We're not even making it as 2 adults on 10.50/hour, and we're eating .50$ meals, occasionally less than 3 or 2x/day. Buy "colored" pasta - 2 adult meals - which have veggies in the pasta. Use soy for protein, ($1/1lb or .0625/1oz -- 1lb=3cups, and an adult serving is 1/3c); beans (black, Lima, black-eyed peas), potatoes, frozen mixed veggies, rice -- keep the water used to boil /everything/ as broth for soup when you get meat!, eat chicken - the fat is good for you, eat tangerine, raisins and bananas (potassium - don't eat too much, though, or heart attack - too little and you pass out!), pumpkin and sweet potato are loaded with Vit-A, and get the cheap store cereal to encourage you with sweetness as well as provide Vits and Mins, etc. if you get simple all-purpose flour, you can add cal and nutrition, because they enrich it (not self rising - too much salt, and everything foams up when contacts water). You can use the flour to thicken soups/broths, make gravies, enable thinner foods to last longer, stabilize the consistency and fullness of meals, and if your blend/grind down those cereals, add leavening (salts - baking powder/soda) and some oil/shortening/other fats including eggs, you can make a cake or bread that is healthier than the cereal on its own! Get instant pudding pouches to cheat on egg and dairy!!! Use shortening to lube up your baking pans/sheets! __ Despite knowing all this and more, never going out for any entertainment, not owning a vehicle, being just as efficient in all other purchases, and searching for work to provide a second income, etc., we're actually starving. Sincerely, literally. We pay full rent and utilities for an apartment, and we've no one to help us, because we've no friends or family. And, we're about to lose Medicaid because we "make too much". Absurd.

listen, there are a lot of things that i need to say. The first is that if minimum wage is increased, small businesses die because they can;t pay workers. what also ends up happening is now that everyone has more money, it is worthless so businesses will increase their prices on everything because now they aren't getting money that is worth anything and they have to pay workers more. This is called inflation. This means that increasing the minimum wage increases the price of everything else. The reason that candy bars used to be 10 cents and are now around 2 dollars is because the minimum wage keeps increasing.

The second is that minimum wage jobs aren't meant to be there for people to make a living on. They are there for teenagers who want some extra money and retired people who already have savings but want a steady income of some extra money. Another thing is that promotions exist for a reason. The only way that you make minimum wage is if you have just been hired. my parents both have degrees and we are still lower-middle class. If you have a family you can't work at a low skill job. there is a reason you get paid minimum wage and that is because usually that job doesn't require a degree, that costs money, and skill like other jobs. construction workers get paid better because they work hard and are skilled at what they do. a cashier does not require much skill to do their job.
