    if you had TV of 200 then wouldn't you have an effective TV of 50 since the first 150 is wasted?

    Useful enough, but telling people to always increase volume is not that well informed. Volutrauma and barotrauma! The calculation that we use on my in intensive care unit is 6-8 ml/kg rather than 10.
