I'm gonna apologize in advance, 'cause my comment's gonna be a long one, but you and y'boy seem genuinely curious about BTS and their music, so I'm gonna go for it! :D First, the lyrics to "Black Swan" are inspired, in part, by a famous quote by Martha Graham, an iconic American modern dance choreographer: "A dancer dies twice - once when they stop dancing, and this first death is the more painful." (Note that these standards are being challenged more and more as K-pop starts to become more pervasive in the international markets, and subsequently are influenced by Western culture.) DISCLAIMER: Most of what I'm about to write is based on what I've learned about the K-pop and Korean culture via ARMY videos and documentaries. I am NOT claiming to be an expert! Typically, there are at least 3 subunits in a band, and these subunits are called "lines." There is usually a vocal line, a dance line, and a visual line. (The visual line is something that is not really used in Western pop music. It's literally a person or persons who is/are in charge of being the charming and/or handsome/beautiful face of the group.) For a group like BTS, which is rooted in hip hop culture, there is also a rap line. And then each line will have its "leads" and its "mains." The leads often have featured solos in songs or choreos, while mains are usually the strongest vocalist/rapper/dancer of the group and have the most solos. In BTS, Jung Kook is the main vocal, while Jin, Jimin, and V are lead vocalists, and J-Hope is a subvocalist. RM is the main rapper, while SUGA and j-hope are lead rappers, and Jung Kook is a subrapper. Jimin and j-hope are the main dancers, while V and Jung Kook are lead dancers. (j-hope is also the group's dance leader, which means that he's in charge of leading "refresher" dance rehearsals, and makes sure that everyone is together, synchronized, and on point.) Jin is the main visual, while V is the lead visual (although I believe, these days, they're both considered main visuals). Third, there are team and/or social roles that members will have: the leader, the center, the hyung(s), and the maknae(s). The leader of the group -- in the case of BTS, this is RM -- is the member who is responsible for liaising between the members and the label/company, as well as between the members themselves. The leader also usually is the point person for press conferences, will lead the group's greeting ("Hi [bow], we are BTS!"), and is in charge of making sure the members stay focused and united in their work and performances. Think of him as a sort of Class President + chaperone. :) The important thing to know about the leader position is that it comes with NO additional benefits (i.e., extra pay), but requires a lot of additional time and effort, and just basic maturity, TBH. And RM is known to be one of the best in the business. (As you get to know the guys better -- which I hope you will! -- I think you'll come to this conclusion yourself. The center for a group is usually literally in the center of the choreo and performances, and is considered the "face of the group." They're also often the most versatile member and the biggest heartthrob. :) For BTS, this is Jung Kook, who is also the maknae (see below for that explanation). The hyung and the maknae definitions are pretty simple: The oldest/older male, and the youngest male, respectively. (The terminology is different for females.) Culturally, this plays a significant role, particularly in South Korea. Being the hyung/oldest usually means that everyone else has to do as you say and treat you with respect and deference, while being the maknae/youngest means you have to concede to the wishes of your hyungs, regardless of your preferences. (You're also generally expected to the cutest of the group, and are supposed to lure in the younger fans as a result of how adorable you are.) If you're lucky -- as Jung Kook is, IMHO -- you'll have kind hyungs who take your feelings into consideration when asking you to do things for them. For BTS, Jin is the hyung and Jung Kook is the maknae. And while you'll often see that the members still use what are called "honorifics" with each other -- an honorific is "a title or word implying or expressing high status, politeness, or respect"; it's a huge thing in Asian cultures, generally -- you will also see that they often are more casual with how they address each other, and will sometimes even tease each other by dropping the honorifics. So, to sum up, here's the TL;DR: -- BTS has a rap line, a vocal line, a dance line, and a visual line. -- Rap line = RM, SUGA, and j-hope (+ sometimes Jung Kook) -- Vocal line = Junk Kook, Jin, Jimin, and V (+ sometimes j-hope) -- Dance line = j-hope, Jimin, V, and Jung Kook -- Visual line = Jin and V -- BTS leader = RM -- BTS center = Jung Kook -- BTS dance leader = j-hope -- BTS hyung = Jin -- BTS maknae = Jung Kook Anyway, that's a lot already from me, but I think gives some good context, and I'm sure other commenters (if they read all of this) will add to or correct any of my misstatements where they find them. The last thing I wanna offer are some suggestions for songs that I think you'd like, given that you seem to be fans of hip hop and rap: -- RM "Joke" and "Intro: Persona" -- J-Hope "Airplane" (not "Airplane Pt.2," which is also excellent, but is Latin and not hip hop) and "Chicken Noodle Soup" ft. Becky G -- SUGA "Interlude: Shadow" (I see you've already reacted to "Daechwita" and "Agust D") -- BTS rap line's Cyphers 1-4 (my personal fave is No. 4, but most hip hop fans love Nos. 2 & 3) -- BTS's debut single, "No More Dream" (their first-ever MV, and you can really see the hip hop influence in this one) -- V "Intro: Singularity" (not rap, but a gorgeous R&B track)
Y'all Didn't see the end when they posed the choreography and the shadow at the end disappears so please pay attention til the end cus might be some clues to the story of it and their songs and videos are about stories not relationships so if they mentioned a girl doesn't mean it's about a girl it just sounds better than if saying friends or something but thanks for liking the song one of my faves. Welcome to the journey of BTS I'm only 6 months Army been watching all their videos and songs everyday since I joined the Army the song "Idol" is what got me into BTS since I saw them perform live on a tv show.
Hi. The world-renowned choreographer Martha Graham once said, “a dancer dies twice - once when they stop dancing, and this first death is the more painful.” BTS usually uses its platform to bring up issues and ideas from different Artists/psychologists around the world. This song is basically talking about the fear of losing their passion.
No hate intended, but did you just say they need to work harder?! My mans, are you kidding me, lol?! But for real, you guys definitely need to do a BTS guide before reacting to more BTS, because then you'll learn that these talented kings practice 10+ a day to perfect their choreo. Not to mention that they write and produce a lot their songs including the fire beats. So definitely get to know them personally, and you'll start to appreciate their music on a whole 'nother level for sure.
Welcome to the rabbit hole that is BTS. They don't fit into just one genre. And all of their music has purpose and meaning to it. They don't do music just for fun and entertainment. They want every song to have meaning. And yes they do put so much into their MV's as well. Again they don't just to MV's for the fun. They want them to tell the story of the song. I think you guys would really like Fake Love or Danger. But they have so much content it's hard to suggest what you should do next, lol. I would also suggest a guide or two of theirs so you can learn what they are really about and where they have come from. I suggest This Is BTS: Introduction pt 1, The Most Beautiful Life Goes on: Story Of BTS, and Who Is BTS: The Seven Members of Bangtan. Thanks for your reaction and I hope you continue your journey 💜💜💜
I'm 56 and I'm ARMY! I started watching BTS during quarantine and it was love at first listen. I'd never been interested in kpop until BTS. Check out live performances.. I love all the live cyphers , live outro tear..stigma, singularity just watch any live performance they are TOP TIER!! You'll never say again they need to work harder!
I personally think this is good so they already have a grasp on what BTS is about. Especially, shouting out those three rappers RM, Suga, and J-Hope and they know them when they are spitting.
You gotta check out “The Most Beautiful Life Goes On: A Story of BTS” by The Asian Theory. It is currently the best introduction video for the boys out there ! Very good information
This song is about loosing passion for what you love and that would be a first death. And that goes for anyone in this world. You have to enjoy what you do and love it. If you didn’t then what’s the point. These boys are speaking truth....
Don’t worry! They don’t disappoint 💜 I’m 45 years old and I love BTS. Have been an ARMY since 2019 because of my daughter introduced me. This is one of my favorites 💜 Makes me feel some type of way. Those edits got me🤣🤣🤣
I think you would really enjoy comparing the two videos they put out for ‘ON’- you will be blown away by the dancing in the kinetic manifesto version, and the cinema version is unlike anything you have seen from them before 💜
They don’t need to work harder... BTS are the most hard working band in the world. They practice 16+ hours a day to perfect themselves for Army to the point where during concerts they have passed out from exhaustion and they all need to have oxygen machines on standby because they dance so hard.
Black swan is about losing ones passion. So the shadow represents the fear of losing the passion. The shadow is circling around them, following them, and they’re scared it will engulf and take over them. To lose their passion for music would be “how they die their first deaths”. It’s based on a quote about how a dancer will die their first death when they can no longer dance! So it’s about never wanting to lose what makes their body vibrate as they don’t want to lose something that resonates with their hearts! At the end of the video the shadow goes back down representing that they suppressed/got rid of that shadow and that losing the passion isn’t going to happen (soon). It also represents them becoming inspired again!
Omg I sincerely love your reactions! Most people don't truly take the time to read the lyrics and analyze what it's about. They just watch it, make a few remarks and get their views. You guys are great!!
I really hope you see this comment, When you said "they need to work harder" I completely understand what u meant and I know u didn't intend to let it come over as any form of hate. However, as you see bts sings, dances, and they rap, on top of that when they're live they don't lip sync (there is a bit backtrack) (They do choreo + singing live) and they tend to push themselves and overwork in a unhealthy way just to put up a good peformamce for army ( for example, they could be in a concert, feeling dizzy and ready to faint, but instead of skipping a song they rather push it ). It's understandable you guys didn't know this yet but for this reason armys could feel offended (but again I knew what u meant dw). You probaly didn't know this but BTS litterally started with nothing ( they handed flyers out on the streets for their FREE concerts ) to getting nominated a for a grammys. I hope u understand a bit more why some armys might reacted a little harsh, but it's okay! I loved ur reaction and I hope to see more!
3:17 "about a female" please don't assume sexuality, just say relationship or something. And no it's not about a romantic relationship. They hardly ever use gender specific pronouns, they did sometimes years back but not now. And their songs are not often about that type of relationships but it does happen.
You should resct to agust d - daechwita or what do you think, (he is aka. Suga, one of the members of bts) and "the Seven member of bts by XCeleste" is a helpful guide to learn more about each member 🤙
Here's a good rule of thumb when it comes to BTS songs... they are almost NEVER talking about romantic love... at least not only that. There are always layers to every BTS song and more often than not, they are talking about self love or parental/friendship relationships. Some of their older songs are your typical girl-crush-type songs, but you need to look a LOT deeper to understand BTS lyrics. In THIS CASE... they are talking about their love of and for music/performance and their fear of losing their passion for them. 'What if it no longer makes my heart beat? That would my first death.' There are two different behind the scenes / making-of videos for this MV. One show all of them and their process for the MV while the other it just Jimin and his dance solo.
Boooi, Imma enjoy watching you both fall down this rabbit hole for real-real, NO CAP. 😌🙌🏾💜 Also i'm glad you actually thought through the lyrics because even though it wasn't clear you at least did realise it couldn't have been about a girl, which BTS rarely do speak about (actually as I think about it maybe it was more when they were younger?) anyways looking forward to your next reaction!
I’m here for your BTS reactions..thank you for having an open mind and checking these boys out..I’m looking forward to you guys checking out more of their music and even what they are all about..these guys really are amazing at everything and yet so humble..looking forward to the next one..💜💜
I find it so fascinating the journey people go on when finding BTS especially if most of the music they listen to isn't rich in substance (not saying what you listened to wasn't I wouldn't know) but BTS songs are almost always layered with symbolism and message ON Kinetic Manifesto is a must watch
Thank you for reacting to BTS. I am fairly new Army fan. But I love these boys so talented and they don't just go by talented they care about their songs and messages. They are amazing. There are only a handful of k-pop groups that are self producing, Big Bang, BTS, are on the top of that list. No one could predict that BTS would be as big if not bigger that G-Dragon or Big Bang but they did it. Another self producing boy group that is coming up in ranks is Stray kids. They are also very talented and have been accredited for over 100 copyrighted songs which is saying a lot since they debuted in 2018. They also care about the meaning in their songs. Stray Kids dont have a style or genre they just produce amazing songs with impactful meanings like BTS. Love to see more BTS reactions and if will be there when you venture out to other kpop groups like Stray Kids, Ateez, Ikon, BtoB, The Boyz, SF9, Pentagon, Victon, NCT 127, Oneus, TXT, Treasure, Super M, Taemin, Woodz, or Kang Daniel.

Black Swan is about the loss of passion for music, for someone who's life is all about music, it would feel like dying. But in the song they over come this, they look into themselves and find a way to pull through. Black Swan is from their Map of the Soul 7 album which is inspired by psychologist Carl Jung's Map of the Soul. BTS use his topics of Persona, Shadow and Ego to look into themselves to gain more knowledge of who they are. I recommend the solo tracks from the rapline; Persona, Shadow and Ego, as well as ON from the same album. Or maybe just listening to the whole album. Black Swan is about BTS's love for music but when it came out I was in a dark place, and I realized that I was losing passion for life itself, wasn't taking care of myself wasn't looking forward to another day, I was going through the motions of life without giving it any attention. Black Swan moved me and I was able to life myself out of my rutt, I come back to it often. BTS songs will often have a different meaning when you look at the lyrics vs just hearing the song Fake Love and Singularity are great examples of this, it's always good to enjoy BTS on different levels. Their discography is diverse, so you will have songs that will have you thinking, some that will get you dancing, some will get you crying, or singing, and sometimes you will do all of it at once. I'm 39 years old and I have never come across an artist who is doing it like BTS, they work hard for their fans, the more love they receive the more they want to do better, to improve. They definitely have what it takes.

Jimin is armys black swan as this song was made for him so he can show off his contemporary dance skills, This song was made for him and you can tell the passion he has for his dance just by watching this. Jimin is and will always be my black swan that swooped down to save me
This song is not made for Jimin, the better qoute is "This song suits Jimin's dancing skills" that's it, because the meaning of this song is not about Jimin, it's about all of them and their love for music!
@@ms.nicamagahis4889 it wasn't literally made for him they're saying it fits him the best because of his contemporary background. The comment was just stating facts so no need to be rude.

One thing you got to know. Never ever stop watching till the end of the MV. BTS always has a special ending (a surprise) you weren’t expecting. It appears you missed it - the ending. Bummer.

You will love their "On(Kinetic manifesto film)"!! And if you are interested in rap, you can check "Daechwiita" by AGUST D. AGUST D is a rapper in BTS.
When what you are passionate about also is your job, what happens if you feel that you lose your passion and lose all joy in it? It would be impossible to go on and force yourself as both dance and singing must come out passion and can't be faked as the audience would see and there would be no creativity with no passion. Their passion for what they do and the creativity it brings, is their life.

So, to sum up, here's the TL;DR:
-- BTS has a rap line, a vocal line, a dance line, and a visual line.
-- Rap line = RM, SUGA, and j-hope (+ sometimes Jung Kook)
-- Vocal line = Junk Kook, Jin, Jimin, and V (+ sometimes j-hope)
-- Dance line = j-hope, Jimin, V, and Jung Kook
-- Visual line = Jin and V
-- BTS leader = RM
-- BTS center = Jung Kook
-- BTS dance leader = j-hope
-- BTS hyung = Jin
-- BTS maknae = Jung Kook
Anyway, that's a lot already from me, but I think gives some good context, and I'm sure other commenters (if they read all of this) will add to or correct any of my misstatements where they find them.
The last thing I wanna offer are some suggestions for songs that I think you'd like, given that you seem to be fans of hip hop and rap:
-- RM "Joke" and "Intro: Persona"
-- J-Hope "Airplane" (not "Airplane Pt.2," which is also excellent, but is Latin and not hip hop) and "Chicken Noodle Soup" ft. Becky G
-- SUGA "Interlude: Shadow" (I see you've already reacted to "Daechwita" and "Agust D")
-- BTS rap line's Cyphers 1-4 (my personal fave is No. 4, but most hip hop fans love Nos. 2 & 3)
-- BTS's debut single, "No More Dream" (their first-ever MV, and you can really see the hip hop influence in this one)
-- V "Intro: Singularity" (not rap, but a gorgeous R&B track)
PS -- If you react to RM "Joke," make sure you Google the MV with subtitles. :D
youll be surprised how creative their live performances are as what they are with their mv’s 😊
Swan Lake Ballet... Black Swan Movie. BTS has 3 different version including a contemporary ballet dance version. If you going... go deep! 💜🎶💜
Hi. The world-renowned choreographer Martha Graham once said, “a dancer dies twice - once when they stop dancing, and this first death is the more painful.”
BTS usually uses its platform to bring up issues and ideas from different Artists/psychologists around the world.
I agree
Amen !
React to “who is Bts introduction video” I think the title some like that😂😂😂 so you can learn all the members
That's right...better know the boys first.theres a lot more to learn from them.
Yes I was about comment that
Well I think they should react to more music first before they do intro tbh..
I personally think this is good so they already have a grasp on what BTS is about. Especially, shouting out those three rappers RM, Suga, and J-Hope and they know them when they are spitting.
Please react to this video!! I would really appreciate it as well as the army💜
React to"BTS the most beautiful moment in life" or "BTS the seven members"
if you want to know what the group is about and what they stand for : react to This is BTS by xceleste and Who Is BTS The 7 Members of Bangtan
And This is BTS ARMY also by XCeleste. 👍
Don’t worry! They don’t disappoint 💜 I’m 45 years old and I love BTS. Have been an ARMY since 2019 because of my daughter introduced me. This is one of my favorites 💜 Makes me feel some type of way. Those edits got me🤣🤣🤣
I think you would really enjoy comparing the two videos they put out for ‘ON’- you will be blown away by the dancing in the kinetic manifesto version, and the cinema version is unlike anything you have seen from them before 💜
ON dance is not even their best one tbh. They've far better dancing songs but i guess its newer so people always recommend it.
Y’all NEED to react to on kinetic manifesto and the tiny desk concert both BTS.
I clicked fast when I saw BTS 💗 love y’all’s reaction I hope y’all will continue with reacting to them
They don’t need to work harder... BTS are the most hard working band in the world. They practice 16+ hours a day to perfect themselves for Army to the point where during concerts they have passed out from exhaustion and they all need to have oxygen machines on standby because they dance so hard.
Arrrrmyyyyyy checking out🤗🤗🤗🤗 more reaction live performance idol
Blood sweat and tears music video is the only next logical reaction! Love that for you
Omg I sincerely love your reactions!
They already have
Thanks again for reacting to BTS. To make it simple for you guys this song it's about the fear of loosing their passion for music.
You guys are so relaxed and open minded.
That would my first death.'
There are two different behind the scenes / making-of videos for this MV. One show all of them and their process for the MV while the other it just Jimin and his dance solo.
ON Manifesto. You will love that shit! Welcome to the world of BTS. Enjoy.
One of my fave videos & song..the vocals and dance just incredible
Yes Bts Everything Perfect
I recommend you watch BTS "ON Kinetic Manifesto" please
Boooi, Imma enjoy watching you both fall down this rabbit hole for real-real, NO CAP. 😌🙌🏾💜
Also i'm glad you actually thought through the lyrics because even though it wasn't clear you at least did realise it couldn't have been about a girl, which BTS rarely do speak about (actually as I think about it maybe it was more when they were younger?) anyways looking forward to your next reaction!
I’m here for your BTS reactions..thank you for having an open mind and checking these boys out..I’m looking forward to you guys checking out more of their music and even what they are all about..these guys really are amazing at everything and yet so humble..looking forward to the next one..💜💜
I find it so fascinating the journey people go on when finding BTS especially if most of the music they listen to isn't rich in substance (not saying what you listened to wasn't I wouldn't know) but BTS songs are almost always layered with symbolism and message
ON Kinetic Manifesto is a must watch
Black Swan Str8 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥❤️👌🏽🌏✊🏽💯

They definitely have what it takes.
can you please react to THIS IS BTS | Introduction to BTS by eCeleste . and also Who is BTS?: The Seven Members of Bangtan (INTRODUCTION) by SUGA & spice

if you guys are ever looking for some videos other than their music, that really display their personalities and how funny they can be, I also recommend bts being a mess on vlive by the channel “affectaed”
Yes personality videos! They should react to an introduction first tho
💜🇧🇷💜that’s until today my favorite song by BTS. Thanks
Jimin is armys black swan as this song was made for him so he can show off his contemporary dance skills, This song was made for him and you can tell the passion he has for his dance just by watching this.
Jimin is and will always be my black swan that swooped down to save me
Thank you for your comment I love it ♥️👍🇫🇷
This song is not made for Jimin, the better qoute is "This song suits Jimin's dancing skills" that's it, because the meaning of this song is not about Jimin, it's about all of them and their love for music!
@@ms.nicamagahis4889 it wasn't literally made for him they're saying it fits him the best because of his contemporary background. The comment was just stating facts so no need to be rude.
@@dr6959 read it carefully she literally said it was made for Jimin, and I'm not being rude at all, english is not my first language so my phrases or sentences are not like a native english speaker so it maybe look rude to you but I'm not being rude I'm saying this because this can results someone getting another information which is kinda not correct!
@@ms.nicamagahis4889 you are not being rude at all just explaining the quote there was nothing wrong with you English and the original comment did say twice that the song was literally made for Jimin loving life is confused about something
I LOVE UR HONEST AND DONT FORCE URSELF TO LIKE OR UNDERSTAND JUST BE HONEST! ASK QUESTIONS WE WILL ANSWER AS LONG U RESPECTFUL♥️
Please reaction introduction to bts

You guys should react to Xceleste Nobodies to legends 2019. You would love that and to understand what BTS have gone through to get where they are at now. They are the biggest group worldwide.
Great reactions always, you nice keep going 😊💜
You should react to bts save me , fake love , idol and there any song bts songs are so good
You will love their "On(Kinetic manifesto film)"!! And if you are interested in rap, you can check "Daechwiita" by AGUST D. AGUST D is a rapper in BTS.
They already reacted to daewchita
When what you are passionate about also is your job, what happens if you feel that you lose your passion and lose all joy in it? It would be impossible to go on and force yourself as both dance and singing must come out passion and can't be faked as the audience would see and there would be no creativity with no passion. Their passion for what they do and the creativity it brings, is their life.
Can you please react to UGH, Ddaeng, Cypher pt 1-3 those are by the rap line of the group and also each member their own songs.
Suga aka Agust D- Daechwita, The Last, Agust D
RM- Do You, Joke, Seoul
Jhope- Chicken Noodle Soup, Daydream, Outro: Ego
Jimin- Serendipity, Filter live performance
Jungkook- My Time live performance, Euphoria, Begin
V- Singularity, Stigma, 00:00
Jin- Epiphany, Awake, Moon
For some of these, you can choose whether you want to watch the live performances or the MVs, if you could do both that would be great. Also if you want to get to know the members and what the group is about, I recommend reacting to 'The Most Beautiful Life Goes On: A Story of BTS' and 'Who is BTS? The seven members of Bangtan'
Yes your right, they are very creative
React to bts On kinetic manifesto film
Have you watched Not Today, On Kinetic Manifesto Film, Fire and Danger?

This song is a masterpiece
And they don't have a genre they ARE a genre . They do hip hop,r & b ,pop,latin,edm ..like I said ARE a genre 👑
You should react to Boy In Luv💜
React to "Fire" with this friend. It's one of bts's best earlier work. "War of Hormone" is also hype and different.
I recommend who is BTS Introduction to BTS by xceleste!! It is a really good
Their lyrics are really deep and sometimes you have to read the lyrics more than once. Sometimes you also won’t get the meaning of the song until you read all the lyrics till the end. Also their videos help tell their story and sometimes interconnect to tell a bigger story.
I recommend introduction videos like . “This is BTS” from Xceleste if you want to get to know more about them
Let the mv stop on its own. You missed the ps.
Oh Please Enjoy ❤️
even if you don't get the meaning right away
(because they can go keep)
Thank you for your reaction ❤️
Please react to "BTS From nobodies to Legends 2019"......Black Swan is about an Artists fear of losing passion or the ability to perform ..a "first death"........It could even be applied to like an athlete
Suggestion : always make sure you watch every BTS video till the end. Lots of times, there’s always more , so when you think it’s over....it’s not. In this one, you missed the ending. Thank you for reacting to our beloved BTS 💜🇨🇦
I know everybody keep telling me I got y’all for now on💯
They have a lot of creative music and music videos. Their live performances is something else. There are a lot of good suggestions. I will not recommend anything. I hope to see more bts reactions 💜 Army from Ukraine
