I have one of the fine mesh stainless strainers in my tub(and sink) after every shower, I have a spoonful of hair that takes me a whole 3 seconds to pinch and put in the trash can. In 40 years owning the house, have never had a clog!

On some sinks that had pop up stoppers, I removed them and installed one that just sits in the drain and has a push on/off stopper, and a basket on it that catches most all hair. Yes, you have to clean it every once in a while, but they work well and seem to prevent a lot of clogs. I ordered a few from Amazon and Temu, as there are several sizes. Some are plastic, some are metal.

You can take that lever out through the overflow.You undo the screws, and then just pull it up. But be gentle You don't want anything to break. Because there's not a lot there holding it together.

typical bathtub issue maybe not normal the size but the issue...homeowners who watch these types of tutorials should see how ineffective drain cleaners are against these types of stoppages...muriatic acid would ease it somewhat over a period of time but the acid could destroy the pipes if metal so best case is to auger the drain

What if the tub has the lever in that overflow cap to close the stopper, can you still snake it from there?
