Bought the game last week for £1.60 and loving it so far, on mission 45 so I’ve almost completed the main story. Dabbled a bit in fobs and so far so good, all victories. This just blows my mind though, good job 👍🏼.
I had to google it but it looks like you got a copy for a really good deal, and here I thought I had a really good deal when I got it for $8. Definitely worth it for the gameplay hours you can get out of MGSV Cheers 👍
I bought this year's ago and with the announcement of delta I decided to finally get started. I just passed mission 23 I think. I've played every MG game all the way back to NES and this iteration did not disappoint at all. I doubt I'll get into mgo or the fob like I did with the very first MGO back on subsistence.
i just bought the game a few weeks ago, been a long time fan of the series and with the announcement of snake eater remake, i had to get back into it. videos like this are amazing because i am soooo new, seeing stuff like this is always awesome. I didnt even know people were still doing FOB runs
Hi and welcome aboard! I am also looking forward to the remake, but I want to maintain healthy expectations for the remake because I loved MGS3 so much but Kojima is not in the picture this time. We shall see what happens. I’ve already had the hype-train hangover/disappointment from other major releases from other franchises lol but that is another topic. Happy sneaking!
I set my defense to non-lethal close range and have upgraded to rank 9 (even though the chance of getting invaded these days is slim). Any thoughts on this setup as opposed to lethal? Clearly you manage to land tranq shots even on battle dress.
Hi there, in non-lethal FOB staff the objective is to incapacitate the intruder and then fulton them. IMO many things can happen or go wrong in that short time window between intruder being knocked unconscious and a non-lethal staff walking up to their body (they usually walk pretty slow too unless they are high grade troops). Intruder can wake up and kill more troops Intruder can climb to a vantage point where troops cannot reach him and therefore cannot fulton Etc. I run lethal because I don’t have time to defend every single day lol cheers
@@Caedarva I've read many places that stun damage bypasses the attacker's armor, but unsure how true that is. I figured close range naturally rush the attacker so have the best chance to fulton. All my guys are S++.
@@chevalierdunord3732 Short answer: yes, stun damage will bypass the enemy’s armor. From what I know, lethal damage and NL damage each affect different “health bars” if you will. In earlier MGS games you had a Health bar and a Stamina bar, each affected by lethal damage and NL respectively. MGSV uses visual cues instead of the HUD to tell you what damage you are taking. Short range staff is pretty good at rushing, and so is mid-range because the guys with the machine guns are typically the ones that rush intruders when you have mid range troops. I’ve failed many an infiltration from being spotted and rushed by the guys with 100-round belts lol. There are many ways to defend your base, so there is hardly a “wrong way” to defend. I run long-range because it is easier for troops to spot intruders from much farther away. This is because they use the scopes on the rifles that they have equipped at all times, while mid- and short-ranged troops will only use binoculars to spot you when they are under sniper fire. Happy sneaking 👍
@@CaedarvaThanks for the replies! I'm not great at infiltrating so figured I should ask an "insider" haha. Your vids are proof that any base can be ghosted regardless of setup, but I figure at least gas is no longer an option on mine. It is definitely annoying to see the attacker keep getting up on the invasion report, but maybe on lethal they would've sent a dispatch mission to make my guns peashooters and not gone down at all. Then again maybe the higher DPS of lethal weapons is better against the energy shield. It's a lot to consider, and hard to know whether intruders are just using hacks. I'm likely overthinking it, but I reckon riot shield and gas mask is the best all-round defense, *provided* the intruder gets detected at all. Direct attack is limited to grenades, a clutch headshot or perhaps dark matter ball XD Thanks again, keep it up!
@@chevalierdunord3732 I would also consider your custom camera and claymore placement. Claymores may not kill most intruders outright by themselves, but the explosion of the claymore will put the base on soft alert (not combat alert), which will cause troops to be more vigilant and expand their patrol paths. I don’t know how far along you are in the game, but eventually S ranked volunteers become so common that I just started using all S rank troops to form my security staff lol. S and S++ are IMO not so far apart in performance so I felt comfortable with this change. Besides, I realized that many intruders would just come to my FOB to Fulton my platform troops and enter the core. Removing the S++ troops gave them less incentive to pick my FOB. Now the only people that invade me are the Ghosters who just go to the core, and the occasional speed runners who also just get to the core ASAP. They rarely take staff or resources. It is my pleasure passing on this knowledge to other players as it helps this game’s longevity. Cheers!
Is It even worth for you to infiltrate FOB's with the amount of resources your gear consumes? Also I have to say I love to infiltrate lv99 fob, they don't have anything custom bcs they are hackers that leaved the game time ago and the reward comes to 50k fuel resources. One day I have the luck to have a fob lv99 appear on the security trial and infiltrated up to 5 times. Not seen any fob like this anymore :(
Hi, so it’s still worth it to infiltrate FOBs if you want to expand the current FOBs that you own or plan to own. It costs a lot more resources to expand the base than to sneak inside one, so I would say keep an eye out for those double-resource events and those lv99 ghost towns. Good luck! 👍
Hi there, welcome to the club! My first advice would be to learn to navigate around the drones and cameras without destroying them. Destroying equipment (drone, camera, antitheft sensor, etc) will send out a defender alert. Shooting claymores will also send out an alert, but walking through them will not. You will know if a defender alert goes out when you see the “four squares” icon on the top right show up briefly. Bases with Espionage rank higher than around 2000 or 3000 are usually inactive and therefore unlikely to have defenders answer any alarms. Some signs of a deserted FOB: E rank guards, little to no resources boxes on the platforms, no custom cameras or custom claymores, etc. You will get the hang of it. You will get spotted a lot at first, but learn from your mistakes and reflect on how you got spotted, then you will be ghosting in no time. Good luck and happy sneaking my friend 👍
@@Caedarva Thank you! doing good so far. I can usually infiltrate level 30 or so fobs just fine until about platform 3 or 4. Then I get spotted and am forced to wait out the alert status.
hope to see you try and infiltrate my fob. haven't played long but did finish the main story and got a solid security team. Haven't been invaded once so far so would be lovely to even get my ass handed to me and my crew haha
Do you need an Xbox Live subscription to access FOB missions? I just started FOB missions yesterday and I'm not sure if I'm infiltrating real players or an AI
Hi, the only AI bases that I know of will be the ones from FOB events, listed under their own list of mission on the FOB tab. I don’t know if you need XBOX Live or not, I haven’t had a console in quite a while I’m afraid.
I currently have an espionage rating of 5 triangles, and 60 successful invasions Before, I wasn't at all familiar with FOB missions. I don't know why but I had a lot of problems with the high ranking ones. What advice can you give me?
My advice against sniper bases (most FOBs choose sniper guards) is to neutralize the guys with the best vantage points first. Basically anyone who is perched high up on a tall structure, especially if they have a line of sight on the bridge. There are exceptions as with all advice, but this is generally how you can cross tricky bridges.
@@Caedarva It's true, and in fact it works most of the time (during the trainings of course). But could I use the lethal suppressor rifles, or just the ZZZ ones? The best thing is when I try to create diversions to get past, but cameras and UAVs They're on my balls. The first thing I do is shoot both. Shooting cameras or drones will alert the defender, right? P.s: I prefer invading R&D, Base development and support platforms. They're very easy for me.
@@GREATBOYITA Shooting cameras and drones will indeed alert defenders that the FOB is under attack. I generally avoid the cameras and UAVs; their patrol patterns are somewhat predictable so you can maneuver around them if you’re patient. Hope this helped! Cheers

Nice. Mgsv has the best gameplay of all MG titles in my opinion. The story isn't top 3 but it's not bad.
Me too. I was fearing that the FOB was my mother base. Thankfully it wasn't
Took a long break but I started getting back into the groove a few months ago😁
Great content. Glad to see another fob player still going :)
