Employer NI is a tax on jobs and will affect 'working people' (still not seen a definition from Labour). It will result in fewer people being hired and costs being passed on to consumers . Ultimately it will hinder economic growth

Part of Labour's problem is because none of them have business experience they rely on others to tell them what business needs. That tends to come from corporates who have better access to govt. and so they convince themselves that corporation tax rate is the more important than NI, when a lot of SMEs will be on a different rate anyway.
Lies and more lies.Manufactures will not invest coz UK has highest energy costs in Europe and most of the rest of the world, now it seems employment of ppl is not only going to be more expensive,it`s going to be more onerous to do so.
The most successful countries economically tend to have low business taxation or significant natural resources. We are increasing business taxation and reducing our exploitation of our natural resources. Ultimately this will lead to reduced tax income and austerity unless there are changes.
The problem with that argument is that those oil and gas businesses don't pay tax. Shell for example didn't pay a single penny in UK taxes between 2017 & 2022. There was more tax paid by renewable energy companies than fossil fuel companies in the last year.
@@stevec6427 BP paid £4.3 billion last year. These companies are multinational and only a fraction of their business is producing in the UK. The remaining producers pay 75% tax albeit thre are reliefs for investment. It would be fairly easy for Shell and BP to register their businesses in oter countries and if that happened the tax paid in the UK would reduce by billions. Forgive me but. Does anyone believe that the 68 billion was decided at a single conference rather than something that was negotiated over a number of years, previously to this government. Why wasn't he asked how much was decided upon the day? I suggest that anyone thinking of investing several millions and employ hundreds/thousands of people would probably need some planning.
Yes, government will raise employers contribution for insurance, that is what politicians do, it's in their very nature. He says not on directly removing it from a worker's pay, he is. That is their next pay raise at work.
Deception is the act of convincing one or many recipients of untrue information. The person creating the deception knows it to be false while the receiver of the message has a tendency to believe it (although it is not always the case).
What a little mummy's boy delivering the government's voice in the style of a birds and bees talk. Does the Labour Party think that their electorate will respond positively to being talked down to in such a condescending way.
Its going to get worse Labour are about to increase employers NI in the budget. This will of course increase unemployment, why, even todays latest released figures show monthly unemployment people signing on is up 40% above estimates. Look after your jobs because Labour are about to destroy millions of them...
Yeah right the same argument was made when the national minimum wage was introduced. The millions of job losses didn’t materialise then and won’t happen if the employers NI goes up.
National minimum wage was introduced to help employers pay the absolute minimum not help the workers. National insurance for employers directly impacts the employer negatively not positively.
@@George57 Minimum wage only affected a small portion of the labour force and kept the money in the private sector. Employers NI affects the whole market and the money all goes to the govt's piggy bank, to be re-directed to Aslef, Unite, Unison etc. members.
The name of this wretched tax reminds us of its original purpose, but for decades it has been used simply as another means to gouge more taxes. When it was used as intended it was a relatively small tax that no one minded paying. It would be far simpler, and much more honest to abolish this tax and incorporate it into income tax and corporation tax. But more complicated tax systems give weasel politicians more room to wriggle.
Tax rises on business have NEVER correlated with a reduction in inwards investment. Businesses don't care about tax, all they care about is the bottom line and if Labour can improve the economy so that their businesses make more money then who cares if there's a little more tax?
@@stevec6427 Yes, ultimately if they increase employers NI by 1% all that businesses will do is reduce pay rises by that much next year. It's still coming from 'working people' but the govt. will hope people don't realise because there's a slightly delayed effect.
What’s amusing is that even when confronted with the reality of tories spaffing hundreds of billions up the wall and the lunacy of a non sentient Think Tank lettuce installation at No 10, they still wag their pointy fingers. Bonkers stuff!
Yet exports grew after 2010 until Covid struck but had started to recover 22/23. Yet the Tories did repair the economy of Brown's recession. And austerity was Darling's initiative which Osbourne continued with. Not that Osbourne got it all right. Those who do lose the allowance are losing the equivalent of £3.85 per week. It's nothing. Most pensioners will still qualify for it anyway
