There are lots of phrases introduced in the video which make Japanese emails professional!! I often use Saiwai(appreciated) in my mail. Thank you Taka san!

I love how you said "this puts pressure on them to reply", because that is exactly why I write like that in emails, to manipulate the person to reply to me, no time or energy for formalities, do as I say or else

Thank you so much. I am an author who is published in the US but am going to start queries to literary agents in Japan, with hopes of getting published through a publishing house in Japan (this is a common step for US indie authors). And though the agencies I am going to write specialize in foreign authors, I wanted to make sure I write in a respectful way, given the cultural difference.
I am naturally and very indirect person, and don't like pressure placed in me or placed on others, so I think this suits me well. LOL

Question: can you use Keigo for very polite social situations or is it nuanced for business only. In English, there is a corporate lingo (e.g., let’s put a pin on this and circle back, etc.) which is separate from literary-style speech, whereas in France, you can use fancy speech to show off your education even in business situations. What is the effect of speaking Keigo in none business spheres (as a customer, with strangers, a social event)?

Yes, you can use Keigo for polite situations.
But we have various kinds of keigo, we have to choose it depending on the situations.
