0:52 "there is no attack increasing stat..." watch in slow motion and look at the stats page again.
When you're in "High spirit" aka blue you get the buff
It could just be bad translations and a lack of clarity on the devs part
another FYI is spirit attacks deal more damage to enemies who have orange "low spirit" while you have blue "high spirit" meaning the game rewards you for not getting hit.
Is this closest we will get to a Nioh 3?

Great video man. I've really enjoyed this demo. I ran through with a fire build, metal build, and then a water build before I realized mixing stats was the play. I picked a weapon to build around the 3 stats and took the best spells from each. It seems a lot like nioh 1 with way better fight mechanics. Nioh 1 was about coming up with OP af spell combos to sht all over bosses. I can't fkn wait for this release. It would add so much to the game if they'd make that deflect window a bit more lenient. Also, I thought most of the enemies were about 10% too fast. A 10% speed reduction would help with the lack of telegraphing on some attacks

The guarding and parrying reminds me of Ninja gaiden 2 a lot. I used to use that to get through master ninja
Very good tips. I like earth and wood too. Especially high earth with that four star glaive, huge damage.
5:30 When it comes to fixed drops from corpses/chests, Nioh did the same thing (you could always get the same purple ninja subset and purple kusarigama in the chest under the Great Centipede for example, or the same purple spear from that one drop before Hino-Enma, or you could find the full Kingo set from the chests inside the Shibata Katsuie mission every time). But it gets hard to notice which drops are fixed and which are not unless you do multiple playthroughs, especially since there's so much more loot in Nioh 1-2 than Wo Long. It's a common mistake of thinking that they didn't exist, and I hope Team Ninja pays more attention to this type of problem, that most players miss core elements of their design because of the way they present it.
maybe you're right, with the amount of loot you got, things got lost in a sea of purple and other junk colors.
I hope they do guarantee boss dropped gear, i think that would be great for the game whereas nioh it was always random. Like example, every boss you fight guarantees at least 1 gold 4-5 star gear piece of their set. that could make farming better. surprised the boss in the demo dropped nothing but maybe they disabled it.
Thank you for this video! I've been trying to hard to master the deflect/parry timings and I thought blocking would punish me hard! I'm glad to know block is safer and that I wasn't the only one having a hard time deflecting/parrying!
Blocking should be taken out, only requiring parry. Blocking is lame and boring, much more fun to learn enemies movie sets then to just hold a button to defend yourself.

Just became an instant fan. I've been looking at so many videos that didn't explain any of this!
Now that the dust has settled I am getting more hyped for Wo Long although some things definitely need to be looked at by Team Ninja. Stuff like the bow changes really baffle me, I hope it's a skill tree unlock to get headshots back. Maybe it was a little OP in the Nioh games, but I'd still like to see it back. Also I didn't know you could summon Zhao Yun, that's cool.
yah the potential is there for things to be great. the animations are amazing, map is better designed with good variety. it just needs some work and fine tuning. looking forward to the 2nd demo whenever they likely put it out. probably december/january
Solid breakdown. I had a fun time with it but you made some great points in your previous video about its shortcomings thus far. We're all fans of TN and the Nioh series so if they can fix those issues you pointed out I think we'll have a great game on our hands. Let's hope if truly is the spiritual successor to Nioh 2 (lowkey sad they didn't just make Nioh 3).
yah this could have easily been nioh 3 if they kept the stance system in lol but that just means we can get this game, and maybe a future nioh 3 still
Balance of water and fire is also good if you're going for high damage output melee DPS since water also boost the attack of both light and heavy weapons while fire boost light weapons. Earth seem to boost heavy weapon's attacks from what I noticed. You'll focus more on using range weapons in combat as well due to water element focus on range weapons. However, this is a build focus on martial arts attacks, stealth attack for combat advantage, and parry so it is not good in the Magic attack aspect.
This does require more mastery of parry, dodge, and blocking due to lower amount of points going into Earth and Wood for HP and higher weight limit to wear heavier armor for more defense.
I am very bad with souls game or with dodging and running around around during combat too. I am becoming 50 in a few month time and it seems an old dog, does not learn any tricks anymore.
In Efootball I play without all the stunning moves, because I am just not able to pull them off. I played the Fallout series entirely with VATS because I am too dumb to move while fighting. Played Cyberpunk as a hacker to avoid most combat and stopped playing Control when I could not come past the first boss. That's I reason I did not get Elden ring.
I played the Wo Long Demo and did ok until now. Had to repeat lots of enemies but at some stage finally mastered it. I prefer ranged (but not enough projectiles), sneak (does not work on all enemies) and I experiented with magic, but at my level most speels seems to be expensive.
If I fight I mostly luse the Kleve and just spam quick attacks until the finisher is possible. The only works if I am quick enough to not let the enemy attack me in the meanwhile.
So I am wondering if there is a build I could use, that is a little more forgiving for fighting Noobs like me.

Buffs are as strong as they were in Nioh but at least we don't have sloth talisman in this game lol.
Also dragon is %100 getting nerfed.
yah it might, I thought the heal would have been little bits at a time like the old heal spells from nioh but its literally like 1k per tic lol
Isn't there a spell that makes enemies and bosses regain their spirit bar slower? I thought it was similar to Sloth imo.
What's wrong with sloth? It helped players who couldn't keep up with the many mechanics you had to keep track of while playing.

My big concern is the change for skills, being tied to weapons doesn't set to well with me. Really hoping like you mentioned in you last video of the demo that maybe the blacksmith can alter the skills.
yah definitely a deal breaker. they're pretty good at feedback reception so just hope players voice them in the survey or other forms, to mention the skills. Being able to customize them could mean you can equip 2 of the same weapon type but have different skills on both so u can counter deflect to use both for a total of 4 skills.
I think they will have to do something like that. Maybe it will be like tempering or remodeling (once you've seen it you can equip it) or like the Nioh 2 boss skills (enemies can drop weapon skills).
Yeah my fav element is the metal and I do like the dragon summon the most ....so op
I only used the water spirit and ice spells. No wonder I thought the spells were crap. But I did think the water spirit was pretty good though. It pretty much soloed the first tiger.
Yeah and parries were way to hard to pull off consistently. Healing and spirit summon didn’t register my button input half the time. And I really hope they tone down the loot game way more than even what they have now.
turtle might be the strongest one when it comes to just straight dmg. and yah I've heard people want even less loot.
lets be honest the lame 1-2 stars filling up your inventory was pointless. even if we could get materials from dissembling them for example, why not just drop those materials instead from enemies? you should start with a 1 star wpn, find only 2 stars as the rares, and the rarest wpn, gold, would be 3 stars. there's no point to 4 tiers of rarity, and possibly 5 they might have n the full game. not much loot pinata's but majority of the pick up items from chest and whatnot were just low grade gear.
People seem to think you have to either bash this or nioh. Just enjoy both. This is probably not gonna too nioh 2, which is such a phenomenal game. But itll still be a blast to play Im sure!

I know my main stat is gonna be wood cause I really enjoy lightning in any souls like game that lets me use it. I was thinking to have the flash step, one attack spell and the others be buffs. Idk I guess we'll just have to see what other wizardry spells are in the game.
Hm, I think there is headshot damage with bow and arrow, since the center dot turned red when we played it and the damage number was yellow. Not 100 percent sure.
how did you find 4 star in demo? demo was incredibly short

I really liked the idea of the spirit that helped in battle but I went with the fire one for my first run. Im really curious if I can make like a heavy armor, heavy weapon build work but we need like a great axe or sonething
With high morale, I think heavy is super strong for the dmg reduction, epecially with earth spirit. and since dodging is shit, light armor doesn't makes sense anymore. I didn't see any agility bonuses neither so heavy seems the way to go unless something shows otherwise
I wanted to use the water class because I like the water Spirit now that know it has bhs I may not because I know everyone is gonna use it now

how to get skill points to learn spells? They are at least not gained by getting a simple level up in an element
seems its like certain thresholds. leveling up say 5 levels, in any virtue, gives you 1-2 points, in ALL virtues. so i dont think its limited to pump element > get points in only said element.

Thats my only criticism of the game. The parry system needs some work. Doesn't always parry or the timing feels off. So I switched to blocking instead.
I hope there is more incentive to parry besides critical blow when the game comes out because OP builds will just fodderize that mechanic.
Nice analysis! I played the demo 2x with a full metal build, it was very underwhelming.. no dmg spells low poison damage … i think they should adjust metal power
yah poison seemed pretty wack. the debuff spell was pretty nice, but they might have to buff the tick rate or something. this games too fast to worry about a dmg of time build. the saving grace is if they have dmg modifiers that give big boost when enemy poisoned, like in nioh
wait so investing in different elements can cancel out the boost you get from conflicting ones? why tf did they think that was a good idea? literally punishing the player for investing points into stats
you still gain the offensive boost, but defensive gets reduced. the left stats are offense, right ones defense. raising water lowers a different defense than fire, so they won't conflict in a way that raising both fire and water equally would cancel them out, but you are always left with a negative unless you invest equally into everything.
I don't think thy put ninjas build in this game because that belongs to Japan myths this about China means kongfu and allot of skills and buff's
They really need to change deflect a more reliable thing. It's way too difficult and punishing. Though not sure how could they do it.
just 1-3 more frames. ironically the weapon swap parry gives WAY more blue bar than normal deflect, so the problem is normal deflect doesn't do much. you almost want to just use r1+circle deflect instead. so normal deflect needs more blue bar, and maybe change the wpn swap counter to do something else.

In sekiro you couldn't increase your attack stat directly until ng+ or close to it .

Nioh 2 needs to come to Xbox! I miss it and it just looks outdated on the PS4 after years of being on the new console.
It only took me 2 hours to get bored of the weapon movesets where as i still had fun 1300+ hours later in nioh 2. Enough said
I mean nioh jas the stances, in here they are to be mixed with both spells and the stance attacks since they all use the same bar. Be more aggressive and you unlock the ability to weave in the stance attacks and spells during your combos and it feels quite smooth tbh. If you just stick to the basic light/heavy hits no duh you're bored that would be like never changing stances in the nioh games

I mean tbf... spells are ranged attacks and SHOULDNT be super busted all the damn time lol... plenty during the demo did pure casting and it worked fantastically. i'm always a pure caster, Nioh 2 ...pure caster... DS? ER? pure caster will refuse to use weapons entirely after prob mid game lmfao...I will be SPAMMING fire magic with phoenix and prob lightning/water on the side maybe or swap one of those last two with Wood.

I think they're gonna do a 2nd demo and change things. the overall feedback I've read from various sites all focus on that as debates, so I think things will change. after a 2nd demo I'll make a guide when they decide how it will likely behave more for final release. right now it's either you learn the timings or not, aside the block before parry tip i gave.
The part that i really dislike about this demo is ur literally punished for havin fast reactions. All the enemies do the longest lame swings that u have time to make a coffee get the mail an check whats new on pornhub before it lands, so u see the swing an react but the swing takes an hour to actually land in the hit box so ur sitting there goin oh hes attacking 1,2,3,4,5,6 7 ok now parry. U flip an blip around like a crack head lookin for a bag of chips but the enemies are so slow im like what is happening.

The game was ok, but its not as good as nioh 2, nor will it last as long. I cant see myself playing this for 2500hrs like i did nioh 2. But I'll get a good 60hr distraction i guess.
meh so far im not liking the gear as in the tha japanese stuff of nioh. hope there is more cool stuff there
yah armor designs weren't...great. especially on females woof. maybe its just the area being mainly bandits but enjoyed the more samurai armor from nioh.
Am I delusional to think because team ninja is pumping two games out at the same time...and given the other one is open world genre...which takes way more effort..
I can expect wo long to have way less content compare to nioh 2... The quality might not even be that great...
2 entirely separate parts of the studio and teams making them. It isnt like the team making this game is also making the other.
Nioh 2 is not open world and neither is Wo Long.
Hopefully there isnt a super meta build. Sick of games, combat or shooters always having some waaaaay better than everything else combo. Ruins it. In pvp everyone copies it. Mw2 RPK cough.

@@JNCABLE91 living weapon > yokai shift but you cannot say Nioh 1 is a better game than Nioh 2 lol. Objectively, everything is a lot more polished there. Heck, Ki Pulsing in Nioh 1 is so “off”, sometimes you dont even get the full Ki Pulse and the Yokai Pools stay. Soul Cores and Burst Counters were one of the best features of that game too. Everything just connects a lot better.

Sucks for you pwar, builds will not be a thing in this game. Wo Long will die out faster than Nioh did. It will pretty much just be spam normal andl finish with spirit attack. Learn to parry or die lol. I tried the multiplayer after beating the demo and it is god awful. Everyone lagging including the boss and just braindead spamming everywhere lmao
Die like nioh? Nioh sold 1 million copies each year for the first 3 years it was out, and then sold the same with Nioh 2 so far. That isn't dying in any sense lol

Play elden ring, start with astrologer or prisoner(both have ranged spell)( astrologer starts with best spell at low cost). Use spirit ash to tank as u use spell from range.
I think u will love the range playstyle as u seem to like Wo Long.
