Hey girlie. As a fellow believer myself definitely understand what you are going through and I’ve been where you are. My pastor has help me navigate through forgiving my dad and loving him where he is. I had to understand that without him I wouldn’t be here and although life was rough I can’t stay mad at him for past mistakes because I’ve messed up too. We all make mistakes and mess up and like the Bible says in Matthew 6: 14-15 if we don’t forgive others God will not forgive us of our sin. We have to love people where they are and pray for them. I hope this helps.

I would say consider his childhood and how his father showed up for him. It softens your heart. It’s definitely generational. I can relate

Hey Ashley! Forgiveness is something I still struggle with now. As a Christian I navigate it in my own way by praying to God and staying in my word because I used to worry about what others thought of me all the time. Once I focused on Christ, I forgave them for all the wrong doings they did to me and yes it did take a very long time but that will happen. I’m praying it gets easier for you 🙏🏽 and I really enjoyed the vlog!

Ashley this is so soo so so soooo timely. I was literally speaking to God about the issue of forgiveness this morning regarding parents. This is an issue that definitely requires going back to the Word for healing. I would love to see a video about forgiveness from you🥰

Just continue to pray for him. The decision to release himself from the resentment he is holding onto, is his. One day, he'll realize what he missed out on.

Hey Ashley! My name is Ashley too! Enjoying your vlogs and thank you for your honesty with Father’s Day. I struggle with this holiday as well do to not having a good relationship with my own father. I actually stay away from social media on Father’s Day and to be honest I didn’t go to church Sunday because it was just father overload and overwhelming for me. But forgiveness is not a feeling, it’s a decision about how you will treat someone to honor God, which is hard but doable when we lean on God. Now, for myself, my father kept hurting me and abandoning me so after the last time, I decided for myself, he just can’t come back into my life because at this point I know I will continue to be hurt. But to combat that hurt and do things Gods way, I make myself pray for him to combat the anger. When you pray for someone, the Holy Spirit takes away the sting you feel for them. I don’t talk bad about him and I try to remember that God is my true Father as you also stated. It’s hard but God wouldn’t tell us to forgive if we couldn’t, so knowing that gives strength and hope. I pray for restoration for you and your dad and if there isn’t, I pray for peace and total forgiveness in your heart and that your dad will forgive himself for not being there. Thank you again for being so honest. God bless you ❤️🙏🏾 oh sorry so long 🤦🏾‍♀️

I can completely relate to everything you said regarding your relationship with your father. The Bible tells us that the Lord will turn the hearts of the father to the children and the children to the fathers.(Malachi 4:6) One that lets me know that it is a work of the Lord for restoring those relationships. Two it is the parents job to seek that reconciliation, and three it is our job as children to come with a heart of repentance from how they have hurt us. Praying for you! My pastor actually preached a great sermon on this on Father’s Day you can watch on the Nashville Life Church RUclips. Love you girl! Enjoyed this vlog!

Wishing you nothing but strength on your forgiving journey, i believe when you want to forgive you simply accept. Accept that they won’t change, and accept that this is them. You just accept that version of them and it makes it easier lowkey, because from there you can navigate how to keep them in ur life without them hurting you. I hope you understand what I mean! God bless

As a Christian, i've learned that I had to first find peace within myself, in order to forgive. During my journey in my early 20's a family member made my day to day very difficult. Now I look back on it all, that was Christ moulding me for the best days ahead. I made the bold step to forgive that family member face to face and was rejected. Sometimes you have to love and pray for people from a distance. Christ will certainly transform situations. Don't force anything, continue to trust In Christ and allow him to guide you.

    Hi Ashley! 🩷🩷
In terms of “submitting” to our parents, the Bible says to HONOR them.
And that CHILDREN should obey their parents. In the AMP version, it elaborates why we should obey as children (Ephesians 6:1-4). But God knows that we also become older and form our own opinions and sense of self one day. He created us this way. There are distinctions in the Bible between children and adults as well, so we can conclude that when the bible says “children obey”, it is referring to age.
The only person we submit to as an adult is Jesus, firstly ofc, your spouse, and then we are submitted under authorities (but thats another topic lolz). Honoring your parents though means to just have respect for them simply as human beings, and to not do things like slander them, be unkind, etc. Just as we are commanded to love our neighbor (in the way God defines love in 1 Corin. 13). Obviously, we all make mistakes, and life can be so challenging, but the Lord loved us and has given us the fruit of His spirit to be able to be kind and resect our parents even if they are unworthy. 💕

“Children, obey your parents in the Lord [that is, accept their guidance and discipline as His representatives], for this is right [for obedience teaches wisdom and self-discipline]. Honor [esteem, value as precious] your father and your mother [and be respectful to them]-this is the first commandment with a promise- so that it may be well with you, and that you may have a long life on the earth.
Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger [do not exasperate them to the point of resentment with demands that are trivial or unreasonable or humiliating or abusive; nor by showing favoritism or indifference to any of them], but bring them up [tenderly, with lovingkindness] in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.”
      ‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭6‬:‭1‬-‭4‬ ‭AMP‬‬
