Finally a video that goes past WWII
Wow. This was incredibly well done.
Cómo mexicano puedo decir que es de los mejores videos de su tipo que he visto. Gracias.
se agradece el comentario.
We never comment on videos. We're making an exception. Absolutely well done, and we've added this to the June 2, 2024, entry on the general elections as a resource. Really, really well done.
Often times people forget how deep the scar caused by european colonialism had in Mexico... Just to put an example, CDMX, the country's capital has big water problems were it needs to pump potable water from the near cities up the mountains that surround the city & from underground from the ancient lake Texcoco. Many experts theorize that had the lake not been dried up, the city wouldn't be suffering those problems... Now, you may ask, who dried up the lake then? Mexicans? The aztecs? No, it was Hernan Cortes himself who decided to establish the new capital for New Spain just were Tenochtitlan was and dry up the lake to make way for the paved roads and other european buildings, a really BIG stupid decision that was proved right when the city started to suffer constants flooding & and avalanches provoked by the drying up process.
that's just one of many.
Cortez is one of those people in history who I already really despise, and yet every time I learn something new about him, I hate him even more.
Hola la verdad no sé si me entiendas pero los datos que mensionas ninguna hacertaste bueno si eres de otro país pues te entiendo pero si lo pusiste por informar solo te aconsejaria que estudies más saludos 🇲🇽🦅
They don’t forget they only fail to mention. Like the Iraq war over the government destroying its own towers and killing millions only for oil and a restart of debt?😅

Loving this channel, and this video in particular. I'm from the US, but married to a Mexican. I've heard and seen so many of these names referenced in my visits to Mexico, especially in the names of streets, neighborhoods, and other places. It's nice to get some context as to who is who and what happened.
It really opened my eyes to see how recent a lot of this history is. For example, I'd always assumed that the PRI and PAN were basically akin to D and R in the US, and I never would have guessed the PRI had such a history
I'm really happy that this is helping you out, Jimmy. I did this for my classes, but it's awesome when other people find it useful.
How am i just watching this video now after 3 years? You did an excellent work on this, great research.
For those interested the 68 massacre they didnt just shot at the protesters wich appart from the university students mentioned, many of them were accompanied by their families, their mothers their brothers and sisters, they where swept up by bullets indiscriminately, the firing at the Tlatelolco plaza was so intense and chaotic that there were even causalities between the army bc of their own crossfire, and it didnt end there, they chased them down through the city, everyone suspected to be involved were arrested or "disappeared", they opened up houses to look for them bc they starded fleeing into them, many people was arrested or shot at their own houses without even knowing what all that noise outside was
Appreciate the comment.
At my university there this guy in my class from Mexico straight up defended Porfirio Diaz on the grounds that he "brought stability to Mexico" and I was like dude, he was a dictator who essentially undid what Benito Juarez worked for and created vast wealth inequality that led to the Mexican Revolution.
Later before waiting for class he showed me pictures of himself wearing a WWII German Wehermatch uniform he bought online so that explained his poltical beliefs 😅💀
Every. single. time.
Sadly, there's too many Porfirio Diaz stans these days.
@ Yeah I wonder why. I guess it's on the belief that if modern Mexico had a powerful military dictator that it would easily destroy the cartels and everything other problem ( caused by corruption/neoliberalism ), will magically become resolved lmao. Great video and channel btw. Iv spent the last few years researching my Mexican ancestry and have been trying to learn more about it. Even go through 23&me and Ancestry
Probably more Spanish and not indigenous Mexican.
I mean, Juárez signed the McLane-Ocampo treaty, ceding even more territory to the Americans, and worse, rigged the last election. Juárez wanted to be the dictator that Díaz ended up being, alas.
Many people overlook politicians like Porfirio Diaz for the atrocities they did, just because they did some good, especially good for the elite. Nothing they do is good if it's at the cost of the majority of the population and they are suffering. Good you pointed that out to the guy.
This a really good video. It was extremely informative and I loved the drawings. Nice job!
Thanks for this! Helped me write my essay and interesting to watch!
Great video. Thank you so much. I am a gringo who is trying to learn more about Mexican history and this was a wonderful synopsis. Loved the drawings as well.
Thanks for the kind words. I commend you for wanting to learn about Mexico. As neighbors we should know more about each other.
thank you for this educational video and all the work you put into it! blessings
Thank you for detailed neocolonial and post WWI history! This was super helpful for school.
Neocolonial?

John 3:16-21
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. 21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.
Mark 1.15
15 And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.
2 Peter 3:9
The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
Hebrews 11:6
6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
Jesus
Thank you for making the video!, I'm very interested in Latin america and Spanish history and it drives me to learn Spanish so I can learn about the rich culture of Mexico and the neighbouring country!, saludos desde indonesio!
Indonesia! That’s amazing. You’ve made my week!

Excellent video. Looks like finally the transition is for better
The comment is very much appreciated.
Thanks for the great references! 😄📖📖
Great video, thanks!
Brilliant video, cheers from Ireland!
thank you, right back at you.
Brilliant synopsis thank you
Thank you for this! The level of things we absolutely do not learn in school (I’m located in South Florida), where all my peers think that people from Spain (aka the Spanish) look like Mexicans.
Excellent video. I learned alot.
Great video, Lazaro Cardenas is the best Mexican president, with AMLO being second. Viva Villa, Viva Zapata! Sad that they met their end but at least now they are recognized as Mexican heroes.
Great video
Iturbide was not an opportunist, but a mediator whom was pronounced emperor practically overnight. Still, you were much fairer to him in context than others.
The country of my ancestors
Fast forward to 2024...
AMLO is the greatest president in the history of Mexico and paved the way for a bright future.
I witnessed the people shake the military's hand....
He has shown, no matter what regime takes over, we can make this work the right way if we want to. Mexicans will shine in the end.
Buen video
Finally Mexico
It's a wonderful video. The Summer Olympics were the ones held in Mexico City in 1968, by the way. José López Portillo was the one who had a severe economic crisis at the end of his presidency and nationalized the banks of Mexico. Now I am so happy with Claudia Sheinbaum as president. Mexico is on its way to become a superpower and a developed country. Finally Mexico is reforming.
The interpretation of this history is seriously called into question by your framing of AMLO's presidency, particularly given that he left with an 80% approval rating and his protege Claudia Sheinbaum has just obliterated all national opposition in a historic blowout. 🇲🇽🎉🎉
You didn’t see when this video was made, did you?
The past history of Modern Mexico is completely different from today the people woke up the media and their boofoons failed big time we just hope the USA don’t try anything foolish
Not true, AMLO has had LOTS success!!!
Crime has been declining, AMLO has created pleanty of jobs at all levels of society and has created many opportunities for the mexican youth and for its working class. There are many infrastructure projects such as the comeback of railroad transportation; the healthcare free for all its citizens. There is no need for Mexican nationals to migrate to other countries, now a days. Many other positive things to write about. All has that is happeing in Mexico has been publically documented in the internet. Thank godness for that, so that nobody that chooses won't be misinformed with bias voices.
El narco: Hola
Bueno video
Wasn't he also in the PRI early one AMLO...
He was. A lot of people criticize him for bringing the PRI back. But, to be fair, all politicians were PRI politicians in the 80s.
@ the core PAN members were, for the most part, never PRI politicians.
@@FernandoGomez-hg4rn I should have said all politicians with any power. You're right the Panistas were not ever Priistas, but they didn't start get elected until 1988.
you must really love this so-called «democracy». thank you for nice work, great video, I wish it was more neutral though!
How would it be more neutral in your estimation?
@it would be more neutral if your facts matched their prejudices

That’s Pre-Mexican History. Mexican history begins in la Conquista.
Cuca la cuarta perros. En un sexenio no van a cambiar las cosas.
How did you completely ignore la revolucion cristera? que vergas?
It’s 20 minutes. I left out a lot. Everything pre-independence, most of the US and French invasions, etc. I didn’t include La Cristiada mostly because it had very little direct long term repercussions. Its main impact was only through Toral, but that I do mention.
The US invading, discriminating and taking advantage by killing rapping and taking land helps not. Let’s tread our neighbors like crap but let’s send money to Ukraine 😂
¡vamos a la playa!
jaja 21 minutos
THE SUBTITLES ARE USELESS. FIX IT NOW.
Wow, now THAT is a scanty overview. Not very historical or accurate. 🤣😂😅🤪 but it’s just entertainment.
What do you find inaccurate?
The USA BOUGHT Territory following the Mexican American War for 13 million in Gold Bullion and furthermore paid ALL of Mexico’s debts incurred during the war. In 1853-1854 Mexico again sold nearly 30 million additional square miles of land for 10 Million in Gold Bullion during the Gadsden Purchase. Additionally, every time we bought land from Mexico we offered the Mexican Citizens citizenship to those living on those lands and more than 90% accepted it. Finally, I felt that your video inferred that the USA stole millions of square miles of land from Mexico which is absolutely false.
This video is about Mexican history, not about the Southwest. It says that a US force occupied Mexico and extracted half of its territory. I don’t see how anyone could possibly find that controversial. Even Americans at the time didn’t. There was an effort to get all of Mexico and the territory that would be given up would have been much larger except for the American ambassador in Mexico. That the US paid for the territory does not mean it wasn’t extracted since it would not have happened without an occupying army.
False. Mexicans were forced to sell. The peaceful deals come after the war.
My dream is to marry a Mexican
I hate his history
His?
