Little story for this: After ending up in this weird & twisted dimension, Sonic looked for a way back to his own world. Falling to old habits, he went to find the Tails of this world, only to find this world’s Sonic……. or rather what he THOUGHT was this world’s Sonic. His limbs were twisted, blood pouring out of his vacant eyes, his quills made of some kind of weird crystal, a crazed grin plastered on his face. Then, he saw them. Tails, Knuckles, and even Eggman all standing beside this thing, but they were mangled and lifeless, as if they were living corpses. The imposter talked about how much fun he’d have twisting apart Sonic with the help of his “puppets”. Sonic barely listened, his focus solely on the three walking corpses. The blue hedgehog could feel his rage and anger bubbling to the surface, the Chaos Energy in his body reacting to said emotions and feeding them even further. He growled at the thing(cause there was no way in this world or any other was it him) to shut it’s filthy mouth. He was angry, angrier than he’d ever felt in his life, and he was gonna take all that anger out on this imposter, this THING pretending to be him!
EXACTLY! Let's say, Sonic's first set of sprites has him looking somber, guiltridden over seeing Tails, Knuckles, and Eggman in the states they're in, and every time it switches to Xeno, Sonic takes on a much angrier stance, clearly pissed at what Xeno did to his friends, an enraged scowl on his face.
I like to think of this as Sonic doing everything he can with what little power he has left to be there for his friends, who are still alive, but barely escaping the monster who possessed him. (Sonix and Xenophane could be battling in his mind, fighting for control.)

Edit: Also can you Bonedoggle but Papyrus, Sans, Sonic and Tails sing it? Edit 2: Oh and also Sunshine? Edit 3: Oh and also Meowgen and Scratch Post?
Let's take a moment to tell a story:Sonic was just running around in green hill when he found a red ring he entered it and found him self in green hill again he kept running and he found tails buy he was gray and his other tail was gone and then knuckles and even eggman then he saw what looked like him he got confused and started to get worried about his pals cause this imposter looked evil so then he asked him to a race and he got beat and got angry and started to grabs his pals but they didn't move and tails said he's our new master sonic and sonic saw a ring he entered it and was back home or so he thought....
