, you can try it at restos like The Terrace, S&P and many proper local Thai chain place. It is pretty decent. We don't usually or perhaps by tradition enjoy it with large chunks of durian like the modern one you ordered. It tends to be "the ghost of durian"; in other words, just enough to have a taste of durian, which will make the coconut cream not too sour for taste. But I think a mouthful of the one you ordered has a right amount of drama for a mukbung video! You were eating so well!! Hahaha

      Hi Paula, thank you for your comment! Yes, I remember when I was in the US, it was very hard to come by fresh durians, the ones they had in Asian markets were like you said, super expensive.
