This entire album is essentially a battle with Em's self-conscious. Having to deal with people saying they want Slim back and him making all of Slim's lines so disjointed and containing awful shit then flipping back to Em where it's clear there's been growth as both a person and rapper. He really painted a picture that being Slim was NOT a healthy lifestyle for him or his family. He's in a much better place now and it's easy to tell that growing into Eminem saved him. It's no coincidence that the 1st half of the album sounds so much like the late 90s/early 2000s and then begins to flip into a more modern version.
