A bayonet is a secondary weapon, attached the primary weapon. Anderson IS the weapon, the real weapon, hence why wields bayonets. It's a good choice of aesthetic and symbolism for his character. Pity we never saw his real character beyond him as a weapon, would've made his death hit a bit harder if we saw more of the "human" to the weapon.
This reminds me of when I was still in high-school. I watched this series while I was in school on my laptop lol I honestly don't know how I didn't get in trouble.

Alucard was a A warrior who lost to Muslims in war and turned himself away from God and then drank the blood of his own men before being beheaded and then became Dracula. He got stronger and stronger in his life until he became invincible!

It is believed by fans that it had to do with just one experience in which Walter was previously involved with alucard. alucard himself said in the mangas that he takes the form for pure fun. He likes the shape, there doesn't have to be a story. maybe a girl alucard fell in love with.
