  • What a gem! This film is a must-have for fans of the Mk1 Escort, Lancia Stratos and SAAB 96s, all of which can be seen in fast and furious rally action in their heyday. The 1974 RAC rally entry list was loaded with top drivers including Stig Blomqvist, Timo Makinen, Walter Rohrl and Roger Clark and a reported 2 million spectators attended the event and car manufacturers from 18 nations were entered.
The superb coverage is scripted and introduced by Stuart Turner, who gives his own unique insight into why rallying is so popular and in this clip, tells us about Roger Clark's acquired taste for dog biscuits!

Such a variety of cars and all having the wheels driven off them. Would love to see this kind of variety on the Roger Albert Clark Rally

Your really touch my soul! 👍❤💛
It is important to believe that rallying still has the possibility to get back to its former style and pleasure. I think this mostly depends on the real passion and thoughts which every person who likes rallies can bring in. And how well we will succeed in combining our knowledge and ideas as best as possible.
As for me, I have given much attention to rallying since almost fourty years, because I always loved vehicles and I found out that rallying is the sort of motorsports which is mostly enjoyed by me. This is based on several reasons. After this long time I think that I have got enough experience that I can quite exactly estimate about what is good for this sport, and what should be avoided, because it is likely to let the identity of the sport go to the waste.
There should be still some profound opportunities to re-establish rallying with much more of the former spirit. Some events like the mentionned Roger Albert Clark Rally are turning in a very interesting direction. Maybe it is possible to set signals that rallies, especially these ones with great reputation, once more should be longer and more spectacular (many tricky corners, often on gravel, but also mixed with tarmac...and with jumps, where possible). And also there should be found a solution to get more car brands or constructors for participation.
Maybe you would like to tell me a little more about your points of view regarding rallying. It is always enjoyable to me to communicate which other persons with a deeply emotional connection to rally sports.
      Many greetings.

When they eventually build a time machine, I know what will be my first port of call.
