    My first car was a brand new 1975 Pinto. I still remember the day I picked it up. They'd washed it ( from being outside ) then moved it into the showroom, and my name was written on the bottom of the big SOLD sign, in the windshield ! I've NEVER forgotten that great feeling !!! :) I LOVE the old Pintos !

    When I was young, nobody wanted to be caught dead in a Pinto. Now that gas is $5 a gallon, those fuel saving cars are lookin' real good. Especially the older ones that are easier to work on.

    I like these Ford Pintos. I live in New Zealand. We didn't have these models on our roads. I like the car design. They were sporty looking. I liked the 1970s AMC Pacer too. These cars were one of the first cars to have a hatchback. Good to see you giving it some attention. They must be rare to see on the road in the USA now. Its 50 years old. I was 12 years young when it rolled off the assembly line. I'm 62 now. Thanks for your posting. From Carl. PS You are a good singer.

    A good locksmith can make a key from the door lock cylinder, which will also work the ignition switch. The trunk lock cylinder is likely to be different, so you'll have to remove it from under the hatch.

    I used to drive a '72 Pinto Runabout. Mine had the 2300 engine. Just a fun car to drive. It wasn't a hot rod by any means but it did what it was built for and did it well. I did have the safety upgrade on it.

    One of the things I enjoy most about your channel is that you don’t edit out the mistakes or bonehead moments you have (that we all have when wrenching on our cars) like the big RUclipsrs do. It speaks volumes of your character and how relatable you are to us everyday run of the mill shade tree mechanics that watch your channel.

    I was going to train dogs with a friend of mine whose address is McDonough, GA. I exited I-20 East onto Almon Road and followed my mapping software to the south and west. At one point, as I approached an intersection, I happened to look over my right shoulder (because something looked familiar), and there it was; Rev and Niki T's house, where you drove Puddin around the yard and squalled tires in the driveway!! I couldn't believe it, but since I've watched your channel so much I would know it anywhere. One day when I'm coming through down there at a reasonable hour of the day, I'm going to stop to shake your hand and explain how much your videos mean to me. Thank you.

    FYI - just for your info, I know you love Fords. In 1979 the1929 Ford Model A was 50 years old. A man named Harry Shay got permission from Ford to re-create the 1929 design and manufactured 10,000 cars. Most of them were bought by Ford dealers to be displayed in their showroms. But here's the reason for the post. They looked like the '29 and had what - PINTO ENGINE AND PINTO RUNNING GEAR. I thought y'all would get a kick out of that. The 1979 Shay Models are still around, all over the US. I've seen them advertised on Craigslist and even Marketplace. I Enjoy your videos !

    Hey Rev! Usually you don't need to pull steering wheel to replace ignition cylinder- I have done many over the years. I just take a big lag screw and crank it into key hole with a socket and put my slide puller on it and snatch it right out it shears the little pin and new lock slides right in and when you turn key it locks pin into hole!

    • @RevStoration
      @RevStoration  2 года назад +2

      This one has a pin that had to be depressed to get the cylinder out. It had to be turned in the run.position and I thought ACC.. My fault.

  • @Brock_Landers
    @Brock_Landers 2 года назад +3

    Rev, I think that old Pinto should get a nice cheap red Maaco paint job, a cool set of the slotted mag wheels, and I'd yank that crap underpowered 4 cylinder and swap in a 302W with a five speed manual trans and a 3.73 rear end with posi. If I had to own a Pinto, that'd be my vision of it. Either the V8 or a 2.7 or 3.5L EcoBoost twin turbo V6, because I like boost (but that's ALOT of wiring for an old Pinto that you probably paid $500 for or got for free). I like to dream though.

  • @eddiepatterson5025
    @eddiepatterson5025 2 года назад +1

    On the Master cylinder on most fords are interchangeable. Try to order one for a 73 mustang or 77 T-Bird or 74-75 mustang 2.
    I’m sure all 70’s fords used the same master cylinder if I’m not mistaken.
    On the OHC four cylinders I would recommend using shell rotella 15w40 oil it has the right additives to help the older engines live better and a WIX filter for better engine protection .
    I enjoyed both pinto projects and those 2.3 Litre 4’s are hard to beat.
    Thank you for sharing your time with us and May Y’all have a Blessed One Sir.
