    Me as a veteran:
The story of Fritz Vincken and the American and German Soldiers able to share a Christmas dinner nearly had me in tears literally.

The story of the German and American soldiers celebrating Christmas brings a tear of joy to my eye. I can only imagine the magic that was in air and how two different cultures came together as one for a joyous occasion. The situation reminds me of the stories my dad use to tell me about his time in the army when he was stationed in Germany.

Eldridge Ward, viewer who worked at a retirement home recognized Fritz's story as a one told by a seventy resident named Ralph Blank. In 1944, Ralph had been a sergeant serving with the U.S. Army in Belgium. Ralph and Fritz soon spoke on the phone, where Ralph vividly recalled the night in the Ardennes that he had spent with Fritz, Elisabeth, and the other soldiers. On January 19, 1996, Fritz and Ralph were reunited at Ralph's retirement home in Maryland. The reunion occurred just one day after Ralph and his wife's fiftieth wedding anniversary. Ralph's daughter-in-law cooked them the same meal that Elisabeth Vincken made back in 1944: chicken soup.
Fritz was also reunited with another one of the American soldiers soon afterwards. Fritz Vincken eventually passed away on December 8, 2001 with Ralph Blank passing away on May 21, 1999.

Being a veteran myself, it's hard to have dry eyes after watching this story. It went to demonstrate that there was honorable men on both sides on the war.

"Has she still got my pistol?" Ah, the story of Fritz and the soldiers is one of my favorites! What a profound early experience for Fritz

"Fritz and the Soldiers" was originally narrated by Robert Stack. The background music has been changed as well. My channel has that original Robert Stack version sans the first few moments - it took me a minute to get a tape in the vcr. But I'm glad that I did.
EDIT: Not any more - courtesy of the copyright owner.

"Fritz and the Soldiers" became a Hallmark movie. Originally, I thought the Hallmark movie was based on the WWI Christmas truce that broke out across the front line. The best part is I remember the Unsolved Mysteries episode about this. But, I never put two and two together until now.

VERY beautiful war story. A profoundly moving episode in such a horrific slice of history. It's next to impossible to watch this dry-eyed...and to also not be affected by the broken barriers of enforced hate and political differences. This is a most inspiring memoir: a display of fraternity and compassion in an otherwise catastrophic happenstance.

The shots fired into the bike shop after the interview regarding Chad's death were later determined to not be connected to this case. Chad's parents divorced in 2007, but they are both still searching for a resolution to his case.

I really enjoy this version of the show, but can you please put the Robert Stack episodes on RUclips? His iconic voice, the iconic music. They are the original, the best.

Jaroflies, So very true. Up until a few days ago I had been unofficially hosting the much better presented Stack narrated version. The publishing company that owns the rights to it, saw fit to block it. I had re-titled it for more accessibility as "Christmas Eve 1944 - Peace With The Enemy. It seems to me that stories that are full of hope during a crisis are something all of us could probably use right now. But even though I was not being compensated for doing this, corporate entities saw fit to reduce potential viewership - as if I was somehow cutting into their profits. sigh

As much as I like Dennis Farina on Unsolved Mysteries, pretty much all of the episodes were covered the late awesome Robert Stack. If they were doing newer Unsolved Mystery episodes with Dennis that would have been awesome or update on ones that haven't been solved or revisit and bring them back to public attention. Either way, Dennis is an awesome host for this show. I just wished that it contained new mysteries that needed attention and bringing back some older ones or giving small updates on other cases.

In 2006, a biographer came up with a possible explanation for Agatha's disappearance. He believes that the trauma of her divorce caused her to enter a "fugue state". This is a psychological disorder that causes people to flee from a traumatic event or a serious problem. However, with everyone involved now deceased, it is impossible to say if this is truly what happened to Agatha.

After looking at the story of the mysterious death of Chad Maurer and I will tell you this, is that his death wasn't self inflicted, and it was not some misfortunate accident! His death was flat out Murder resulted from either a vicious beating at the hands of several individuals within the drug trade it's no physical evidences that shows any indications that his death was caused by suicide from the beginning of the investigation from the beginning to the end it was suspicious due to the fact as where he was found in the most violent and drug affected city in the world in the Southside part of Chicago this never looked like a suicide and thru extensive examination of the body of Chad Maurer which concluded that fact on top another fact that has been determined that changed the cause of his death from undetermined to most definitely a homicide, given that thru examination they found bruises on his body as he put up a courageous fight of his life due to a brutal attack, and as I reviewed his story for many decades now I have come to the conclusion that his death was drug related given the fact as I stated where he was found at plus we have to remember what decade Chad Maurer died in, and what year which was 1987, what makes his death even more suspicious then any more clues that makes it suspicious is that not only was he found dead in the most violent City in the united states, but his death occurred a year after the violent rise of the crack epidemic of the mid 80's take this in highly consideration and this to me indicate utterly was drug related most definitely and he was the driver for some low level Chicago drug dealer or drug dealers, either dealing in marijuana or crack cocaine and cocaine, and Chad either was denied money he was owed for driving the dealer to make his drug sells or the dealer or dealers was making to many drops as chad was already on a time schedule, he refused to give any further ride because the dealer refused to pay him and in the results for Chad refusing to be the further driver they therefore killed him simple as that, and the only thing about this case that will never change is that justice would never be served as for one passage of time to many years decades has passed as where the person or person's who killed him all may be dead by now considering their low life violent drug life styles just my opinion...
