Thank you for the tutorial. Just in case people are wondering which fluid to use for the front and rear diff. My car, 2011 x5 50i production date was before 10/2010, uses the same bmw 75w90 for front and rear diff according to my VIN # per my local bmw shop.
? Doesn’t the rear diff have 3 areas for fluid the sides and the center ? What type of fluid did u use in all of these is quality help Info for your viewers .
Believe filling the transfer case and the differentials is the same process. Fill until the drain plug overflows and let it slow down the flow to a drip and then install bolt back on.
That car will not stop driving if you don’t change the fluids. Yes, at 100k miles it is recommended to change those fluids. I change mine every 30k miles. It will make the differential and transfer case last longer and work smoother.
The only way to know is to go under the car and look for yourself. If it is a v8, then it would most likely be similar. The 6 cylinder has weaker smaller parts.
The draining part wasn't shown because it is self explanatory and straightforward. just unscrew the lowest bolt on transfer case and let it drain then screw plug back on.
There are a couple of ways to access the drain bolt. On is from the side through the wheel plastics and the other is cutting a 14mm allen to fit. I have the cutting video on my site also if you do a search you should find it.
You must go to BMW dealer and give them your last 7 digits of your vin. BMW is known to use different fluids in same models for some stupid reason. So give them a call and then order it from them. Do not use after market transfer case fluid.

Thanks for great Video. Question. is it one for one? Drained one quart of oil and one to fill it up? for Transfer case and front Differential\.

which gear oil you used for front and rear differential ?
You have to check your dealership for your particular weight. I don't remember but it isn't hard to find out.
Use a 14 mm bolt head u can weld the to a 9/16 wrench and have a “custom” bmw diff plug wrench
I have 2012 X5 xDrive50i with 100k miles. Do you think I should change those fluids? Or will it stop while driving on the freeway in the near future?

At what point did you drain the T-Case fluid? Is it possible this is not shown in your video?
The draining part wasn't shown because it is self explanatory and straightforward. just unscrew the lowest bolt on transfer case and let it drain then screw plug back on.
What is the manufacture date of your X5? July 2011 and newer requires the hypoid gear oil.
I believe this is October-ish of 2011 labeled as a 2011 model.
How short the 14mm allen have to be to fit in the transfer case drain bolt?
