For me, musically this may be the best German ESC song in the 21th century, if not of all time. I have heard almost all German entries since the 90s, and while Lena and Max are also great performers, this song wins for me.

Die Wertungen haben überhaupt keinen politischen Hintergrund. Die kulturellen Geschmäcker differieren halt leicht. Ist halt ein Wettbewerb. Auch gute Songs unterliegen anderen guten Darbietungen. So ist das nun mal.

Will never forget, when I met Elaiza in Copenhagen. They seemed so happy, so full of positive energy, it was contagious! On top of that, they were super funny, charming and sweet! You could see how grateful they are and how much respect they had for the ESC, for the fans and for this opportunity, that the audience offered them! I still love these girls!
Being a "BIG 5" country must be very comfortable, as you don't have to worry about semi-finals like we have to. However, I think that it also has a negative side. The audience meet only once with your song, while non-BIG 5 countries has two chances to get fans for their songs. BIG 5 countries often get poor results in the final, except Lena in 2010. Maybe you should think about participating in semi-finals too, like other countries.
yes, if a Big 5 country thinks their song has a potential to win (and/or qualify in the semis)...then they should opt to join the semis,... but if they think their song has no potential, they should stick to the finals instead since it'll be embarrassing for a Big 5 country to miss the finals...

The problem is that, with the exception of Lena Meyer-Landrut, all of our songs were just bad. Totally stupid texts and melodies, just no identity at all. That's the thing Lena had different. She was recognized by her bad English accent, for being cheeky somehow and just for being herself. This Conchita dude this year had a bad song but an (maybe strange) identity too. That's what makes the difference.

No, because there were songs that didn't make the final and deserved to win or be in the top 5 like San Marino in 2013 or Bulgaria (Poli Genova Na Inat), or Mei Feingold from Israel. And there was also a German song that got 0 points in the final despite being this level more or less (Black Smoke).
Germany deserved more!! But I think that the most important thing in this competition is that European society met lots of talented people and we'll continue to listen them in spite of they didn't win. Greetings from Georgia
I was eleven when I voted for them and they became my favorite band for many years and If they release a new album I would be one of the firsts to buy it. I met them live and talked to them in 2016 when the accordeon player had left the band and was replaced by another - who is really cute besides they are all very nice and cute. This band means a lot for me! However, I think that's not the best Performance of the song, sadly. I am form Poland and this fits in really traditional style with the accordion and things. When i brought up with music like this. People who say this is bad obviously are all modern age kids who aren’t from countries like Poland or Germany where this style fits in with the culture a lot. This lady is talented and lets be Honest she isn’t Amazing but I love it 🥰

Today, Germans celebrate a 12th place at ESC as if they made it to the Top3....but back then, when this song made if to 14th place, they treated it to be a disgraceful bomb. To me, Elaiza, are one of the most charming, most talented and most underrated german ESC artists of the last 25 years! (And I am writing this in 2024! )

But there were songs, uh...for example this Miracle thing of Romania and they are on Rank 12, come on, this was crap in comparison to Elaiza (only as an example). And accordeon . It's not so usually in Eurovision that they have accordeon. Four time : Finland 2010, Portugal 2009, Moldova 2022 and this Germany.
