I've been an Arabian horse enthusiast since I was about six years old. I currently care for a 33-year-old gelding. Over the years I've been more and more turned off by the way these beautiful, intelligent horses are shown and trained, especially in halter. The commenters who questioned what goes on out of the sight of the public are right to do so. If you watch these horses' behavior in the show ring, you'll get all the information you need to know that they are frequently dominated and abused. It's all so unnecessary. Far too many people involved in owning, breeding and showing Arabians aren't true "students of the breed." They lack knowledge about the history of the breed and and the breed itself has suffered. They are exploited for their beauty and bred for what's popular in the show ring. Like so many wonderful animals in our world, their value lies in what income they can generate. You need only to visit the horse auctions all over our nation to see what happens to those who are aren't deemed "living art." It's sad and I no longer want to be a part of it. I love them too much to see them psychologically and physically abused.
@@yomamasofatwhenshewalksshe2401 Oh, that's a wide open question! You can buy a fine, well-bred Arabian stallion with some basic training for as little as $5,000. From there, the sky's the limit. It's not unusual for Arabians to bring as much as a $ million-plus. But, just because a horse commands a high price tag it doesn't guarantee that the horse will be a quality breeding stallion. If you're considering an Arabian stallion, do your homework and study the breed's history before you invest your money in a horse.

What they do to these Arabs (behind the scenes) is absolutely sick...if you think this is pleasurable to watch --an animal full of fear and adrenaline it isn't -- if you have any sensitivity at all - this Arab horse show scene is something like a monster truck show in the level of sophistication of the spectator...this is also like the Roman Coliseum -- getting off on the distress of another being....what goes around comes around. Yes, Arabs are beautiful -- they don't need to be so amped up to appreciate it - just makes the whole thing look totally classless and cruel.
I know how some Walkers are trained. I’ve been around enough horses to know this one looked it was one step away of panicking. The fact it didn’t back up makes me think it been stalled and whacked with a whip. I hope I’m wrong. It’s a beautiful animal with the spirit of the desert in its soul.

Wow threatening the frightened horse with a whip? Absolutely disgusting. Those morons whooping like exited toddlers just make the horses more anxious. Such a real shame.

Seriously? Y'all commenting about the whip and the handler.....the horse is magnificently trained to stand perfectly, he is following the handler very carefully, even without the whip as you can see. And in arabian morphology shows the whip is not used for what you ignorant people thing as in equestrian disciplines.
I hate the internet. People talking abotu what they don't know. Get informed.
Que belleza
