I like Castle Inn for the family suites. They are rooms with 2 bedrooms. One room has a king size bed the second room has two queen size beds. I like that they have free parking and offer parking at a nearby parking structure for $20 if you are going home after your last day at Disneyland not staying an extra night. It’s really quiet here as well.
We stayed here in 2017. I will say this for Castle Inn and Suites - the staff members were very accommodating. Our 14-hour flight from Sydney landed at 8am, and we knew we'd have two very tired kids by then, so we asked if we could check in early - and they said yes (plus there was no extra charge). We were there and having a much-needed nap by 10am!
We stayed here in March and had a very positive experience. The room was clean, our shower pressure was fantastic, the beds were fine, and the parking was Free. We booked with our Magic Key discount which at that time came in less than the candy cane inn. The Castle Inn and Suites is a family run business. And they were super friendly and accommodating for us. They had ecv rentals available in their lobby. They hung on to our bags before check in and after check out. We didn’t use their pool as it was too cold. But would if it was warmer out. It was less than a ten minute walk to the park. I have stayed at all the resort properties, and when we want a mini break, we go here instead. Sure it’s not fancy; but honestly most of the hotels on Harbor side aren’t either. If your shower was running hot/cold and the walls were leaning in, why didn’t you speak to them and get a different room? I think this was a harsh critique. I prefer it when you mention the pros, cons, costs and give a statistical average. It’s not high on amenities, but as a motel, I guess I don’t expect as much? When I want amenities, I book properties that offer these. I look forward to our next stay. We will be back again and again. And also… Interesting how you plug Candy Cane when it’s not a Get Away property. And your with getaway now. Are your reviews even fair or objective?
I feel that providing our honest opinions whether the hotel is with Get Away or not is fair and objective. I plugged Candy Cane because I love it and we had a much better experience. Whether we are with Get Away or not doesn’t take away my responsibility to be fair and honest. I’m so glad to hear that you had an awesome experience and love it. I’m not trying to downplay that at all! I just wanted to share our experience. For clarification, it wasn’t the walls that were leaning, the actual balcony walkway for all rooms was seriously dipping. They know about it I’m sure. It would be hard to have cleaning personnel walk the pathway every day and not know.
@@SoCalDisneyDad I can respect that you have your favorite's. I think we all do. But I also think maybe you came into the castle with candy cane expectations, and castle never claimed to be like castle. Sort of like you decided to not like it before opening the room door? IDK, just a vibe I got watching this video. We really loved the free parking at Castle Inn, and when I priced Candy Cane, they were more expensive, so I suppose it will depend on what rates/rooms are available at the time you book. I mean, I scored rooms for $100/nt at the Anaheim Majestic Garden when they had a flash sale. And they have a free shuttle and breakfast like Candy Cane does. I used to be a travel agent and am now retired from that. But when I was booking trips I always tried to give a fair and unbiased opinions. I guess I felt your opinion was not unbiased. My family isn't big on breakfast, so we want to get up and get out. We are gone most of the day and it's close enough to stop back in for a rest break when the park gets super crowded. This motel is a good value and worth consideration if looking for a budget location.
@@Girlgonegoofy I hear you for sure! That’s possible. I never thought of it that way. Not sure exactly what I expected, truthfully. The mask thing was minimal. Probably just a combination of all of those things?
I highly doubt Candy Cane is lower than Castle, it's definitely around 225 and up, probably due to modeling and the proximity. Out of the hotel/motels, castle is definitely the cheaper budget hotel of them all.
I’ve been staying at this hotel since I was 2 coming to the parks and although we’ve tried a couple others around NOTHING beats this one. The walk is so convenient especially if you have little ones (I despise shuttles). Unless your trying to have a full breakfast here like other hotels, this might not be the one for you. But it’s my overall pick every year
I know a lot of people like it. Chris Provost, like you, has been going there since he was a kid and he LOVES the hotel. Personally, I find the Candy Cane across the street to be superior. We’ve definitely stayed at places that aren’t as good as Castle Inn, too. I might have just had my expectations set too high? I don’t know. I’m glad you love it though! When you find the spot that’s great for you, it’s a good feeling like coming home when you visit.
I am a vendor that delivers baby rental gear around the area - The owners are older and there are 1 or 2 in their community that are immune compromised - they are a tight group that have been working together for over my 13 years that I have been in business serving their guests. (in reference to the masks)
They don’t require you to wear masks. I think if they ask you to wear a mask you should oblige. But they don’t. As you know, people are still dying from Covid. Just saying.
We stayed there in 2021. I don't remember the bed, but I remember being happy with it. We booked with get away today for a full hotel+ticket package, so I didn't look at hotels that they don't work with. Would definitely have preferred one with breakfast like Candy Cane. The walk was better than the time before that, so that was a win for us. We are staying at Desert Inn and Suites next time and I'm excited about being that close to the parks.
I stayed here last week, similar review. One thing I'd say is the bed was far more comfortable than the one I had at Fairfield Anaheim next to Panera (which was slightly more posh, but farther walking distance). Fairfield had a stiff bed and I woke up sore. I liked that Castle had a Magic Key discount, but for my next trip I'll take a look at Candy Cane. I didn't know that one existed until I saw this video. As far as Castle Inn, I've stayed at worse and better but was happy with my stay there.
I really appreciate you guys checking out hotels, near to Disneyland, and giving us your thoughts. I have been curious to know about them, since I won’t be staying at the Disneyland hotels any longer. Parking is just too ridiculously priced for me now. The only reason I was staying at the Disney Hotel, was because of Oogie Boogie Bash. My legs ached so badly, I enjoyed having a place close by where I could just pass out .
The Best Western Park Place Inn is actually closer to the parks than the Disneyland Hotel is. It’s awesome for returning to your room during the day and after a long park day at night.
Definitely got to come here expecting a budget hotel, as that's what it is, it is at the lower end of the high price hotels that's closer to the entrance of DL. And sorry it's still cheaper than Candy cane, where do you see candy cane cheaper cuz I'd love to know! Also note to others, Candy cane remodeled so of course it's going to look and feel way better than one that needs it. You are right about the pathway, I was on the 4th floor last October and it definitely was sloped as well. I didn't care for the ice machine being in the first and 3rd floor. My advice is to buy toilet paper, which is pretty rough at their motel. I hear about the bed being uncomfortable and I found that it was comfortable for both my daughter and I. The water pressure though was so low. Again I went late October, even then we weren't mandated with wearing mask in the office or elevator, they don't police, they had a sign next to the elevators, it's really no big deal. So if you're looking for a closer walk, definitely love that it was a close walk, for the good price definitely go through getaway for this motel. Also in comparing with other motel and budget hotel/motel, this is one of the few that offers nice deep dressers and 2 tables with chairs and a microwave.
We stayed at Candy Cane for $199. After double checking, Castle was also $199. So they were the same price. But Candy Cane has breakfast, so that “cost” can be factored in too.
Any opinion on the Anaheim Portofino just next to the Hilton? We’re between that location, Candy Cand (based on availability), and the Anaheim Hotel. All nice and close for a quick walk!
The only one of the hotels listed we’ve stayed at is the Candy Cane. We are slowly working our way around to the different hotels. We’ve done about 10 now maybe?
@@SoCalDisneyDad Always difficult to book a new spot when you’ve grown accustom to a favorite. We’re just like you guys to where we’ll be at the parks late, so a comity horizontal bed is all we really require.

Thanks for the warning & honest review. I'm staying at The Anaheim Hotel next, I love the retro vibe & private patio. My second choice would be Candy Cane if I didn't already book Anaheim Hotel. Disney Hotels overly priced in my opinion.
No water bottles for the free coffee? Haha. Thanks for the review, but I'll stick with our recent choices (Hotel Lulu), a little bit farther but CVS is around the corner.
Awesome Traver - I have a reservation there for May - interesting and now know what to expect and considering the price compared to some other good neighbor hotels in the area close to Disneyland- get what you pay for. Coming from Australia the costs are really impacted by the exchange rate so can be difficult to chose from based on price. As we intend Spending all day in the parks and getting an instacart order first thing - hopefully we will be too tired to mind the stiff bed and will fill our fridge, lol. Thanks for the heads up😍
Ultimately, it’s just a place to sleep. You spend all your time in the parks. So I can never justify paying for the expensive hotels. I have never stayed at any of the Disney hotels (and I really want to). I’ve also never stayed at the Courtyard by Marriott with the awesome looking water park on the roof because it’s too costly.
@@SoCalDisneyDad we stayed at the Paradise Pier in concierge level in 2013 - cost around $500 per day back then so can’t imagine the cost today. It was ok and we did get concierge access for continental breakfast type foods (bagels, cereal etc) and access through the day but being in the parks all day until late evening precluded accessing the snacks etc so was not really a cost effective benefit to us. Enjoyed being on property however would not shell out that money again in DLR - obviously WDW is different but so many options there to choose from as opposed to DLR properties 😀
@@donnamortensen959 I looked at staying at Paradise Pier when we do our next overnight excursion in June. It was $589 with taxes for a Park View room. Standard Room was maybe $60 cheaper.
Donna, we are Australian and stayed here. We have 2 kids. It was fine. It’s larger than most Australian motel rooms. There is a pizza place next door which was quiet good for a cheap meal and directly across the road is a teeny supermarket. We used the laundry while the kids were in the pool which was convenient (it’s the small building connected to the pool area). Enjoy your trip!
@@annepatterson6200 thank you Anne - it’s the first time staying at Castle Inn and Suites. Have corresponded with them since booking and they have been very helpful so can’t wait to get there - 21 days to go!
Imo people put way too much emphasis on being close to the park. A lot of these places are old, a little run down, and too pricey. There's a number of places farther down Harbor Blvd that are newer, nicer, and still competitively priced. It's $10 each way, with tip, for an Uber. I'm already putting in 25-30,000 steps. Don't need to tack on 10-20 minutes of walking at the start and end of my day.
I would agree that 20 minutes is too far. Stayed at the Clarion once a long time ago and it was killer at the end of the day. But any of the hotels in the 5 minute range are pretty manageable. A place like Candy Cane has a shuttle, too. So that’s nice.
@@SoCalDisneyDad Candy Cane is exactly what I'm talking about. It's a 2 star hotel. It's ok but you're paying for proximity. There's a much nicer 4 star Hyatt two miles down Harbor for roughly the same price. Everyone should do what makes them happy. For me that's staying in a nicer hotel a little farther away.
I like a hotel in walking distance. I don’t want the hassle or stress of parking or waiting for a shuttle or Uber. We like to rope drop and walking 5-7 minutes is the best. I’m ok with the quiet that is Castle Inn. My granddaughter loves to pretend she is a princess of the castle and had a whole story about how it belonged to her great great grandfather. Perfect for when you are visiting her princess friends at their castle👸🏰nearby
We're staying at Desert Inn in Dec. because of the price. I will not be expecting much. We will just be there to sleep. I heard the beds were not comfy so not looking forward to that. When we stay at WDW, we always rent a gorgeous VRBO house but couldn't find what we wanted in Anaheim.
I’ve never stayed anywhere but a Disney hotel at WDW. Even on my upcoming work trip next week, I’m staying at All Star Music (cheapest on-site I could find at about $125/night). I usually stay at Caribbean Beach (I’m obsessed with the Skyliner). What’s the main draw for the VRBO?
Comparing this to Candy Cane Inn's prices, I might just stay at Castle Inn on my next trip as Candy Cane as gone up ridiculous prices it seems. Nearly $400 a night for a room, compared to $180 at Castle Inn. If anyone could recommend a closer and relatively cheap as Castle Inn or I don't mind a little higher in price, I'd greatly appreciate it!
Candy Cane has raised their prices significantly in such a short time. I stayed there for $199 or thereabouts a year ago. We just stayed at the Anaheim Majestic in December and I feel like that hotel is in the $200/range. It has a free shuttle and is definitely better than Castle imo.
@@SoCalDisneyDad Thank you so much, is it a Anaheim shuttle? Like the ART buses? My family stayed at Cortanna Inn who used the ART buses but we could not figure out the app or its times at all.
@@FireFiend33 Nope. It’s a hotel shuttle. It’s completely free, and leaves the hotel at the top and bottom of the hour every hour from like 7 AM to 1 AM or thereabouts. It leaves the parks at the 15 and 45 marks on the hour, every hour.
@@SoCalDisneyDad This might be what I'm looking for then, thank you! I have plantar fasciitis so I've been finding ways to reduce how much walking I need to do in a day.
For a family of 6 you can't stay at Candy cane Lane. There are like 3-4 hotels that can accommodate that many people for the good distance by the gate. We booked here since it was the cheapest hotel near Disneyland that can hold a family of 6. Hoping it really itsn't that bad but ew have stayed in some pretty shady hotels in the past.
It’s not shady at all. I’d say it feels safe. The floor we were on and the room we were in just needed some renovations. I’ve heard many reports other rooms/floors aren’t as bad.
You can do that. Or you can book on Get Away Today. They can usually get you some extra savings. Some sort of deal or promo. Where Disneyland never runs promos on tickets. If you use my link in the description, I’ll get a small commission (no extra cost to you). And if you use my promo code on a hotel + tickets package, you can save an additional $10. But if you feel more comfortable booking direct, that is a viable option as well.
We slowly are hitting them all. I do intend to cover that hotel at some point, but couldn’t give you an firm date or expectation. We only stay over maybe once every two months or so. Next planned stay over is June 5th, though no hotel is booked yet.
@SoCal Disney Dad maybe just the rooms. They look outdated to me. If they have a USB charging, then yes. I had to charge my phone at the table. Nothing by the sofa pullout or the beds. We had the suite. I got stuck with the pullout. Let's just I will never go back.

And just to clarify- it has a regular pool, a hot tub and a kiddy pool. Not two hot tubs.
Thanks. We weren’t sure. The kiddy pool had the same jet-looking vents at the bottom as the hot tub.
You two are the best.
BTW what’s our best way to book a trip out there? We were assuming using Disneylands website?
You can do that. Or you can book on Get Away Today. They can usually get you some extra savings. Some sort of deal or promo. Where Disneyland never runs promos on tickets.
If you use my link in the description, I’ll get a small commission (no extra cost to you). And if you use my promo code on a hotel + tickets package, you can save an additional $10.
But if you feel more comfortable booking direct, that is a viable option as well.
We actually saw the link for Get Away after I wrote the comment. We didn’t see the Candy Cane hotel though.
@@cklo8799 No, that hotel isn’t on there. They aren’t on any websites. You have to book direct with Candy Cane.
@@SoCalDisneyDad Oh ok, thank you!
Are you doing these reviews on all good neighbor hotels? Can we expect one on Park Vue inn? 😬
We slowly are hitting them all. I do intend to cover that hotel at some point, but couldn’t give you an firm date or expectation.
We only stay over maybe once every two months or so.
Next planned stay over is June 5th, though no hotel is booked yet.
I went to anaheim in 05 when i was 7 and I remember a castle hotel😂
2:18 If I went into this bathroom, I wouldn't want to destroy the incredible swan towel.
It was amazing! Wasn’t it? I don’t think I touched it. 😂 There were other towels to use.
They do daily tidies so you would get a new swan every day😁
covid is still alive
my friend made this joke that the address of the Castle Inn was the year when the hotel was built.
😂🤣
Staying at the Candy cane inn for a week starting next Monday. Wouldn't stay anywhere else
It is a fantastic hotel for sure!
It's an ok hotel. Was there once 14 yrs ago. They need to update it. The lobby hasn't changed at all. Candy Inn all the way.
I saw someone’s review from a year ago that said it has been newly remodeled. Maybe just the rooms? But even then. 😬
@SoCal Disney Dad maybe just the rooms. They look outdated to me. If they have a USB charging, then yes. I had to charge my phone at the table. Nothing by the sofa pullout or the beds. We had the suite. I got stuck with the pullout. Let's just I will never go back.
Have you ever stayed at the Suncoast hotel?
I have not. I’ve actually never heard of it until you just mentioned it. Where abouts is it located?
@@SoCalDisneyDad I’m staying there in June when I travel from Australia! It’s on the corner of Disney Way and S Clementine St. looks to be about a 15 min walk to the parks.
This hotel desperately needs an update.
We are so glad you did this review as this is one we were thinking of staying at. Going to do some more research now! Thanks for the heads up!
To sea road because this is bad at Sea World sand eagle for the others by life

I love your stance on the covid protocols. I won’t stay there just because of the covid BS.
We obeyed them when they were state mandated, but were never happy about them. I’m in theme parks at least twice a week. I’ve gotten sick once in three years. 🤷🏻♂️
