    This episode will show you some of the things I did immediately following the LCL knee injury.
    If you just popped your knee, hurt your knee, in jiu-jitsu, or any sport for that matter, it's very important to start the recovery process immediately. There is a direct result between how quickly you receive treatment for your knee pain, and how fast you will recover.

    Going for a buggy choke, cranked and heard a loud pop and it felt a bit like cracking knuckles. No pain, so kept rolling.
    After training walked around a market no problem, got home and the knee pain started at rest. Left hand side mainly, slept and next day pain worse throughout full knee.

    What causes the loud POP when the LCL doesn't "snap"? I had an extremely loud audible POP yesterday in BJJ with minor discomfort. With some ice and rest yesterday and more on the plan for today. I am just curios what actually POP's? Thanks....

    Had a loud pop last night while going for some random leg lock. There was alot of stress on my lcl and there was a loud pop. I was warming up to go compete on a stage and I was the main event so I had to go and roll super hard afterwards. Last night, I felt instability in my leg but I could still run around and whatnot. Today my leg is completely rekt. I'm limping everywhere I go and can't bend or straighten my leg without serious pain. I hope my shit isnt completely torn. Gonna schedule an MRI but who knows how long itll take to get an appointment

    Good day 👋
    LCL needs to pop back in place. Seen 5 drs and NO damn answers. Physical therapy with 2 different chiropractors didn’t help. They did the same exact exercises, little muscle/pain machine, ice. Waste of time and money :/
    Who am I specifically looking for to help me?
    I just need it popped back into place. No tears (had mri & X-ray) no pain really. It just doesn’t glide correctly and it sucks. I messed it up getting in to my friends truck. I had to use the running board and grab on a handle to hoist myself in. Put too much pressure on outer side of knee. That’s all it took to pop lcl outta place. It’s happened before getting into the truck. Twice I got it to snap/click/pop back into place but this time I’m screwed.
    I thought I could just live with it till I transition yet it’s been over 2 years and I can’t take it anymore. Pain has collected below my outside ankle along my foot for months.
    I watched countless videos but I can’t fix myself.
    Soo tired of this. It’s getting old. I’m getting older. And it’s hard to walk. My insurance doesn’t cover laser or acupuncture. Broke af. I need help 😭
    thank goodness the truck is long gone 😅

    I recently popped my left knee going for a gogo but it didn’t really hurt in the moment or after but the next day , two days later I can squat and fully extend my leg but there’s small pain when my leg goes back, should I seek dr or just stay out the mats for a bit ?

      The pain should start to feel better in a few weeks but the rehab will take a while to really complete if you want to train BJJ!

    Hey Doc,
    Got caught in “lockdown” in my opponents half-guard today. He jerked to straighten my leg out, and my knee popped loudly. Not much initial pain, but here I am, a few hours later, and it’s stiff and sore. Before the pain set in, walking was fine. Squatting was fine. Any lateral movements felt unstable and loose, but didn’t really hurt. When I fully extend my leg, bottom of my kneecap feels like it’s not locking properly. Not asking for a diagnosis, (unless you have one) but any advice or initial thoughts?

    • @DrJoshJagoda
      @DrJoshJagoda  2 года назад +2

      You are likely going to start feeling the pain and discomfort within the 24-48 hr mark. If you can, use Ice, Laser treatment, Acupuncture. Start looking for a therapist or some who can guide you on your rehab so that once you are back you can do it. We do offer a jiu-jitsu specific rehab course you may want to check out online at sandiegospineandsport.com/shop/

    Hey Doc, popped my right knee (2 pops) while playing a lapel lasso guard. No pain right away and only pain in the position you show at 0:43. Been icing, light rehab, and wearing a compression sleeve. Been about 5 days and outside of the right knee is still a little tender. Love the videos! Would these exercises help? Don't want to jump onto the mat right away so looking for a recovery time and what you think it is.

    • @DrJoshJagoda
      @DrJoshJagoda  2 года назад +2

      I hope you are feeling better and thanks for watching. Some of these exercises should help for sure. Under the video, I did place a FREE PDF that can help. It varies but I would say that you are looking to start feeling better around the 8-10 week mark. I can still feel my LCL and its been 14 weeks with rehab, so everyone's healing and injury is different.

    I just popped my knee in bjj last night. When I was rolling with my friend, I was aware my knee was in a weird position but I didn’t think it was that bad. We both heard it pop and stopped immediately.
    I knew it was my knee but didn’t really feel anything at the moment. I was more in shock at the sound. I was sitting there expecting the pain to kick in any second but it just felt weird more than anything. I wasn’t in pain but I could tell it wasn’t normal and something was off.
    I expected it to be worse the next morning. Now here I am the next day and my leg is definitely worse. I can barely bend it without pain. I can walk and put weight on it, I’m just unsure how stable it is or if there’s real damage.
    Should I get it checked out? Could it just be swollen? Should I ice and wait a few days to see if there’s any improvement on its own? Hoping it’s just a sprain. Thanks!

    • @DrJoshJagoda
      @DrJoshJagoda  Год назад

      If you have the chance, its a good idea to get checked and treatment. Having a good rehab guide is very important to getting back on track and back into BJJ properly.

      @oleXmasTrees Fortunately, I did not need surgery. I never even went to the doctor.
      I'm fully recovered and back to business as usual with my bjj training. Now I'm just very aware of avoiding awkward positions to prevent another injury. I recently started doing ATG split squats following the teachings of Ben Patrick, the Knees Over Toes Guy.
