I had the pleasure of working at Merritts in my twenties and I learned more about boats in three years than most people do in a lifetime. These beautiful boats are floating pieces of furniture.

Growing up in S. Fl. am admittedly biased towards Rybo’s and Merritt's. Love seeing Michael and family truly preserving and advancing this legacy. Seeing the process of true craftsmen taking pride in their work and the finished product is awesome! These yachts stand tall, if not head and shoulders above most others in the world. You sail anywhere and a Rybo turns heads, stunning! Made my day. Thanks!

Most interesting tour you've done, Dan. Because of his heritage, Michael is a walking encyclopedia of sport fishing craft and clearly has a handle on the yard's operations down to a master suite that's just been clear coated.
Definitely want to see a followup story on that 62 when she floats.

Thanks for watching it, Alan! You just convinced me to go back and get aboard the 62, thanks for twisting my arm! ;-)

That's what you call a hands-on owner. That man knows every inch of his family's business. More than impressive.

Amazing they're still going. I did a few service calls to the old yard in the 80s. True dedication to perfection of traditional building of boats with modern materials

Id be thrilled to be involved and employed with this crew. I lived in South Florida for a number of years and worked as a licensed plumber by trade. Im Currently in my home state of Massachusetts, still in the trade but looking to relocate back down as my son is of age. After 25 years in the plumbing industry, Im looking to introduce my passion for boating with my everyday routine in my work life.

I just saw the CORSAIR for sale on line , a 1963 aft cabin w/cockpit 50 out of South Hampton. (Rybovich of course) Absolutely magnificent looking -stunning; blew me away.

Great timeless boats. But the presenter couldn’t be less enthusiastic about what he is doing. More interested in what the welders are doing than the 1949 boat.

Very interesting tour. Somebody script some questions for Dan. He seemed awkward at times. IMO, a fish out of water.

Dude you better hit the books on how fiberglass construction goes. He kind of embarassed you there at the end if you are writing for a yachting magazine.
