I have watched different people attempt to instruct how to break riffs and runs. Those people could actually do the runs and riffs BUTTTTTTTT they failed in instructing/teaching.
You gave the viewer tools to break down the mechanics of a riff. You demonstrated the tools in action. You taught.
You are so good you should be slapped :D.
I am a fan.

These lessons are so great that I can't believe you actually post them FOR FREE! Thank You So Much for helping! I GOT IT!
exactly! I dream the day of her return
The halo riff is so difficult
The structure itself is not hard, what's hard is descending from a high note all the way down to a low note. My voice is just not that low and its difficult for me to hit the last 2 notes or so but I can keep up just fine.
+PetroleumJellay Yes that's what I think of it, but for me is that I can't it the first two notes
The lowest note in the riff is a 3rd octave "A" that exists in almost everyones model range regardless of being male or female.
so true lol
you've changed my life. Over the past 6 months...
Thank you so much Natalie.
i'm not even kidding either.!
i'm a really fast rapper.. and idk how you even count thatttt fast!
this really helps me with speed with riffs, singing & relaxing my tongue/jaw!
their faces when they get the riff is priceless! :D
This is how I break down coloratura passages when learning a new aria. I never thought this much thought would go into a "riff." It's kind of awesome.
OMG *screams* ive just learnring how to sing and my biggest goal is how to riff/run and your video really helps! great work guys ! X
Hahah can you do one of these breakdowns for Scott Hoying's riff in Cracked?
YES!!!
I'm so glad to hear that everyone could learn how to riff! I'm gunna practice till I can!! Power!!
Can you do the whole riff from "Ego" where Beyonce just sings with the piano? Please :)
You deserve more subscribers sweetheart.Thank you so much coach from Haïti.❤❤❤❤
my gosh briana is so gorgeous! can't believe i saw them in concert!
Finally!! A video that truly teaches how to sing riffs and runs. You've earned a new fan :)
this IS the BEST riff technique video! it worked!!
Natalie is a swing in the touring company; what many people don't realize is that swings are often some of the most talented members of the cast as they must have the versatility to cover multiple roles. :)
please keep doing these. they are so much fun.
damn the head tilt (1:50) works so well
I've watched Natalie for so long and have always been amazed at her riffs!! Thank you for this video Natalie, you're amazing!!!!! I'm a singer too and will definitely be following this series!
Such a good starting point for your series, Halo! Love this series!
I love this!!!!!! I have always wanted to know how people riffffff!!!!!!!!!
You are really a great teacher Natlie. Definitely a future in teaching voice lessons for you!
I can't wait to see you two in Chicago!! :)

I LOVE this. Do you know how many people just sat in front of their computer, watching this video, breaking down that HALO riff, with the funny face and everything?! Can't wait for the next one :)
THIS IS SO AWESOME OH MY GOODNESS.
Hi Natalie, can you please please (please!) do a video series on how to pop/broadway belt. You voice is amaazing :-)
Oh how I wish you could have been my vocal coach growing up. These videos are so helpful, thank you!
Natalie Weiss, your actually amazing this video was super helpful. Can't wait to finish watching this series
I am in love with your hair!!!! Thanks for posting this! I wish I had your voice!
I just stumbled across these videos and they might be the best videos I've ever come across. I'm going learn how to riff I'm so pumped!!
Awesome! I don't sing and I was captivated. Shorten the out-takes/speed up the closing. It needs a snap ending. Got to have them hanging on for more.
Great job Gundy!
I'm officially even more in love with you. This is great! Do more.
Currently sat here trying to learn it! Ha, thanks Natalie!
OH MY GOSH that was amazing, BEST tutorial I've found, thank you!! I'll def follow your series!!!!~
This is ah-mazing!!! Yay Nat and Ben!!!!!
I really really love this series. Learning these riffs is actually helping my technique, I think? My vocal mobility has increased and my mixed register seems stronger even though I don't practice the riffs loudly at all. Either way, it's pretty amazing.
i swear i can do these riffs n stuff but i just cant sing LOL my voice just sounds bad
Same lol
Most kinds of voice sound weird to the singer, but they still are useful. Sure, maybe you don't sound like a pop singer, or a blues singer, or an opera singer, which might be what you're looking for, but whatever kind of voice you have is probably useful for some particular style.
It's a bit like learning to love your own body: it's the tool you have, so while maybe it's not the one you'd choose, you can still learn what to do with it and develop your own style and presence.
IcedLipGloss same lol
same here every new video i do it with her but to actually sing its like omg
you might be too forceful, not have enough breath support, sing 'through your nose'... there's a lot of habits that make people's singing voice sound bad. i don't think there is a true bad voice out there! just bad habits. as long as there's will, you can definitely learn to sing and sound awesome.
It's wonderful that you're doing these, Natalie! Thanks!
you're an awesome teacher!
I got to see her as Eponine not a month ago! :D She was sooooo great :)
Amazine, I get it because of you, OMG, incredible
I'm so glad I came across these! These are great
LOVE!
Just can't move my voice that fast :(
Practice and technique is key. The average person won't get it on the first try unless you practice singing for a while.
I couldn't do this kind of stuff till I was like 31, cause I never knew how to learn. And I have been doing singing side jobs since I was a teenager! And I took voice lessons for like 8 years! But between these videos and the Jacob Vocal Academy Riffs and Runs warmup videos, I am learning! I thought I could never figure out how to move my voice that fast, but I started listening to the riffs and runs I liked, and breaking them down using the things I'd learned here, and also singing the riff and run scales I could do (they literally have beginner, easy, medium, hard, etc), and teaching myself slowed down versions, and after enough time of learning it, the song comes on and I can do it up to speed and sometimes I don't even realize, it just comes out and I am like, huh, am I making that sound?! But it can be done. Don't lose hope. I am not that great yet, but I am making progress. And I only started really trying to do this around new year. Also helps to record yourself and play it back cause you can hear what you are doing wrong.
how do you do a basic riff btw? Ive been trying. Dont know which muscles in the throat to actually move.
When love takes over you can riff and runs 🤣
This really helped me! I couldn't even do it at all before. I got just work on doing it faster
Absolutely loved this!
gracias totales apartir de hoy me declaro fan admirador y álumno
WE WANT MOAR
Thanks a lot for breaking down some awesome riffs I will only be able to listening too because I am what they call a “shower only singer”. Keep up with the great vocals and videos, music needs this. Best of luck with you career.
Wowwww this helped me alottttt!!! I tried some other videos but yours worked the best!!

You and Briana make this look so easy, but you're both on nationally touring! This would take me hours or even days to master :(

The countdown riff is so hard
desdentado9 music yes really its hard in general...there are people who can naturally whistle and say its not that hard lol, does it mean its easy?
U should another one of them in 2018!!!!!
brilliance
I wish there was somebody like you, Natalie, in Russia. Thank you for your BDTR videos, only by watching them and trying to copy the riffs I finally started to improove my skills. PS. I always wanted to learn this riff, and finally, thanks to you, I can do it, almost, just need some practise still:)
Super que emoción 😍

thank you soooooo much its helped me alot!!!!!!
This is GREAT!!!! love this!
Dear Nathalie, I learnt about your series from Kim Chandler. You're just great and a great tutor!!! : )
will you ever teach vibrato pop singing ?
Thank you so much for this series!! This was sooo helpful
Riffs are easier descending a scale than ascending. Also, the light lyric or coloratura voice type is more agile and flexible for that ability, ie; Beyonce, Christina Aguilera, etc...and Cecilia Bartoli (Mezzo-Soprano) in classical opera.
that was awesome! i was never interested in riffing and this helped me lots now that i want to learn
God I need a teacher like her in my town😃❣
I dig it girl!
OMG THIS IS SOOOO INCREDIBLE!!!
OMG were watching this series in music class and at the end of it we're going to have riff off! *straightens bowtie* my vocal cords are ready
