2024.12.21 Photomyne Review

Since my retirement five years ago, I have been using Photomyne, and this review encapsulates my experiences throughout that period. My main objective was to preserve our family albums, including those created by my father for his children.
A crucial aspect of this project was to label the photographs so that future generations would be informed about the events depicted, including the date, location, and participants involved.
Additionally, I aimed not only to label the images but also to embed this information within the metadata of each photograph.
When scanning tens of thousands of images accumulated over a lifetime, it is vital for the user interface to be efficient. In this review, I highlight the areas where Photomyne fell short in this regard. On several occasions, when I reached out to their support team, I was informed that my requests were not feasible. As a software developer, I understood that what I was asking was indeed possible, which led me to create my own application to achieve these goals and demonstrate to Photomyne that my requests could be fulfilled.
This review is distinctive in that it not only identifies the shortcomings of Photomyne but also illustrates how these issues could be resolved using an alternative application.

Can you just buy one month?I don’t have too many old photos.After you cancel do you keep the photos you import?

The subscriptions are by the year. The video illustrates how to download the images from your account back to your computer. You can download a single album or all the albums at once. One of my complaints is that you cannot download all the labeled images at once...you must download the labeled images one at a time.

⁠ seems like a lot of $ for 1 year then.Again once I import from the phone app to my iMac do I own them or only while I’m under subscription?
