Why Phone Cases Turn Yellow

- Clear cases are a great way to protect your phone while still showing off its color and design. But they have one flaw; slowly turning yellow. Which just makes your phone look old and dirty. So why does this happen? And is there any way to prevent it? Well, the yellowing is caused by a few factors. The first is oxidation.

Because the iPhone 15 yellow is so muted that all clear case manufacturers developed a color enhancing material more than a decade in advance to make the yellow more vibrant.

I got one myself, still not yellow and clear as hell the day I got it (Both 1.0 and 2.0)
DBRAND is just a better manufacturer of cases and skins. I’ve never had an issues with out of their products and the customer service is top notch.
official apple cases dont turn yellow either, ive had the same one on my iphone 12 mini since it released (4.5 years) and when i take it off its clear, third party cases i used to use on my other phones turned yellow in like half a year
@L33tSkE3t yeah but the sides are not clear, that's what normally yellows. A lot of times the back of the case doesn't yellow like the sides, and D brands clear cases have black sides.

putting the case in hydrogen peroxide in a Ziploc bag out in the sun is the best way to de-yellow the plastic. hydrogen peroxide and UV light has been the go-to method for many old-tech restoration enthusiasts.

It would be interesting to know why Apple and other competitors use a rubber-like material for their Magic Keyboard cases. They seem to collect and retain oils from your hands and fingers which is why they always look gross after some time. And they’re not easily cleaned if those oils are absorbed into the material.
The same thing as asking “Why does plastic turn yellow?”

That's why I went caseless after spending a stupid ton of money on the clear cases. Don't matter if its $2, $40, $50 they all yellow after some months I gave up. The phone can take falls anyways and I rarely drop mine

Better to get a clear case with coloured sides, that way you avoid the yellowing and still get to show off your phone colour.

I bought an iphone 16 recently and last had the iphone 12, i noticed how yellow my old clear case was when i was comparing both phones and honestly thought it was cus i smoke too much and that's what caused it lol
