One of his hommies confirmed this with him. And the deal was a partnership with Mass appeal, he was not fully signed to Def Jam.

What I love about karma though that makes this album dope is that he has a song for different parts of the country.. Karma 3 got Cali vibes, down south vibes, of course New York.
