Erwin Smith is one of the most interesting and beloved characters in Attack on Titan. Today we're going to talk about his life story.

Erwin Smith is the commander of the Survey Corps in Attack on Titan. He is often partnered with Levi Ackerman and Hange Zoe. These three are leaders in the first half of Attack on Titan before the time skip.
Attack on Titan is a shonen anime written by Isayama. It features characters such as Eren Yeager, Mikasa Ackerman, and Armin Arlert. It follows their struggle to survive in the world of Attack on Titan as they are constantly threatened by outside dangers.

People loved Erwin because his true colors never went out before he died.
He fought for selfish reasons but in the end, he did things out of integrity.

Easily my favorite aot character. I still wonder what season 4 would have been like with him.
I think thats one of the biggest "what if'" in anime tbh. I honestly don't know if it would've gone down too differently, but I think losing Armin would definitely change Erens decisions in regard to the island.

In what way? You think Eren would resent the Scouts if they all still followed Erwin after the Serum-choice? He wouldn't cooperate with Erwin?

Erwin’s story alone is amazing… but just knowing that Eren was the real enemy all along just leaves me speechless…

Best commander for sure
Erwin was such a well written character. He fills a very "basic" role of being a strong motivational commander/leader side character. Seeing his developments in season 3 and getting inside his head about his true motivation and driving force was very gut wrenching. It made me question every death that came before him that he marched his scouts toward. Him not reaching the basement too was tragic as well. There are entire discussions to be had about how Erwin would have reacted to the basement and I know if he had survived he would have had a huge impact on Paradis' interaction with the outside world. It's also interesting speculating how he would react and respond to the yeagerist vs alliance conflict. Overall a great character with one of the best and well timed deaths in the series that would have greatly impacted the story had he lived which I feel is a big accomplishment for side characters.

I believe Erwin is the SECRET MAIN CHARACTER of AoT for the first 3 seasons before Isayama decided to killed Erwin. Eren is just a DECOY MAIN CHARACTER to deceive the audiences/readers to empathize only in the end to be deceived with the nasty revelation of Eren's true nature as the real enemy of humanity.
To be honest I think it would've been better in the story if Armin died and Erwin was made the Colossal Titan.
I don't really agree but I do see your point of view for sure.
