My husband was a fabulous piper and died unexpectedly in January. We played this song at his committal in the crematorium ... not a dry eye, but everyone loved the beauty of this song which skipinnish deliver perfectly ... thank you Skipinnish x
Mark Knopfler composed ‘Piper To The End’ as a tribute to his uncle Freddie, Lance Corporal Frederick John Laidler, a piper of the 1st Battalion, Tyneside Scottish, The Black Watch, RHR, who carried his pipes into action and was killed with them at Ficheux, near Arras, on the 20th of May, 1940, aged 20.”
This is a Mark Knopfler song off his wonderful 'Get lucky' album - a tribute to his formative years in Glasgow - along with 'Border Reaver' (about the Albion lorries) and Glasgow shipbuilding (Born on the Clyde). I would love to see Mark and his band with these boy's, Skerryvore or Runrig - a Geordie like me but with deep Scottish link's.
Descendant born in North Yorkshire, Ripon actually and is where I have moved back to and fuck have I missed it here, yeah descendant of the Bruce's myself haha!My dad's from Newcastle going back further most of my family being Scottish!
See myself as being a Bruce quite literally! Comes from my grandmother my dads mothers father his grandfather haha, my great grandfather who I see quite literally as my hero Andrew Bruce in my family, yeah my family hero haha, though he died before I was born if I could end up like he did on his death bed and still be making jokes haha!!! Saw on a fellow former Runrig band fan friend of mine haha (though still a friend on facebook of course haha yeah I'm loyal alright haha) I had no idea that Norrie would accept my friend request, great lad is Norrie!

Great Marc Knopfler song. Robert Robertson has a beautiful voice and the pipes are fantastic!

Skipinnish at their very best. Saor aAlba.
This song was written by Mark Knopfler of Dire Straits. it’s about his Uncle who died in WWll. Every time I listen to it I get a tear in my eye…

brilliant
Not Mark but not bad. True to the tradition and well done.
Indeed.
Now we need Done With Bonaparte
Lovely song but the camera angle is horrible.
Much better with the pipes playing.
