  • In July 1969, Neil Armstrong famously took “one small step for man, and one giant leap for mankind”, for the first ever Moon Landing. Apollo 11 gave us our first steps on the lunar surface, but just three years later, in 1972… we’d made our last. In this video, Unveiled uncovers why NASA stopped going to the moon, and whether there are any plans to one day return to our closest celestial neighbor...

Hence why eyes are all on SpaceX who are able to do a lot for far cheaper.

      Nonsense, how long has NASA been around? Since 1958. And SpaceX since when? Since 2002.
      So if SpaceX has influence and, according to you, has gotten cheaper, why can't NASA, which has been in these rounds for decades? It will be interesting to follow up on SpaceX's $2.9 billion contract with NASA to take astronauts from lunar orbit to the surface of the moon.
      It is irrelevant to this topic how much money the US military receives, because regardless of that the money NASA receives is still a lot and would certainly serve to carry out a mission.
      If this happened in the 60s and 70s, why wouldn't it happen now that the technology is more advanced, and access to products/ material related to this area and innovation is more common, cheaper and accessible nowadays.
      It's sad that you're mentally conditioned to believe in ridiculous excuses such as - "we lost the technology of more than 60 years ago and we can't get it back"; "the technology used at that time was destroyed"; "We don't have enough budget ". These arguments are ineffectual and manipulative.
      Btw, critical thinking has no nationality.

      @lilpain8883 2 года назад +10

      @@Heavenpress You seem to completely be void of any rationality, critical thinking or ability to do significant research that doesn't fall into your own made up fallacies.
      SpaceX's goal is to reduce launch costs. NASA's goal is to do whatever Congress wishes. SpaceX has been engineering reusable rockets that can launch and land back down beautifully, while NASA has spent over a decade and well into the billions of dollars building an expendable rocket that isn't reusable and isn't close to what we should be building in 2021.
      Let me remind you that the Saturn V in the 1960s cost $83 billion compared to the new SLS's roughly $20 billion. That's a big drop. But compared to SpaceX, the Starship SN8 prototype cost under $300 million to build, while when completed is projected to only be $2 million PER launch due to it's reusability. And it's more powerful than NASA's SLS and far more suited for the Moon Mission. Many project SLS to be NASA's last rocket as private companies like SpaceX will likely take over rocket manufacturing.
      Let me educate you on the ridiculous claims you're spewing. "We lost the technology to go back", do you know what this means? Or do you not know anything about technology? Tech, my friend, of any time, eventually is lost. The 1969 Moon Rocket known as Saturn V (especially focusing on the complex engines) was welded by hand. Countless hours of sleepless nights, days away from their families, handcrafting this marvel of aerospace engineering. The rocket was comprised of millions of part, as well as the launch module etc. So when you end an entire program like the Apollo, so does all the manufacturing along with it. All the parts used. The knowledge on welding it is lost with the death/aging of the engineers. Materials as tech enhances become obsolete. The vehicle isn't going to be identical to some blueprint drawings that you can whip out and copy. It isn't as simple as 1, 2, 3 but the common man doesn't understand that. And if you try to copy it with modern materials, then that changes it from the original greatly, now you have to take in different factors that have been altered, what new malfunctions could occur? You'd have to do new simulations, map out new plans, conduct new tests. You'd be essentially constructing an entirely new vehicle. And that's what NASA is already doing with the SLS. So why bother with the Saturn V in modern times? That would completely insane. This is what SpaceX is already doing with the Starship. A new vehicle. At least SpaceX is constructing a far more powerful and modern rocket for far cheaper and in far less time than NASA has.
      Please. Please. Please. Educate yourself before commenting, it is harmful to many to spread things that just aren't true. Take some time to learn about aerospace engineering and what's involved. Take sometime to understand the business around Government Agencies and Private companies. Learn. And grow.

      Who is they? NASA? NASA is a government agency. It has it's goals set by the government specifically the administrative branch. In 1972 Richard Nixon directed NASA to focus on developing reusable spacecraft, and they developed the Space Shuttle which was a big step sideways for the space program.
      When NASA stopped the Moon landings due to budget cuts, all the companies that built the hardware used to get to the Moon stopped making said hardware. That means that today the US does not have a rocket that could put men on the Moon even if we wanted to.
      There are photos of the Earth taken from lunar orbit. People claim they are fake, all CGI. This is just plain stupid. Why? Because there was no such thing as Computer Generated Graphics in 1969. To fake a photo in 1969 you could build a model and take a picture of the model, or take the photographic film and hand paint the image on the film. We went. We haven't gone back because the government decided to stop spending the money.

    • @miot22
      @miot22 3 года назад +11

      It’s not that they ran out of money. Public interest and political interest shifted and thus so did the funding. The consequence of that was for nasa to decide on what they should do next, ideally something that’s high yield but cheap. And that’s what they did. They settled on doing low earth orbit missions using what was supposed to be a cheap reusable vehicle (it wasn’t) in order to gain more experience doing things in microgravity/space etc.
      That was the space shuttle era and we did all kinds of things like build hubble, the iss, all kinds of data collection on the effects of long term stay in space, etc. Now that era has come to an end and nasa is looking for their next project. Going back to the moon and ultimately mars. Their budget is still small but we’ve made a lot of technological progress that’s made going to space way cheaper now. We’ve taken what we learned are using it productively.
      I know this is probably getting too long for the types of people that would benefit the most from reading this but just as likely someone may appreciate it.

      Your not wrong but not right, NASA does still have funding but not as much as before because of public interest in the moon. So therefore the government decided to shift a manor part of the funding to the army. If NASA had as much funding as the army does, it was speculated that we couldve already started a civilization on the moon.

Today, our DoD budget is ~80 of that total. Counting Apollo, the Shuttle, and the ISS, but not counting "black" military spending or ongoing military operational expenses, each of which are more.
      During the time-scale of Apollo, the US spent as much on cosmetics, and large States spent more on liquor.

      Hmm... Should Americans focus on straightening up our priorities at home first, or just pack up & run to another planet, ruin it first, & THEN change our priorities concerning space & our responsibilities at home? Let's consider that in just *5 minutes or less:*
      *NATIONAL WEALTH AS SPENT ON SPACE EXPLORATION*
      *1969-72* $10 billion per roundtrip to the moon, using Saturn V rockets x 4 missions = 40 billion
      *1972* 6 billion to land Mariner I on Mars
      *1973* 2 billion for Skylab mission
      *1975* 5 billion to put Landsat I into Earth orbit
      *1977* 8 billion to launch Voyager I into survey of Saturn, Jupiter, Uranus, & Neptune
      *1981-2003* 2 billion per roundtrip to launch & return Space Shuttle x 135 missions = 270 billion
      *1985* 50+ billion estimated cost to develop "Star Wars" anti-ICBM defense system
      *1998* 30+ billion to land Cassini on Mars
      *2009* (Or was it 2012?) for Elon Musk's "Spacex" to dock 1st orbiter onto International Space Station
      $423.5 billion/ 43 years = 9,848,837,209 average annual spending (for _ONLY_ these space programs. 423.5 billion is well below the actual figure for all NASA space programs from 1969-2003)
      *ONE BILLION WHEN SPENT ON COLLEGE EDUCATION*
      1.0 billion/ 3,000 cost per individual for 2 years of community college (books + tuition) = 33,333,333 potential college graduates
      1.0 billion/ 5 years = 200,000,000 per year = 6,666,666 potential college graduates per year
      *ONE BILLION WHEN SPENT TO FEED UNEMPLOYED & HOMELESS PERSONS*
      1.0 billion/ 6 cost to feed one famished person twice per day = 166,666,666 days of 2 meals per day
      166,666,666/ 365 days in one year = 45,662 people fed everyday, for an entire year *_OR_*
      166,666,666 days of 2 meals per day/ 5 years = 3,333,333 unemployed or homeless persons fed every year for 5 years
      ...Just some food for thought is all. If you can forgive the pun 😉

    Why do you think Apollo 13 just orbited the moon ? They claimed there was a problem with the craft and they couldn’t land it, but it’s strange to me they had no problem coming back to the earth without burning up in a craft leaking carbon dioxide into the cabin and and missing vital heat shields. If you notice everything was perfectly fine until time to land on the moon, then there was a huge problem, NASA somehow managed to do the impossible and build a oxygen producing machine out of a space suit and duct tape in 24 hours, then with many heat tiles missing, somehow they were able to make it through the earths atmosphere without burning up, and land perfectly never to be talked about again. Oh yeah and the computers were fried. The computers were fried by whatever was on the moon. They probably were engaged as a hostile attempt at a landing and that’s what all of a sudden caused the problems. Idk I’m not a conspiracy theorist but there’s so many things that do not add up at all about any of the NASA attempts and space exploration.

    I think a more important question is why is it taking so much to reinvent the tech that got us there. Tech never goes backwards in our current culture, except space tech. We could land on the moon in the 1960s but we arent sure we can do it now with millions of times more computing power and tech. Something doesnt add up at all.

      You don't have a clue as to what it took to develop the "tech" that did it in the 1960's.
      The Saturn V rocket had over 5.6 million individual parts.
      About 400,000 engineers, scientists, and technicians worked between 1961 and 1969 on the rocket and the spaceship that was to propel the three astronauts, Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, and Michael Collins toward the moon on July 16, 1969. The team of developers, recruited from 20,000 companies and universities, had a clear mandate-a maxim that ought to reassure the three men at the tip of the rocket somewhat in the worried seconds before the launch: The engineers were required to dare to reach the limits of what was technically possible at the time, but without exceeding them under any circumstances. Better safe and conservative than risky and overly complex. The result of their labors was an engineering marvel composed of 5.6 million individual parts. A gigantic vehicle the likes of which has never been achieved since.
      It begins with the five main engines with a thrust of nearly 3,500,000 kg. The three men in the command module barely notice the immense power initially as the engines howl at the end of the countdown. The 3,000-ton rocket gains momentum slowly. Its tip swings back and forth while the engines try to maintain balance. After 12 seconds, the Saturn V finally leaves the launch tower behind and is on its way to the moon.
      The companies that built this tech in the 60's moved on to other things. Why? Because NASA stopped buying the tech to go to the Moon, because Congress stopped funding the Moon landings

    • @wjerame
      @wjerame 2 года назад +10

      @@zdcyclops1lickley190 Nah, thats like a copy paste from the history channel lol I know that story. But why would nobody else go to the moon, and why wouldnt the tech have gotten cheaper and cheaper. Why did russia or china not go, how do you go from the leader to hitching rides with china and russia. These are real questions that you don't know the answer to. So why be so angry. If you follow the current moon missions its kind of alarming how much more its taking than aluminum foil and pocket watches. I stand by it, its nearly a crime if we did all that to just give up and walk away for 50yrs. You could build an identical setup as apollo today, it would be dirt cheap compared. So why doesn't anyone just do that. If we had a setup that went so many times why did nobody copy it or repeat it for 50 yrs. Im not looking for a conspiracy, I've never really seen a serious look into why nobody has been back other than the shallow answer you seem happy accepting. This is the problem with thinking you know everything. Its stopping us from even looking. Just believe what uncle sam tells you and shut up basically.

On several of the Apollo moon landings filmings...YOU SEE THE IDENTICAL HILL IN THE BACKDROP ... The whole Apollo narratives is like a big riddle there are many clues which both hide and give away the truth of the Apollo fictionalized narratives. You just need to solve the riddle

    • @blo0mfilter868
      @blo0mfilter868 3 года назад +9

      @@Mooseracks agreed. it's fake as hell. People often forget how advanced the nazis were during WW2. The nazis built rockets, they hollowed a mountain to be used as a damn complex military base that even has silos, huge artillery guns that rival that of a scifi movie, had plans for an arctic base and an arctic prison, had plans for a satellite solar weapon, etc. They were really so far beyond anyone else.
      The real reason why NASA couldn't get to the moon, is that the nazis got first and built a huge militarized lunar base. That's why the US and USSR had to hire a bunch of nazi scientists and manufacture a huge propaganda to push their citizens to support the space race, despite there being zero incentive to travel beyond the Earth at the time (and even now). And now that those captured nazi scientists are dead, we've seen a very slow progress on space tech. It's a very long conspiracy that extends to the hollow earth (and moon) theory, tesla's discovery of free energy which helped the nazis got into the moon, and draco/reptilians.
      Look into it, perhaps you can start with the air force manual in the 60s talking about several races of extraterrestrials or look into operation high jump, which is a disguised US navy operation on the arctic. Ask yourself why would the US bring a fleet big enough to crush almost any country at the time (1947) to the arctic? Quick answer: to capture a nazi arctic base used as a space port. the US was defeated and Admiral Byrd had to go to Argentina to repair his ships.
      This sounds crazy at first but once you dig into it, it'll blow your mind and you'll find it easier to connect the dots on world events like here's a couple examples
      1. the increasing number of UFO sightings and rocket failures such as that of SpaceX recently. The increased UFO sightings are the nazis (CIA records show the earliest UFO sightings being linked to nazis, see nazi disks) destroying the space faring and propulsion research the governments are doing.
      2. COVID-19 pandemic: similar to how Stalin bombed his own cities to deny supplies for the nazis, the pandemic is a manufactured bio weapon made by the world government to lower the number of nazi infiltrators in the population. Notice how the US is the most affected country in the world. The country that imported the most number of german scientists and high ranking military officials after the war.

    Everyone can agree that we are moving 1,000 mph standing on the equator.... but the earth is orbiting around the sun... about 60,000 mph.... but since the earth is turning aren't you speeding up for 12 hours and slowing down for 12 hours... but, hey. Isn't the sun orbiting around the galaxy.... and the whole universe is expanding... in other words once you leave the safety of earth, and what are those rockets pushing against in a vacuum, they can probably never return.... since we are already traveling so fast already....

So, You don’t understand how rockets actually work? Strange… And, since Earth always orbits the sun, it’s meaningless to discuss how fast it moves through the space or how fast space expands.

A radio signal can be transmitted through space very easily, and it travels at the speed of light, so reaches us fairly fast, around 4.5 hours from Pluto. Radio waves are electromagnetic, not vibrations.
