If its going to be sitting about a lot keep the 185 less electrics to go wrong when there not getting used . Now my head and heart also says 185 a usable classic. Stay safe 🏴
3230 smoothshift is the answer and if you want comfort go for 3230 p-tronic cummins great tractors once gearbox has been looked after and built for the road
Is Ireland on the white diesel thing, where only farm vehicles for agricultural use is allowed on red? If so how will it effect you at Grassmen I wonder.
No definitive decision made yet. We are looking into legalities etc of running one on a commercial basis etc! Just been trying to find out a lot of info. If that's the route we decide to go then we will upgrade to the 3185 as I'm told its a lot more reliable and there wont be the same risk of hitching it off and using agri spec 4220 etc and getting into trouble! Rather than telling everyone what we have done this time we are trying to explain the journey!
Hi buddy cracking video as always. I’m just wondering do you know of anyone that does scratch built model tractors. Unfortunately I don’t bother with Facebook or instagram
Years since I was at it, Perfect 32 modify existing chasis with brass. Goldplough farm models used to do lovely detailed JD’s in brass. Murdochs models used to do full scratch builds for all sorts Dominic Marshall Darrel Monaith Breamer models
Whatever you do don’t buy a power shift one, we went from a Cummins 3170 with the Eaton manual gearbox to a power shift 3230 and it was a big downgrade, i would recommend a manual Cummins 3000 series
I won't really matter as once the new rules kick in and are enforced properly the market will be flodded with people trying to get rid because they can't get the full potential out of them without running legal.
Still to what ya know old school are more cool 😎 if ya can get a set of spanners to fix it then it's worth buying if you go down the route of a modern machine your guaranteed electrical faults along the way which will most likely to cost you but everyone has different opinions on machinery
I think if your looking for somthing for road work with a lowloader and somthing that’s good on diesel you’d have to go for a unimog only thing for the job
I like those Jcb tractors they are cool looking. I would jeep what I had and the money in the bank. I see a few JCB over here in america but few and far between. I have ran there backhoes and I will stay with my cat 430. John deere backhoes are ok but that seat in that cat just wraps itself around you and loves you..😂😂🤣 the jcb backhoes just do not have that ump and they breakdown alot. Its strange how people view machines and tractors and equipment around the world. Everybody lives that pretty green in there bank accts also. Make sure you dont have new yellow paint fever first. If I could have that one machine it would be that cat 953 20z series. I put 15,000 hrs on that old girl and ride by occasionally to see her at the tree guys place that bought it. Sometimes newer bigger and shinier isnt good.
@@Grassmen There are a lot of plates spinning in the air at the moment re the economy, inflation, fuel prices, Russia etc. if one or two of those plates falls dark clouds on the economy could gather very quickly. Very hard to predict what’s going to happen
Lot of ££ to gain one extra splitter gear and a lighter clutch pedal both run the same eaton 6 speed box you just re built your 185 transmission 3185 wont drive no better the 185 adding the nice shiny paint to a 3185 you wont know what is hiding inside the axels and transmission better the devil you know as they say

The 185-65 would be my choice too
Audio perfect! Great video Gareth 👌
With the old fastracs some start by pressing down the cluch and reaching down the panel to the right level to the seat and it’s just a Lucas key
JH Milnes has a lovely collection of JCB Fastrac’s and I love JCB Fastrac’s.
3230 smoothshift is the answer and if you want comfort go for 3230 p-tronic cummins great tractors once gearbox has been looked after and built for the road
Got to love a fastrac
keep her light 👍👍👍
Fastracs and easy fuel consumption don’t really go hand in hand.
In all seriousness 3185 Smoothshift up is where it’s at 👌🏻
The 185-65 has more character in my opinion.
they minced gearboxes though but yes they have the character
Is Ireland on the white diesel thing, where only farm vehicles for agricultural use is allowed on red? If so how will it effect you at Grassmen I wonder.
The republic isn’t-yet but where the Grassmen are is Northern Ireland which is the same as yous in the uk..
I’d say the Irish government will copy and paste the same as what is happening in the north of Ireland with the diesel
They’re trying hard alright. Got told I needed a tacho and white diesel in the tractor by the RSA Garda locally years ago😆
@@VelEire_ aye just goes to show you! We could all be looking at one diesel fuel soon.
Garth you left us on a cliffhanger there boy! What is a New Holland doing there???? 😝

Keep the 185 65 nothing beats the 6 cylinder Cummins

Get rid of the 185-65 for maybe a Ford 7810 💪
You won’t go wrong with a 3185 pull well good drivers tractor. Drive a few with big hours going well still. You’ll get a strong right arm

Is this the time to keep money in the bank either? The world economy and inflation does scare us a little! Really hard to know what's right and wrong!

Take the newer one it be a bit nicer and comfortable
Our fear was that the older 185 would get left in the corner! The thinking was the 3185 would be enjoyed more to drive.
185 65
Personally, I don't care what you buy.
