Robert Sheen Yep, it’s not even a sample really, more like a cover song to solidify Kanye’s position as a pop artist on the album rather than a simple Hip Hop dude
What makes this album even more amazing than it already is are the little amount of samples in it. He created a whole new sound in Hip Hop. And he practically did it all by himself. What a #fuckgenius ;)
King Bob Kanye’s Samples = Generalisation. Picking out an anomaly doesn’t mean his point’s wrong. I mean Kanye’s sampled himself before but I’m not informing OP that Kanye West isn’t obscure.
See You In My Nightmares is an interpolation of "The Cask of Amontillado" by The Alan Parsons Project also . The same section Lil Wayne sampled on "It's Good"
You know what makes 808s and Heartbreak one of the greatest albums of all time? The fact that the majority of the album consists of original tracks. What I mean by that is, minimal use of samples. Art created through emotions. And it works.
You are on fire man, yesterday (8/6/17) you covered Late Registration and Graduation. Today its 808's. MBDTF may take a little longer, but please try to cover it. Overall amazing job, forget Genius I go to you.
Am I the only one who thinks Kanye sampled Nas' One Mic in Pinocchio Story? I know it isn't obvious but it can easily be picked up when you listen closely. I have actually found that Nas sampled Phil Collins' In The Air Tonight; the former was the first song of which I thought...
Siliziwe Ncanywa Both Nas’ Stillmatic album and Kanye’s 808s album have cold wintery synth pop inspired sounds and samples throughout the whole of them. Any crossover and similarities I guess is possible and makes sense, but it’s definitely not sampling. Just similar vibes.
OMG bandstand stop deleting your channel! I was searching for this video last month and it just disappeared from my playlists along with this whole channel, i was heartbroken for losing all those videos
Best to least best since there is no bad album. 1. MBDTF 2. Late Registration 3. College Dropout 4. 808s & Heartbreak 5. Graduation 6. Yeezus 7. TLOP (underwhelming but not bad)
There is literally so much music that comes out and goes unnoticed every single day. I'm pretty sure rap and dance music will have enough to sample forever.
Alan Parsons Project and Tears For Fears were pretty big groups. He probably just listens to them or knew about them. As for the Robocop sample, it's from a movie and I've seen Kanye trying to sample it back in 2003 so he must have just saw the movie, heard the music and made a note. I used to do the same when I produced.
Amazing - listen to Banjo Tooie boss music - Lord Woo Fak Fak pretty sure he slowed it down, he plays piano for his but the boss music listen for the horns.
I mean, I just listened. It's just a case of using C minor and F minor with that little Ab to Bb part. Amazing actually seems to be using a 6 part choir. You have 2 very clear female voices which are probably from a keyboard. You have a lower female voice which could be something else, too hard to hear. You have 3 male voices, then. The lowest sounds fake but based on the credits, I think it's Mr Hudson slowed down to pitch his voice down an octave. The one above is a very faint humming from Kanye. The final, the part which is probably the clearest which goes Ab, G, F, G, Ab (then quickly Bb), G, F, C is probably Tony Williams.
an older video showed something which could have been a sample but I doubt it. Perhaps an inspiration at best but the whole song sounds freshly made with old analogue equipment.
hella late but yes it does but only for a very short period of the song. It samples the opening bass from "Standing On Higher Ground" by Alan Parsons project but then the rest of it is completely original
1. My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy 2. 808s and HeartBreaks 3. Yeezus 4. Late Registration 5. The Life Of Pablo 6. Ye 7. The College Dropout 8. Jesus Is King 9. Graduation
Bandstand is officially the go to channel for samples. I never request albums. He just magically knows...
nosbo tho
This album certain feels a LOT more contemporary than it release. Pretty solid record and one of my favorites of Kanye IMHO, a little bit underrated.
This album sounded like it would have had more
and it does . they just didnt put them all in
You're absolutely killing it right now and I can't wait for MBDTF
calebwilford it's....it's already out
A_Narcissistic_Sloth what you don't understand is that he probably wrote the comment before the video was posted. You pleb
@ibruceleeonyoass55 think he meant the video that contained each sample on that record. Or they meant that they couldn't wait to watch it.
Didn't know that melody on Coldest Winter was sampled, makes the song
Robert Sheen interestingly, the band he sampled for that song now use Kanye's version in their live shows
finallynb dafuq wow
Robert Sheen Yep, it’s not even a sample really, more like a cover song to solidify Kanye’s position as a pop artist on the album rather than a simple Hip Hop dude
I liked the album more finding out he sampled Tears for Fears
nightfall for real?
What makes this album even more amazing than it already is are the little amount of samples in it. He created a whole new sound in Hip Hop. And he practically did it all by himself. What a #fuckgenius ;)
Wouldn’t say he did it all by himself. Scott had a lot of input.
Kanye's samples are so obscure to the average listener.
Tears for Fears is not obscure you pleb
King Bob Kanye’s Samples = Generalisation. Picking out an anomaly doesn’t mean his point’s wrong. I mean Kanye’s sampled himself before but I’m not informing OP that Kanye West isn’t obscure.
Samples by Madlib are even more obscure.

Idk why, but the synth in see you in my nightmares makes me think of the keys in the logical song by Supertramp

A perfect album
I thought he created all the beats for this album, yet it’s still an incredible production
he created all the beats, but not the melody

Ok but that transition at 0:22 is *yes*

i thanks kanye For 808s and heartbreaks helps me with my depression
Kanye in an interview
"like theres no samples on there heartless aint sampled"
literally heartless
"Ammonia Avenue - Allan Parsons Project"
I wonder if he meant that there wasn't really any kind of melodic sample. It's pretty much just chords which he could have just replayed anyway.
Awesome video thanks
yo that first transition into heartless was too smooth ngl
Never thought so many songs were sampled. Don’t know if that takes away or adds to the creativity I thought this album had.
Why would it take away?
The shortest video of Bandstand
Thanks!

A lot of songs from 1990-2018 are samples so in 2030 what are people going to sample if there is no original music anymore?
