So this first points to the fact that all of this has to do with imputation. Sin could not be imputed without the law… That’s why the law was given until the seed came, Jesus. When he won on the cross, the imputation took place: arson for his righteousness, if we believed in him. The reconciliation between God and man was set. It was up to each individual to partake through faith and belief in the Son. Once sins were imputed to Christ, they cannot be accounted to believers. Therein lies the mystery, the grace, the freedom.
You mentioned imputation as imputed sin. Imputed sin is the result of our having been credited with the guilt of Adam’s sin (Romans 5:18). To impute is “to take something that belongs to someone and credit it to another’s account,” and imputed sin is Adam’s guilt attributed to or credited to us. All human beings are counted as having sinned in Adam and thus deserving the same punishment for sin as Adam. After Adam's sin, everyone was subject to death, even before the Mosaic Law was given, because of imputed sin, which affects our standing before God. God used the principle of imputation to benefit mankind when He imputed the sin of believers to the account of Jesus Christ, who paid the penalty for that sin-death-on the cross. Imputing our sin to Jesus, God treated Him as if He were a sinner, though He was not, and had Him die for the sins of the entire world (1 John 2:2). It is important to understand that sin was imputed to Him, but He did not inherit it from Adam. He bore the penalty for sin, but He never became a sinner. His pure and perfect nature was untouched by sin. He was treated as though He were guilty of all the sins ever committed by the human race, even though He committed none. God then imputed the righteousness of Christ to believers and credited our accounts with His righteousness, just as He had credited our sins to Christ’s account (2 Corinthians 5:21).
When many of u insist the law(10 commands) existed before it was given at Sinai, how do u reconcile that with Romans 5 and Hebrews? Your understanding is such that,if the law was removed,u would be ok for u to sin. Sin does not need the law to exist. Sin is sin with or without the law. The bible tell us ,To know what is good, but not doing that good,is sin. What law do u break in this case to be regarded as having sinned?
Great point! My wonderful SDA dad cannot understand mutual exclusiveness… when we discuss this topic and I tell him that I’m not under the law because I’ve been born again, he retires with “so you’re just going to go sin everywhere?”. It’s like they cannot reconcile not living in a cage…. For fear they’ll go jump off the cliff because all of a sudden they can. Very tough “wiring” to undo…. I know bc it took me YEARS to undo the wiring… the most amazing realization is that there is no wiring needed…. That the simple “believe and trust Jesus’ work and words and person” is LITERALLY all it is for salvation. Adventism teaches you to look to Jesus so that you can keep the commandments and you can attain righteousness…. Vs looking to Jesus bc you believe in Him and His work like a child- with no worries, knowing he’s paid on your behalf and gives you His reward without knowing from you other than belief in Him.
@@MSteph71 Exactly. We don't need the law to tell us not to do something that we have no desire to do. We died to sin when we were crucified with Christ and were raised as a new creation in His resurrection. That's why the law is not made for the righteous (I Tim 1:9). Only sinners who desire to sin need to be told not to sin. Just like children who need to be told to eat their broccoli and brush their teeth and go to sleep and play nice on the playground. As we mature, these rules are replaced by wisdom. I may not like broccoli, but eating it is good for me. I may not want to go to sleep, but I know that if I don't, I will be tired the next day. When we were children, we acted like children, spoke like children, and reasoned like children. When we grew up we put away childish things (I Cor 13). We don't live by rules, but by the love of God poured into our hearts by the Spirit. Children need the tutorship of the law. Mature sons are led by the Father, like Jesus, always doing what He saw the Father doing, and always speaking what He heard the Father speaking. Nowhere in the Gospels do you see Jesus led by the law.
James 2:23 And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God.
Romans 4:13-18 (KJV) For the promise, that he should be the heir of the world, was not to Abraham, or to his seed, through the law, but through the righteousness of faith. For if they which are of the law be heirs, faith is made void, and the promise made of none effect: Because the law worketh wrath: for where no law is, there is no transgression. Therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace; to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham; who is the father of us all, (as it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were. Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations, according to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed be.
When I quote Galatians I get "which one of the 10 Commandments do you want to get rid of?" It feels like a devil is accusing me. Or other unanswerable Bible Passages for SDA, I get "I don't see the Bible the way you do". What am supposed to do with these?
It shows they really are ignorant of scripture. Nine of the commandments are reiterated in the new covenant. Sabbath keeping is not one of them. They just can't go there because Ellen G white is there ultimate source of truth, not God Almighty's word.
Galatians is their enemy Scripture. Christians are not under the Law of Moses, of which the Decalogue is a part, but we are under the law of Christ (see Galatians 5-6). We are to love God and love people (Matthew 22:36-40). If we’re living in the Spirit, we will be doing just that. We won’t violate God’s moral character. Following the commands “Do not murder,” “Do not steal,” etc., are obvious ways of loving God and loving others. And we will have the fruit of the Spirit, “against such there is no law” (Galatians 5:23). In other words, the qualities the Holy Spirit produces in our lives perfectly conform with God’s law and display His holy character.
Such a deep and thoughtful response, it may take many hours or even days to unpack this spirit led response. Isn’t it amazing that those caught up in the *SDA counterfeit pseudo-Christian organization are blessed with this ability.*
The law existed before sin of man God Lord Yehovah the Lawgiver existed before man sinned God Lord Yehovah the Lawgiver and Covenantgiver before man sinned by breaking the law and transgressing the covenant Man was in righteousness was in righteousness before he sinned Sin is transgression of the law Righteousness is doing the law as commanded

The law existed before sin of man
God Lord Yehovah the Lawgiver existed before man sinned
God Lord Yehovah the Lawgiver and Covenantgiver before man sinned by breaking the law and transgressing the covenant
Man was in righteousness was in righteousness before he sinned
Sin is transgression of the law
Righteousness is doing the law as commanded
You really don't understand what was just said.
Gideon, has your law keeping made you righteous? You have attained sinless perfection now?
