Rope is a really underrated film, but for the time it was released I understand why it didnt succeed. When something is new and innovative people always judge it at first because it is something they have never expirienced before. It was something different than usual

Thanks for watching. Yeah, I agree it must have sounded like a crazy/brave idea at the time. The cost to build the elaborate set so walls could be moved and building a new rig, that had never been done before, to accommodate the camera movement must have been huge. We take it for granted now with modern technology and films like Birdman or Boiling Point that have used the technique that Hitchcock pioneered with this movie. But I agree with you, I can see why it failed at the time, audiences must have found it so different when used to his other movies like The Lady Vanishes and so on.
Hitchcock was always a pioneer and even in failing he achieved a massive step forward in filmmaking technique with this movie, something that had never been done before. I think he would have loved it had he lived long enough to see this technique become common place.
Thanks for the comments its much appreciated, always great to meet another fan. Cheers.
