I've managed to make this stable for auto deploy by adding a second DPS for the second phase, but actually farming it is still painful because of how long this stage takes...

why the hell does the skill takes out a chunk of hp that large

It doesn't work, this boss is impossible to auto, it work once and then never again, no Manganese Ore for me.

I managed to make it stable by adding a second DPS when the first phase is defeated. I personally used Virtuosa because I needed to trust farm her anyway but there are a lot of good options that can work.
