Reminds me when I left my job after 17 years for a new start in a new industry, 6 kids to feed, wife worked from home bills piling up. I started over............literally. You know what? that was 10 years ago. SO fing glad I moved on...............bigger things and I'm a better person. We made it and so can you. Good luck in whatever you do my friend.
Hey Nick, I hear you on a number of fronts. The PTSD will settle down, again. Put your head down, get back at it, & things will $ettle down, all around. Sometimes, ya just gotta put the blinders on, n power through some crappy periods. That 'first' trip you've planned, is the trip of a lifetime!! REALLY looking forward to at least seeing it, vicariously.
I visited the mountains of the Philippines in the mid '80s. There I met an old Filipino man who was a spy/scout for the U.S. He told me, through an interpreter, that Japanese almost caught him, but he hid under a downed tree until they moved on.
dude face it you got fuck over cat should of paid for if it were me I'd take them to court over that but that's just me cause that's pure and simple bullshit Cat should at least paid for half of the repair considering they rebuilt the motor and said that the part. was still good should of did a engine swap and put a Cummins ISX motor instead but again that's just me but least the truck is kinda running and that's all that matters
I will be watching both of your channels. When you make it to Asia let me know, my family and I could show you around some places and make you a meal, etc. Your a cool guy Nick and you never give up. Have a good one. We are going to Japan in two weeks.
Glad to see you back to work! Last two cat rebuilds I've been around both had injectors go within 10k miles don't know if it's a fluke or what. Good luck with everything!
kudos to you for following your dreams im thinking about getting out of trucking myself its a hard decision to have to make but have to do wats best for family good luck brother trucker
Sorry to hear about the troubles with your trucks. I'm in high school, I take a lot of shop classes, which a couple of them require us to use AutoCad. I don't really know how to use it that well, but it's fun to mess around on.
I figure the best thing you could do is take the warranty papers from when the motor got rebuilt initially to a lawyer and make sure that it's worded so that they have to honor it, and get that shit in writing. Then either go back to the dealer/rebuild shop or go to cat corporate and get it honored, and then you should hopefully be golden. Best of luck man.
Sounds awesome nick, looking forward to it I will miss the trucking but you are going on an amazing journey which will be just as good. look after yourself and stay safe man. pat. uk.
Don't limit yourself! Just because your a trucker that doesn't mean you have to talk about trucking and truck driving all the time!!!!! If people don't like it they can go somewhere else (just my thoughts and some encouragement)
Nice video, especially with today marking 75years since pearl Harbor... If you're ever parked in jubitz hit me up, I have a ww2 anti-air gun sight from the British Naval fleets HMS tormentor! Stay safe!
Hey bro, I'm really sorry Trucking hasn't worked out for you. My opinion of Caterpillar, after watching your issues with that engine, are very low right now. Just curious: how are you going to sell off Blue? If I'm a trucker or a trucking company, knowing the issues that you've had with that truck, there is NO way I'm touching it. But I've never been a trucker, so maybe you know something on that front that I don't. In fact, I'm betting on it, lol. Perhaps part it out? Maybe? Anyways, I'll miss you calling out the idiots on the roads, and showing us all just how bad drivers can be out there. That was my favorite part. Boats and ships aren't really my thing, as I have a fear of open seas thanks to a life-long plague of Ménière's Disease (an imbalance of fluid in the Inner Ear that causes bouts of violent dizzy spells). But I do find them interesting to a point, so I'll definitely be subscribing to your channels, and I really can't wait for "Sailing Through History", as I do love and appreciate History in all of its forms. Anyways, I can only wish you the best of luck, with joy and happiness the rest of your life, wherever it may take you.
Park it sell it for its worth & move onward towards your sailing it dreams to live it the best you can. Hope you keep up the sharing on your v-logs like you have listed here so far. I enjoy hearing your struggles your huddling over getting it done in living life basically. But you only live once young so get out there and just do it. Im looking to see you progress to your next level of adventures lived. So, dont stop. Though it may seem slow at times ...many of us just enjoy watching what content you do share. Stay safe and always remember we all took baby steps to proceed getting familiar with just walking once. Some of us like myself do it more often as learning something new has to come in repeats of those once baby steps to complete it first. Before being effecient in faster is made. ;) C-ya!
It's hard to find decent shops/mechanics. I still haven't. Had some hard downtime this year also. About three months recently and also trying to catch up in worst time of year. Good luc to you. I completely understand your perspective wanting to get out. I've been defeated by this industry more times than I want to remember, but I also still haven't found anything more rewarding. I don't have any clever philosophy that'll cheer you up, but I'm confident once you pull yourself out of this hole you'll be rolling like thunder! Stay in it, and keep your chin up. At least you're not mooching off the tax payers! 👍
I know your feeling to get problems because of bad truck. I have bought truck should be nice and good drived. I have had it now about 1 year and 7 months, total costings about reparations over 25 000 Euros, + new wheels etc. Know feeling give up or try to fight. I have allready few years ago give up once, but get after 3 years back again. And only to get new trouble.
Your ocean voyage sounds awesome. I've been very fortunate that I've been through most of these places, especially the Philippines and Thailand but I was even next to Wake Island (we anchored to offload a sailor who tried committing suicide sadly). Australia, New Zealand, etc. Haven't been to Midway island though. I look forward to watching video's of your new adventures on the open ocean. Hope your not one prone to sea sickness though ;-)
First time to watch you.. I usually watch Trucker Josh and then you popped up. Will be interesting to see your desires in the future. I was in the navy and have been to most of those places except for Russia. God Speed .
man just pray to the lord to help you each day and if you will turn your life to your life will change for you . ps you might want to put your boat in the future.
Good luck mate hope it works out for a real fuck up with the last rebuild just typical that the dealers back out on paying for a $50 part the toasted your motor
are you at walcott i80 if so I was pulling out with the oversize dozer as you were coming in u must have had your cb off. anyway I almost turned around to get your autograph lol
Shit 5k a month, hell you could get a brand new truck and wouldn't pay more than 3k a month even with a glider. I mean, doesn't make a whole lot of sense for you since you're wanting to get out of trucking anyway, but just food for thought.
Josh Thomson cat 3406c it was an inframe and a friend of a friend charged me $1,500 for labor. Yes I got out of it cheap. I assume yours was not an inframe
What cat dealer was it that screwed you over? That service manager and the dealer need to loose the Cat name. Not standing behind their work needs to be known by everyone.
Interested in Catamarans & perhaps building one? Go to sailsurfroam.com and drop down to the complete build video gallery of their Spirited 480 kit built catamaran down in Tasmania. Their YT vlog channel is "Sail Surf ROAM" A fascinating story that could be food for thought
Thanks for the update. Looking forward to seeing the project.
Things will get better for you over time. I'm glad you're back for now
Hi renegade trucker. My name is Alex and I just recently joined the truck vlogging community and wanted to officially introduce myself to you!
Sorry to hear about your troubles, good luck with what comes next.
what ever you do nick i'll be watching you know that... and of course dexter love him alot...
My Dad was a WW2 veteran (US Army European theater ) but I have an interest in the air war in the Pacific. Your project sounds highly interesting.

The Filipinos were a great ally to us, it is such a shame the turn their government seems to be taking.
well good luck brother we missed ya..but you gotta do what you gotta do ...looking forward to the future of what your up to

Hi Nick,
I've mentioned your CAT troubles to Todd Gills @Overdrive Magazine. You should reach out to him. He wants to hear from you.
I will reach out to him.
Good. I hope the publicity forces CAT to do the honorable thing.

If it isn't too private of a question (and tell me to pound sand if it is), how are you planning to fund this effort after you leave trucking?
He said he's a disabled vet with ptsd, I suspect he's going back on disability.
I'm gonna miss the trucking videos🤕
Good luck

I was curious about that, 5k/ month for a old truck?
Matthew Kelley Lowboys are expensive. I bet $3500 of that 5k a month is for the trailer.
