So great! Memories from the summer of 2008, from a little island in Sweden called Öland. Cath was playing on the radio and i was drinking cold beer and sat all by myself looking out over the ocean. Sooo nice............
Why do so many people complain about his personal looks? The music is what matters. His lyrics are brilliant and beautiful. He speaks for all broken heart lovers who can't find the words to explain how they feel inside. Thank you Ben. You look great.
I know this is a 9 year old comment but I just feel required to say this - Ben is using a G&L ASAT Bluesboy here, G&L being George Fullerton and Leo Fender, and the ASAT being Leo's "true vision" of the tele. So literally according to Leo Fender you are correct!
Dude, been bumpin' this for days and days in my car. Love the beat, the tone, overall greatness. Thank you for all you do guys. Been a fan for over 10 years now.
@@slushydude901 it just takes lots of searching to find real bands. mainstream bands are filled with over produced solo artists hiring people to play for them.
Came to be reminded how good The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson was, but really wanted to hear early Death Cab, but was blown away by the great and unexpected intro by James Lipton. He should have been used more for "fun" intros like this. RIP.
Fabiana Moreira MEU DEUS ESSA MUSICA MUITO LINDA NÉ FALA A VERDADE QUE BOM SABER Q TEM MAIS UM BRASILEIRO OUVINDO ISSO JUNTO COMIGO!!!!!
it doesn't matter what ben or any musician looks like, all that matters is if they have great stage presence, a good sound live, and overall that their music sounds awesome. and DCFC wins in all those categories.
Two things. The drummer is a balding middle aged guy in glasses, so there is hope for me yet. Second, this is a perfect rendition of what is possibly my favourite song. I love the story it tells.
This is really random but this song reminds me of Donna Noble from Doctor Who. Maybe because her real name is Catherine and it's sad what happened to the character.
One of the best introductions of a band I've ever heard.
That's because Craig Ferguson is the greatest late night host of all time.
@@dominonine I mean, he wasn’t the one making the introduction 😂
Why did Craig Ferguson leave Late night?
This song was everything for 13 year old me in 2008...Death Cab just hits the heart with such emotion.
24 year old me in 2008 was hooked on this album
Were you a child bride?
Bass is the absolute perfect volume.
yeah...it gets buried on other versions...wish they had Walla turned up a little too

Sounds nicer than being in quarantine in 2020

i'm a truck drier i use to listen to this song at night very late. love it. kept me up

A beleza de Ben está em suas palavras, em seu coração e em sua alma.
RIP, James. He was the best
I can never get tired of hearing this song.
Absolutely beautifully lyrics in this song. Tells a sad tale and gets me every time.
Can't believe this was almost 10 years ago. Still fresh!
this is how telecasters should sound... beautiful words and awesome melody

I was lucky to see them on this tour in Edinburgh, supported by Frightened Rabbit. One of the bests shows I've been to.
one of the best song writers of all time
You say it true!
one of my favorite songs ever. nice version here.
favorite band on my favorite late night show... perfection
this is the best band ever
im sooo in love with these guys
and he sounds so good live
im spewing i missed their tour
for about 30 seconds there my brain was like: Which one is Ben Gibbard????
Lol! I literally thought the guy in the red was Ben.
Likewise!
He looks like the guy from the postal service.
Jon Athan is this a joke or
You get that thing I sencha!?!
damn dude what a coincidence
They're different names for the same thing.
@@davidcopson5800 ayeee! Lol
I do not think anything in my life or that I have ever heard has been described as accurately as Lipton describes death cab’s pull
I miss this time in late night. And Music... there is no going back besides these video clips.
They all sound amazing live, ben's voice is awesome, i need to see them live again. I love Death Cab for Cutie. They are the BEST!!!
Of all days for me to come across this video😮... RIP Sir. Lipton😭
This song is STILL in my top 10 rotation
For once, the live mixing is almost perfect
Metallica on Howard Stern. Damn near perfect
it's grainy this video is a record of one of the higher points of humanity
Bass drives this song.
I have always loved the bass player in the band but I respectfully disagree and feel that it’s that rippin’ guitar riff that drives it 🤘
This might be my favorite song.
How does he sound EXACTLY the same live??????????????? Thank God real bands and music still exist!

I saw Death Cab years ago in Bend, Oregon with my son and daughter when they were in their teens. Really great show and awesome outdoor venue.
intro = very accurate
From start to finish, the video is gold

Holy fuck this song is so beautiful, man...

Perfect mix
its really hard not to love these guys.
impossible.

CATH!!!!!! lol
I love this song.
Finally some good music was played on Craig Ferguson =)
Music starts at 1:38
I agree, they seem to have slowed it down a little.
i wish i had all their skills put together. that would be dope
I love everything and everyone in this video.

THIS song... Choked up.
Best introduction on Craig ever!
Oh, and DCFC is pretty good too. :)
James Lipton's intro was OFF THE HOOK!!!
Off the wall!
Who cares what Ben LOOKS like?
All I can focus on is that sweetly unique, wholesome voice and those ravine-deep lyrics.
Bass tone sounds like a microwave. I love it
oh yeah he does! especially on the meet me on the equinox video
Fav from DF4C😪
I saw thease guys a few weeks ago, there awesome live ^^
They're*
Great performance
very very dope!
i love your music
I want to see them live!!!
As usual I love Chris's hair. Haha.
Well I certainly don't want to see them dead! (they'd be removed in a death cab of course if that happened)
Totally agree mate.
they are really good live
This was the first time I'd ever heard of this band :O
I remember seeing this
This song still fucks me up 😢
Their best song? I think.
Jason Sallinger indeed, their masterpiece
It's a good one, but I wouldn't even put it in the top 10.
Title and registration.

2024 anyone?
Hell yes 😎🤘
having lost some weight myself recently, I feel so much better and have more energy, maybe Ben is feeling like that too.
how are you doing nowadays?
His. Energy.

Second, this is a perfect rendition of what is possibly my favourite song. I love the story it tells.
I think that one will know the genious of the artistry only after long I am dead.
Why is Nick such a bad ass bass player? Man I love this band.
James Lipton. Perfect.
As the light bulbs flash
She holds a smile
As someone would hold
A crying child.
That is deep!!!
The steady rhythm guitar strum in that part is so brilliantly connected with the lyrics - I have always that loved that part
RIP Mr. Lipton
Agree, on Leno they seemed more into it but the audience there did too.
It feels like just yesterday this was the “new” Death Cab album… life is a trip.
❤❤❤❤
Wow! That was quite impressive.
@jomike31 Yeah, Ben accidentally slowed down in the intro, which threw the whole song's tempo off.
This is really random but this song reminds me of Donna Noble from Doctor Who. Maybe because her real name is Catherine and it's sad what happened to the character.

I concur.
How on earth did 14 years fly by like the blink of an eye?❤❤❤

it's a two part guitar harmony...
i love this song, it even sounds like foo fighters.

Ben looks good. His hair's a bit like the singer's from Silversun Pickups.
@shkylija Do you suppose their look is not deliberate and carefully crafted?
