Thank you nick for the hard work you put into these videos please keep up the amazing job. also anyone that can take his master class its worth every penny.
Iove your videos! Helped me a lot to understand how vector graphic works. Now I need to come back since GT7 for the Playstation will have again the option to create your own liveries. Thanks mate! See you around.
Been a long time watcher nick... subbed a couple of years ago... Really love your work. I'll try and add more comments as that seems to be some metric that YT uses? Anyway. Love it! ;)
Sir I just want to say thank you I have learned so much from you so much. I started a gaming channel and I’m impress with the results thank you for your help I subscribed 💯💯
Ah, just want to tell you I appreciate these videos, and I really want to complete your Inkscape masterclass and also the Logo design class. I have a question. If I have two symmetrical objects, which are flipped right-left with respect to each other, how do I increase the distance between them uniformly? I mean I have a central point, and I want to move them both equally away from that point.
2:00 I have the CTRL-mousewheel option flipped, so it zooms without the CTRL key down. I find this much more convenient. I don’t bother using the mousewheel for scrolling, since dragging with the middle mouse button works fine.
Your videos on Inkscape are really great. I learned a lot from them. Could you please make a video on different types of SVG export options? I am having trouble uploading the SVG files to the Canva. I tried the Optimised SVG options but yet got upload error while uploading it to Canva.
Thanks so much. Is there any advice on how to do it with B and L? The curves of the B made it hard for me to figure out how to do it. I will keep trying myself in the meantime.
Hey Nick, do you know if there's a version of the Inset effect (similar to the Outset effect you found in the Path Effects) in which you can insert the amount of inset in pixels? Thanks so much.
Hello Nick, thanks for all your Inkscape design tutorials. It's awesome. However, I still have one question in my mind. It is about selling Inkscape templates. I know I can sell SVG dan EPS templates. But, how do I ensure that my SVG or EPS templates can be opened in Illustrator without any flaw? Could you please make a tutorial about that? Thanks.
Can anyone help? Whenever I'm making a shape it seems mirrored? Like the ellipse is making some weird shapes like an eye or something. Idk what happened. Nevermind, it was just stroke style.
This might be less an Inkscape how-to and more a designer-brain how-to, but I'd like to know how one might take a fantasy font and make it extra swoopy (more swashes, etc.) for a book title/fantasy series logo...and still make it look good. :) You know, so it's not overdone. I hope you'll consider it for a future vid.
Could you make a Video where you recreate a logo? In this case I would like to see how you would recreate the logo of Seven Lions or Virtual Riot. For me these types of logos are really complicated to understand how they are made and I would like to have my own logo in this style... Thank you:)
With the X, would it not have been easier to duplicate the first offset before you do the intersection for the E so you don't have to repeat for the A?
When I try to separate the letters "ungroup" seems to do nothing. I tried "split path" and that seems to do the same thing. Am I doing something wrong? Does it do the same thing?
Yes, it's built into the app. Go to Edit on the toolbar and navigate to the bottom of the list and click Preferences (Shift+CTRL+P), click the arror next to Interface, click Theme, and to the right Change Gtk theme and select HighContrastInverse. Which will give Inkscape a dark theme and you should be good to go.
What’s the file size of 1.0? I have slow data Also, will I lose my saved work if I uninstall 0.92.4 to get the new one? I wish there was an update button like apps lol
I'm not sure about the file size. You won't lose your work though. SVG files will still open just fine. You could also install 1.0 separately and keep both versions. Thays what I've done.
@@LogosByNick This may be a dumb question...I want to try 1.0, but not sure if my computer can handle it, so I'll keep the old version just in case, but do I have to first move the older version's program files somewhere else, or is it fine not doing anything with them?
sir please its a humble request can you please provide a tutorial about how to create 2d character or avatars in inkscape i am trying very hard to find such a tutorial it will be a great help please can you upload it and can you please tell me that if it is even possible to create 2d characters or avatar in inkscape? please sir

It is generally a bad idea to adjust kerning manually. If the font is well made, the font designer carefully adjusted the kerning already. The only thing that should be adjusted is letter spacing.
I don't even work in graphic design or study it but these videos are just so fun to watch
Thank you for helping all of us, and showing what incredible tools that exist for free.
You the man Nick! Appreciate your time and patience!
Hey nick, thank you so much for your guides, I've found them very helpful for learning about graphic design for the first time.
You blew my mind away again. You are really incredible and thank you for all the tutorials.
Yo, I'm liking these constant uploads
Awesome content like always, you are very good at teaching and explaining, easy to follow. Keep up with good work
Always worth watching! Thanks.
Thanks for this tutorial Nick. I really need to try this offset feature.

Another awesome tutorial!
Thanks. I have a really old pc. And now learning exciting fun things regularly.
You are a great artist Nick.
Your are talented, thanks for sharing your videos
Thank you so much for this, I remember awhile ago trying to do something similar.
this was extremely simple, thank you
Excellent tutorial! - You can combine Offset with Boolean Operators to make a completely non-destructive text logo!
i forgot about offset. i've tried something similar with strokes and this method seems much easier
Yup. That's how I used to do this sort of thing before this new path effect was introduced.
@@LogosByNick I DONT SEE OFFSET IN PATH EFFECTS. ARE YOU USING 1.0?

Awesome tutorial like always. Please make some tutorials with Affinity Designer too.
Great work, i think it would be better to start giving E an offset to overlap X..to maintain consistent

I also have started using Offset. But, still, sometimes, I habitually use the old trick with Duplicate-Stroke-Break apart-Union!
Same here. I keep forgetting it's there.

I have a question. What will be difference if you used the border or strokes instead of the offset effect?

I know I can sell SVG dan EPS templates. But, how do I ensure that my SVG or EPS templates can be opened in Illustrator without any flaw? Could you please make a tutorial about that? Thanks.
Can I know the difference between path effect offset vs the linked offset? Can linked offset be used to create the same design?
Can this tool be used to perform trapping for screen printing?
Thank you so much, but i don't have Path on my Adobe illustrator menu
Is there a particular reason to use offset? What if I just duplicate and scale the object instead?

will the technique not be affected by copywright?

Yes, you are correct.
@@LogosByNick thanks, wasn't sure if there was a particular reason to do them separately as haven't had a play with offsets yet
Hey Nick, i was not able to ungroup the path, the letters were not selectable one by one. I had to use "path-> split path"
same!
Do you have a tutorial on mirroring symmetry in inkscape?
I just used mirroring symmetry for the first time on the text. Seems to mirror it pretty well. What exactly were you wanting to see a tutorial of?
is microgramma free font for commercial use ?
what is your icon ? nice video
hellow nick!
keyboard shortcuts can be changed at will?
Yes, in Inkscape Preference (control + shift + p)
you forgot the music at the end of the video but the title and artist are still credited lol
When I try to separate the letters "ungroup" seems to do nothing. I tried "split path" and that seems to do the same thing. Am I doing something wrong? Does it do the same thing?
But,i can't get that microgamma font can you give me website's link??
Can this be done in Gimp?
Ungroup didn't work for me (in 2024), so I had to use Path > Split Path.
Thanks😢
HOW MUCH MUCH WOULD U CHARGE FOR A SVG LOGO???
Is there this darktheme in inkscape 1.0?
Yes, it's built into the app. Go to Edit on the toolbar and navigate to the bottom of the list and click Preferences (Shift+CTRL+P), click the arror next to Interface, click Theme, and to the right Change Gtk theme and select HighContrastInverse. Maybe the last time you created an object you set it to that opacity and Inkscape keeps giving you that same opacity everytime you open it?

It's a new feature in version 1.0. You might have to update the software.
