Recently got an used Fuji X-T10 with a 18-55mm kit and this great little TTartisan 35mm. Now my full frame Canon with it's expensive L lenses sits in the closet. Fujifilm is such a joy to use. And the TTartisan 35mm f1.4 is a surprisingly good lens.
I bought mine a few years ago for EUR 200, including the 16-55mm lens that I didn't want. I then sold the lens for EUR 160 so I have this excellent camera (mint condition) for EUR 40! Now you'll be lucky if you find one for under EUR 300. I like using it with either the fuji 27mm/2.8 or my Samyang 8mm/2.8. It's a lot of fun and the results are great.
SOOC images are great from this camera, pretty Provia film sim. Very compact and lightweight, and I like to use the tilting screen. The lens I use is XF35mm f/1.4, AF is fine for me. By the way, unlike the X-Pro1 and X-E1, this one has a newer processor and also a Wi-Fi.
Just recently purchased one. One top of Wifi and EXR II processor, it also have face detect. Only downside is it didn't get the extra film simulations and haven't been updated since 2017. But I love the size and face detect makes it easier to ask someone to take pics of you.
I popped a Russian turret viewfinder on mine (The optics on those are as clear as new glass) to jazz it up, and to use on bright days. All you really need is the 16-50 3.5 V.2 lens to keep the package small, light, but flexible. That lens improves in speed on later bodies, has a center sharpness as good as anything you have, and if you shoot square format, it's now perfect. Save your other lenses, vintage, or Fuji prime for the IBIS bodies. But don't forget, the 16-50 has IBIS. Just be sure to get V.2. Manual instead? The focus assist color options aren't as good as later models. Everybody usually uses the Fuji red color focus assist. Not available. You can use the back function button and some menu #4 to get the image zoomed in to help your focus, but I haven't put a manual lens on mine to tell you exactly how.
@@yangho8 you’re lucky I haven’t been able to find one any cheaper than $300 US and most of them are in Japan or Thailand, or someplace like that. You have to wait weeks for them to arrive.
I think the Tamron is better optically, it has less distortion at the wide end and looks slighty sharper. It has an extra 5mm, faster AF and has weather sealing (which isn't mentioned ;-) However, the Sigma looks better is smaller and the zoom ring is in the right place. Tough choice.
I think the 16-50 is a fine match for this, and the X-M1's cute pocket camera macro setting. I have the setup but didn't know about the brightness option. I know it's in the menu of my T-2 body, where I can see everything with the lens wide open until I press the shutter button. Classic old school. I'm impressed that your manual lens also has this ability. Two things I learned. And yes, I imagine I can use all kinds of post Fuji color settings on It's raw pictures with Lightroom or Camera One software. Yeah, the 16 megs won't give you Ansel Adams prints, but tossing those and other low fi pocket Camera stills into Topaz and doing a screen grab on a big monitor (I'm still only using the demo version) can give you 30 megabyte photos. Once you learn how to take Topaz Photo AI.
With the new A.I. tools you can enhance 16 MP photos and print bigger. Off topic, I am currently testing the 15-45mm on the X-T5 and I cannot believe how sharp that lens is at 15mm.
🙏🙏🙏Pleeeeaaaase tell me how to install new film simulations…I haven’t found ONE video wich shows me how to do it on the xm1 pleaseeeeee…or is there even a way to do this??
There are just a few recipes for the X-M1. This is a good one: fujixweekly.com/2021/01/20/fujifilm-x-m1-x-trans-i-film-simulation-recipe-classic-analog/
It's a nice camera with a good sensor, but it's a bit annoying that you can't save different film simulation user settings. Using it with manual lenses does 'fix' the slower autofocus. It definitely is not worth the 300-400€ it's going for right now. I still got one recently for 200€ including a 16-50 lens, and a pretty scratched up body. I'm using it now with an FDn 50mm 1.4, but I'll be looking out for a wider manual focus prime, probably from TTartisan.
hope you still reply to this old video but right now i found this camera around 530 used. i know cameras can be expensive so my question is if its worth buying now? im just a beginner. thanks for the help!

I just got this camera and I love the size of it. I've tried a couple of recipes, but the output doesn't look so good like yours. I dug a little deeper and realized that the X-M1 has a unique oddity: it has a first generation X-Trans sensor, but a second generation image processor (EXR II processor). It seems like this camera compares to the X-Trans II with the JPGs. What's your experience? Did you have to tweak the recipes a little bit, or use the X-Trans II recipes? If so, can you share your settings for them? Thanks! 🙌😊
Hello, I don't have the camera anymore and I don't remember the exact settings. I used Velvia and played with the white balance settings, red and blue. I hope this helps.
I just got the M-1, and you're right, because the image processor is a second generation, any recipes you use should be used for the X-Trans II sensor--usually with a little tweaking here and there. They end up looking much better than any recipes for the X-Trans I.
Used this camera for about a month. The brightness of the LCD is more than enough for me. And if it "isn't", there is a temporary direct sunlight mode, where the screen just blow up the brightness by a lot, and everything will be overexposed, but we can tell what is in focus just fine with the help of peak focus outline.
Nice video! Interesting as always :) a good reminder for everyone out there that you don’t need a 50MP sensor to take good pictures. Just out of curiosity, where did you get yours? I’ve been looking for an X-M1 myself for some time but they’re hard to come across / way more expensive than what you mention. Any idea where I could start looking?
Thank you! I got mine from Wallapop, Spain. A good place to look for is MPB, if they dont have it in stock you should check weekly because this little camera is in high demand.
