Love Raitei. Mayus vocals, Tamus drumming, and Hazuki and Sakis solos are awesome. Dissension, Mayu has screams and mixes clean with it. Fighter a great hard rock song. But this is Mayus clean voice. These women all gravitate too hard rock, metal listening when they learn and craft their instruments. So you get a lot of influences from bands in their music. I love Japanese bands as they rock, headbang, but tend to have upbeat choruses, and they smile, enjoy playing together and performing. Raitei is thunder, so thunderous.
You never quite know what your going to get with Nemophila they can do it all from super heavy Dissension to pop rock /metal to punk to Anime style but you can be certain of one thing Mayu can sing clean to scream and Hazuki ,Saki .Hara and Tamu will melt you face off there all hyper talented .No gimmicks just talent .
Others have commented, but be sure to listen to "Dissension" as well. We have only released 3 songs of ourselves, but "Dissension" is next to "Oiran" and "RAITEI". I think this is also shocking

Some of their cover songs they do in a small studio are super cool to watch, especially their cover of Iron Maidens "The Trooper" Check it out, you wont be sorry. These girls seem to love what they do and they are good at it!!

The high voice is part of the childlike-cuteness "kawaii" ideal for Japanese women, TRADITIONALLY. So you are more likely to encounter it in "J-pop" which Nemophila is NOT. There are actually many Japanese rock bands in Japan, all over the spectrum from Pop-Rock to metal. As another comment pointed out, women playing harder rock and metal became a "thing" that grew more and more popular in Japan from the early 1980s when "Show-Ya" burst on the scene. They, and especially lead singer Keiko, were anything but kawaii. Brash, loud, and ass-kickin' talented, they changed the public perception of what women could do. And they are still around encouraging girls and women to rock. Today, there are hundreds of really good talented all female bands in Japan chasing their dreams (there are even anime cartoon series on TV about schoolgirls doing this, and real bands that have grown out of it - check the BangDream franchise), and dozens that are seriously great. Girls who have talent and desire to rock are at least as likely in Japan to get parental encouragement, instruments and training as are boys with such ambitions, and both much more likely than in the US. Nemophila were already-professional musicians who came together to form a supergroup in 2019. Some still play in other bands too. But their chemistry here is great and the demand is high for albums (release later this month) and concerts (still in holding pattern like everyone else I think?). Mayu does great clean vocals, but also great screaming/growling, gritty vocal "fry" etc. They understand hooks and groove. That does not make them a mere pop band, even though they may play with it for fun. There is no other band like them. Their genre is Nemophila. As in, any damn thing we wanna play but it's gonna kick ass.
