Thanks Michael. Yes considering seven or eight years ago people couldn't give them away and they had no scrap value it's nice now the table has turned somewhat.
@@BharKishChats Thanks. He's off the road with a gearbox issue at the moment but he's still fired up moved around (gently!). He will be fixed and will be back!
@@JakeSCOCThere used to be green ones in Nottingham where I live but since 2019, they have started to decrease! Now the Nottingham taxis are black & white
My taxi driver who drove me to school had one of these taxis. He has since passed on sadly and his cab went to the ending place, this broke my heart as I loved the sound of her engine and how temperamental she could be in the cold. Miss my taxi driver very much as well as he was a really bubbly and lovely person
I love the sound of the LTITX one. I can tell straight away if it’s one of those little beauties being fired up as the Nissan TD 27 engine has a very unique sounding starter motor, love it.
this has been a very delightful and helpful video i'm currently a 3D model builder designing cars, trucks and buses for games and the 3D model market and have been handed this project to build one of these the interior shots have helped massively, it is a lovely example too.
@jakeyb2003 I have one, here in County Wicklow, Ireland. She is on a Ford Granada chassis from 1976, Ford Transit 2.5D engine and running gear, and still has the Ford grille. Very strange. She's an on-road running work in progress, and I'm still trying to piece together the puzzle that is her odd history. She shouldn't, ostensibly, exist.... but here she is! I'm glad I found you and your Fred.
That's really interesting. She must be an old prototype. I believe they were playing around with the idea of the Metrocab for about 10 or 12 years before they went into production.
What a great story for what is now a v.rare taxi.

Fantastic! I love ❤️ old cabs like this! Keep it up! Fantastic well done

@@LadyMoonstar6601 Such a shame. It's so nice to have lovely memories like that though.

Mines a series 2 auto converted to a pick up.
there used to be lots of these when i first moved to corby in the early 2000s
@@etrazombanya-2821 Yes they were everywhere at one point. Makes me feel old when I see how many are left now.
@@JakeSCOC i went to a museum in aldbridge and didnt expect to see a metrocab there
they should put an early one of these in the London Transport Museum
Yes it would be nice. They have a later one in The Depot.
