    I have watched different people attempt to instruct how to break riffs and runs. Those people could actually do the runs and riffs BUTTTTTTTT they failed in instructing/teaching.
    You gave the viewer tools to break down the mechanics of a riff. You demonstrated the tools in action. You taught.
    You are so good you should be slapped :D.
    I am a fan.

    The halo riff is so difficult

    • @PetroleumJellay
      @PetroleumJellay 8 лет назад +11

      The structure itself is not hard, what's hard is descending from a high note all the way down to a low note. My voice is just not that low and its difficult for me to hit the last 2 notes or so but I can keep up just fine.

    • @bernardog.6451
      @bernardog.6451 8 лет назад +1

      +PetroleumJellay Yes that's what I think of it, but for me is that I can't it the first two notes

    • @taytaybeynippy486
      @taytaybeynippy486 7 лет назад +8

      The lowest note in the riff is a 3rd octave "A" that exists in almost everyones model range regardless of being male or female.

    This is how I break down coloratura passages when learning a new aria. I never thought this much thought would go into a "riff." It's kind of awesome.

    I really really love this series. Learning these riffs is actually helping my technique, I think? My vocal mobility has increased and my mixed register seems stronger even though I don't practice the riffs loudly at all. Either way, it's pretty amazing.

      Most kinds of voice sound weird to the singer, but they still are useful. Sure, maybe you don't sound like a pop singer, or a blues singer, or an opera singer, which might be what you're looking for, but whatever kind of voice you have is probably useful for some particular style.
      It's a bit like learning to love your own body: it's the tool you have, so while maybe it's not the one you'd choose, you can still learn what to do with it and develop your own style and presence.

      @Milubee 6 лет назад +2

      you might be too forceful, not have enough breath support, sing 'through your nose'... there's a lot of habits that make people's singing voice sound bad. i don't think there is a true bad voice out there! just bad habits. as long as there's will, you can definitely learn to sing and sound awesome.

      I couldn't do this kind of stuff till I was like 31, cause I never knew how to learn. And I have been doing singing side jobs since I was a teenager! And I took voice lessons for like 8 years! But between these videos and the Jacob Vocal Academy Riffs and Runs warmup videos, I am learning! I thought I could never figure out how to move my voice that fast, but I started listening to the riffs and runs I liked, and breaking them down using the things I'd learned here, and also singing the riff and run scales I could do (they literally have beginner, easy, medium, hard, etc), and teaching myself slowed down versions, and after enough time of learning it, the song comes on and I can do it up to speed and sometimes I don't even realize, it just comes out and I am like, huh, am I making that sound?! But it can be done. Don't lose hope. I am not that great yet, but I am making progress. And I only started really trying to do this around new year. Also helps to record yourself and play it back cause you can hear what you are doing wrong.

    Riffs are easier descending a scale than ascending. Also, the light lyric or coloratura voice type is more agile and flexible for that ability, ie; Beyonce, Christina Aguilera, etc...and Cecilia Bartoli (Mezzo-Soprano) in classical opera.
