- This is the history of G.I. Joe A Real American hero in its original vintage year - 1982. These action figures took the industry of old toys by storm in its heyday.
Witness the original 13 from Snake Eyes to Scarlett to (not yet a General) Hawk. Also Cobra Commander and Cobra Troopers and Officers to army build to your heart's desire. The Vamp jeep, RAM cycle, JUMP and others are all here.

Every great toyline has to have a beginning. 1982 was the beginning of G.I.Joe and it is still awesome to this day.
To think this is where it all began but had this been the beginning and end of GI Joe I'm sure they would still be remembered fondly today. While I'm sure the worldwide success of the Real American Heroes was a surprise to Hasbro I can tell you without a shadow of a doubt that they were just as huge here in Australia, which is why they will always be International heroes to me. thx buddy and come to think of it - I never stopped to think what would have happened if GI Joe had only been a single year... imo you're right - they'd still be remembered fondly like many single year lines. Yo Joe, Full Force - and yeah it was a pleasure working with Chad on this. He added a couple bits of info I had originally left out.

I started in 82 with....the Cobra Officer. The silver Cobra symbol was the main draw for me....which of course rubbed off within a few days of play. Other figures followed. My Father was in the Marines, so he was very supportive of my G.I.Joe collection and often bought me figures or small vehicles, like the RAM cycle or the MMS. Once I met my Step-Brother, we combined our collections. Sometime around 1987 or 1988, my Step-Brother gave up much of his collection to me as he was no longer interested. In 1989...it would see the end of my G.I.Joes....and all my toys as one fateful school day, unbeknownst to me, my Step-Father opted to throw all available figures/toys to the trash. He did this on trash-day to ensure I could not rescue them; he even made sure to tell me specifically that. Why he was not mysteriously strangled in his sleep, I will never know. I guess 14 yr old me just wasn't up to it. Decades later, I decided I wanted that collection back. The prices for vintage figures were too high, but Classified was reasonable enough. So I have invested into buying Classified to gain it all back. There are still about 30 figures more to go, after all the pipe-line reveals and recent pre-orders come through. Some of the figures, I suspect I will never get in Classified. Mostly vehicle drivers like Lift Ticket, Lampreys, Wild Weasel, and even the HISS driver (because I started collecting too late to back it.)
Man missed the premiere well relplay works and the og 82 were all mine except for scarlet never found her. My joe collection started with rock n roll and didn’t stop till 87 because girls and sports took over.
Sounds like a fun time to be young back then! Yeah i mostly consider the core years as 82-87 even if most of my own collecting was afterwards.

Great stuff! The 82' line was tops, though I prefer the 83' versions. The sets and vehicles was like nothing else. Joe's were the best line in the 80's and ever to me period. Thanks Ken and Chad!!😗👍

Nice! I would really like to see more about ACTION FORCE and it's individual figures looks like it would be a cool line to collect but I'm sure not easily done

Hasbro's G. I. Joe ARAH surpassed and outclassed Kenner's Star Wars when it introduced the Swivel-Arm Battle Grip feature in 1983. 1982 to 1984 were the best years of the line. I consider Hawk, Stalker, Scarlett, & Snake-Eyes as the series' core characters.
