I love how drakenwild brings out the depth of the lore in Zelda like no other, it’s surprising how underrated drakenwild is when drakenwild explains so much interesting information about hyrule.
I just found this channel by way of CaptBurgerson’s “End of an Era” video. I absolutely love your in-depth, insightful and immensely intelligent take on the many aspects of Zelda lore! I am in the process now of going through them all.
I’ve heard legends of a predator who lived and died to inhibit Calamity Ganon, known as Kraid, and according to one of them, the Zora Champion Mipha once slew one on sight with her Divine Beast, a so-called “impossible” feat. During the Great Calamity, the other Kraids got Blighted out of existence.
The new hyrule shown in Tears Of The Kingdom will be a fun one to explore, new monsters, new weapons and items, i just hope the dungeons and temples are a little bit more different this time!
I'd love to see a hybrid between the new and old dungeon style! I find physics based puzzles far more interesting than any room puzzles we had in Zelda previously but it'd be so nice to have unique aesthetics for each dungeon and for dungeon navigation to play a bigger role. That said, Shrines were very nice, too.
We've been shown that much of the items and powers left by the goddesses are completely neutral to whom gets it. Demise and his malice is completely at war with the goddess power, yet the tryforce of power is attached to gannon often. On one side it says Goddess Din is on Demise's side. However Din often helps the hero stop Gannon instead. Either directly or by powered items. The goddesses themselves are not neutral. We've seen them change the world multiple times to stop evil. However, this is only in the worst case scenarios. The best hypothesis I can come up with? The 3 triforce pieces did not have a name originally. And each part earned the name based on the type of people they would attach to. This most often being the reincarnated hylia, reincarnated demise, and the reincarnated hero. The spirit of the hero is a God. Perhaps completely originated by humanity. Ment to be the collective best of what we are. So it isn't so much the gods make a hero when evil arises. A hero is born from humanity whenever the gods mettle too much in our affairs. Most often because of malice. But once because the gods flooded us and we needed to tell them to knock it off. (If the king of red lions had not intervened, hyrule would have stayed flooded) Courage is the will of life itself. Bellow the power of the gods but also above the adaptability of their set old ways. The goddess of wisdom knows not to anger courage, the God of power doesn't have a choice. With our new green energy I'm curious if we will get to find out the orogin of the spirit of the hero in detail. As the triforce of courage predates skyward sword and thus that first link isn't the maker so somebody akin to hylia and demise personify it and reincarnate as links.
I don't recall any instance when Goddesses intervened directly while Link was fighting Ganon/Ganondorf, things like that only ever happened off screen. I don't think powered items count as them showing their support to either side, too, these are just relics, existing in the world. I like your idea about Spirit of the Hero though! It's very interesting and it does make sense in the wider context :D
@@Drakenwild I was having a hard time thinking of times the 3 goddesses had a direct effect on the land. And you are right. All sets of divine intervention are either sourced from zelda or lesser gods you've met in the respective game. At no point have the goddesses ever made any impact other than being referred to by name from objects that "reprisent" what they are. I tried looking it up and it almost seams like the goddesses might not even exist. At least not as Hylia obviously does. The more I read it seams like the golden goddesses are metaphorical. Din carved the earth. War. Nayru brought order and wisdom. Piece talks and/or victory. Ferore brought life. Regrowth from the ashes. The names used as lessons for later generations. Turned into ancient gods that made the planet what it is. With relics, objects, and spirits that relate to whomever of the 3. Earning the namesake of that goddess. Bit of a shock when I started digging. That we guaranteed have a God of light and a God of malice that make tangible changes in the world. While the 3 goddesses we hear so much about only show up by reference and never by action. I can't fully comprehend what this might mean. Perhaps the golden goddesses never existed as entities? And this entire time even the triforce and the sacred realm have been technology that allow time and dimension hopping? Lots to think about.
@@judebox9438 I thought it was the Golden Goddesses who flooded Hyrule in Wind Waker but upon reviewing the intro cutscene and the wiki, they don't seem to be actually called out by name, huh. That is certainly an interesting choice. Also, re what you said about the Triforce, there is that saying - when technology is advanced enough, it appears as if it is magic. So theorethically, Triforce and Sacred Realm being some form of hyper advanced technology from far future isn't out of the question, though there isn't a lot of evidence to support that idea. It is fun to speculate like that though!
@@Drakenwild There is also the existence of the 3 Oracles who's names are the same as that of the 3 Golden Goddesses: Din the Oracle of Seasons (who ressembles a Gerudo), Nayru the Oracle of Ages and Farore the Oracle of Secrets. While they are more likely NOT the Golden Goddesses in mortal form it's possible that their status as Oracles was given by the Goddesses themselves for the purpose of assisting Link on his Quest in the lands of Holodrum and Labrynna. PS: I love your content! Your videos are so well written and thorough i'm almost sure we'll see them become factual once Tears of the Kingdom comes out. May your channel continue to grow with such great content and quality!
just had a thought, we never got a dragon for ordon, like the 4 light spirits. i know the dragons are trinity based because of the try-forks, but i wonder if an ordon dragon will be a zonai/totk thing?
I don't think Ordon is a deity, it is never mentioned outside of the context of Light Spirits. Instead, Ordona might be related to Hylia, since she is the fourth known god in the Zelda universe and seems to be lower in hierarchy than the Golden Goddesses are. No clue if we'll be getting a fourth dragon. Personally I don't think so but we shall see when the game is out.
Hah, thank you! It could be an interesting fan fic for sure ^^ The funny part is that I wrote this mostly because I really wanted to point out that dragons are literally carving the landscape, lol
I mean, yes. All evil and monsters trace back to Din because she is the Goddess of Power. That said, I believe Demise is level with Hylia in terms of influence and power, so he is probably acting as the middleman and taking care of demons and monsters, so to speak, just like Hylia is taking care of intelligent life.
@@generaltechnomage306 I imagine that'd be a right mess, lol. Death as a concept would probably be gone immediately, monsters might calm down somewhat as concept of evil deteriorates and first years are probably pretty nice. Then the planet starts slowly but surely overpopulating with people, animals and monsters and is tortured by famine and general lack of liveable space.
@@Drakenwild Interesting. Plus, without Din, the lifeforms of the planet would be completely defenseless against foreign adversaries that weren't created or influenced by the Golden Goddesses (for example, aliens that came from a planet created by a different deity).
@@generaltechnomage306 yep, if we assume such planets exist in this universe. I'm more of an opinion that Golden Goddesses are responsible for the universe as a whole but we can't know that until Zelda games go extraterrestial, lol.
Expected: The end of hyrule is approaching rapidly and an epic apocalyptic event will begin that will start ripping apart reality with courage being the only power opposing the conflict between power and wisdom! Reality: Demon king? Secret stone?
This is so good. You gave me so much to think about...
Always a pleasure ;)
