He was wrong for taking her word and taking out a loan so he should learn from that and I think her lesson is to be careful with her words. I know it’s easy for her to not always say the truth but to not be honest with an indie business can really damage someone’s life. This is not a mascara, if she was busy then say so, if you didn’t want to do it…say so. That’s should be her lesson. Love y’all!

Never watched the Ace Family but I really felt for Catherine when y’all said that she basically put her happiness last so her family can stay together. So many women carry this burden & guilt & choose to stay coz of it. I’m glad they chose to end it coz honestly kids love HAPPY PARENTS.

I think the biggest key of the story that wasn’t mentioned was the review was a FAVOR, an added bonus. He didn’t pay for an ad, no sponsorship, no contracts, nothing. Why does he expect that she even owes him a review in the first place? His behavior was so ugly and entitled. I will say, she shouldn’t have doubled down on the promise and still not deliver.

As a viewer, I think it’s best that you stop talking about Mikayla’s drama . Only cause it’s very biased (especially on mannys side). Mikayla could have really affected this small business owner by not keeping her word. And although I understand your point Manny, about not depending on others for your products to sell out , you have to admit that you have a bigger platform to promote your brand. A lot of small businesses do not have that, especially if they’re just starting out. And although you are a small brand yourself, you still have a bit of leverage because of the name that you built in the beauty community. Anyways, love the podcast, but when a person is wrong it’s cause they’re wrong. Both sides did damage here, and could’ve handled it different. Also thanks Laura , for seeing both sides and not being biased.

Yikes, you guys clearly defaulted to defending Mikayla when she was clearly in the wrong. Especially Manny judging Matthew’s delivery in defending himself, which was well done and not at all how Manny describes it. Matthew clearly made some shotgun choices that put him financially in jeopardy, but Mikayla just clearly wants the benefit of popularity without the accountability of her position. Big swing and miss, guys.
And to be honest, this really is a disappointment to see Laura in Mikayla’s defense because of how intensely she claims to have the backs of small businesses. If Mikayla made an effort to work with indie brands ahead of posting a review, they could prepare for the influx of orders. Her making that statement was just reasoning away taking the big checks from big companies and not giving a crap about small businesses who can’t pay her fees. She just doesn’t want to put in the effort to make it work, which is sad.
Also side note, pretty telling how Tana and Brooke have the complete opposite view as you. Maybe take their lead on this one.
