I loved him anyway. I lived in New York. Attended his concerts, 14th street Manhattan. Fox theater, Brooklyn.
Loved him, musicians in my family. Delphonics, Johnny Mathias. Ruby Dee and her husband Ossie Davis, actor/actress. Could go on, but a lot of rummaging through the brain cellar. Those were the days.

Hell is real and was not created for humans but for Satan and all his demons (all the fallen angels who chose to follow him) but many people will go and spend eternity there, including all LGBTQIA2S because that lifestyle is an abomination to God (Leviticus 18:22; 20:13; Romans 1:26-27; 1 Corinthians 6:9-10).

The sad thing about this is that many people who suspected he was gay didn't care. Luther's voice was pure magic and that's what mattered most. We pay entertainers to do just that. We shouldn't expect a concert ticket or record sell to grant access into their personal lives. I have mixed feeling about Patti exposing his sexual orientation. While she probably meant no harm, she should have left it his secret. Anyway, may one of the greatest vocal legends in music history RIP.

I got to meet Luther briefly many years ago. He was a character in the film Meteor Man. I was the standby medic on the set one night. Although the meeting was only for like 2 mins. he was very gracious and personable. I already enjoyed his music, but after seeing that he wasn't your typical arrogant Hollywood type, I enjoyed his music even more. His secret doesn't mean a thing. And his music lives on.

I concur with a considerable number of comments regarding his sexuality which is really none of my business. I became aware of this many years ago and saw Mr. Vandross perform in a London night club and Wembley. His music resonated with me captured emotions when I had been romantically involved. He delivered an a musical artistry which I and millions more enjoyed and will forever enjoy. I respect people who want a private life and he had not been using nothing of mine or trying to force issue around his sexuality on me. I like many in the black community, we respect whoever you are or what you want to be. I have worked with ,stayed in dorms with and will employ and break bread with gay, lesbian or whatever. They respect me and I respect them.I do not have to engage in what they do. I treat people as human. May be years of military life , boarding school and travel makes one think like a human..Peace & love to all
That is the message in most of Mr. Vandross' songs. RIEP Mr. Luther Vandross

Many people in the business rock that way. Those on the outside, that didn’t grow up to his music, wouldn’t know the difference. We really didn’t care. He was one the best singers of his lifetime. His phrasing was phenomenal. How he was able to connect his chest voice with his head voice, with a quiet serene delivery was amazing. While most singers were focusing on who’s the loudest, he became the smoothest. Him & Marcus Miller did some really good work. A persons sexual orientation has nothing to do with success. He just had it. R.I.P. to a New Yorker!.
