This is the video I've needed for a year. I bought a laser. Used it about twice. Put it on the shelf out of frustration. Time to get that thing off the top shelf and give this another go.

Good job Nick. Look forward to the series. One thing that I have done after everything is square is, I placed masking tape on the rails, left and right, for a reference point. The gantry can move slightly off square after multiple burns. A belt might be a little tighter on one side to the next. Just move the gantry to the edge of the tape on one side and tweek the other side to match.

Hey Nick, can you address the stop sensors on the D1 Pro. Mine seem not to be sensing. 😮 Also, re calibration the machine, I get an out of bounds error when starting jobs.

I haven't turned my D1 on in a year, I need to get back on it, I've gotten into 3d printing now. Now to just combine the two....😂😂😂

Slowly saving my $$ for a laser...with that said i have a small shop and live in NW Indiana, and its not heated and can get down to maybe 0... With that said can u leave a diode laser out in the garage when its that cold?? I know u cant with a C02...im also wanting to engrave acrylic, and maybe my Wrench sets with my last name...,and thats about it,,and then just doing normal wood projects...maybe plywood layering...should i just get like the X1P2? Or can i stick with the 40W D1Pro...??? Im also in a toss up either for the laser for those purposes,,and a Shapeko Pro CNC..to do engraving and laser work combined,,which do i choose?? Or what would u choose as a Noob wanting to have options?? So sorry everyone for the book to read, and all the questions,u just dobr wanna waste my money$$$ 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏Thanks All

Diodes do better in cold weather than CO2. No water cooling to worry about. However, there are still optimal temps.
As far as laser or CNC, that really depends on you and what projects you are considering.
      Cheers!

@@BuildDadBuild Im wanting to make me some led acrylic signs for the shop, and id like to engrave my wrench sets, which that means the Co2 im sure,,should i go for the X1P2?? Or just bite the bullet and get like a Thunder Laser..in case i wanna do big projects and/or break down bigger sheets i guess??😱😭😱😭😱😭This is so hard...i wanna get a CNC,and play around with that, cause of the amazing woodwork they can do,but also wanna make laser engraved, etched, whatever u wanna call it...😮‍💨😮‍💨😮‍💨😮‍💨

Lol, yes explaining the squareness to surface can be difficult to explain.
You were explaining perpendicular. But would still need the explanation if the viewer didn't know what perpendicular meant.
    Words are hard! 😅

I think the word you are looking for is parallel to the work area
