Can you imagine if Ace would've saved Shock me and Rocket Ride for his solo album. Mind Blown.
If those two were on it instead of What's on Your Mind and I'm in Need of Love it would've been one of the greatest albums in rock history.
I personally much prefer I'm in need of love over Rocket Ride but I agree with Shock Me. One of the best Kiss songs ever.
So Ace would have had nothing on Love Gun or Alive 2 (studio)?

Paul's album has definitely grown on me over the years, but Ace's is my favorite solo album by far. The opening riff for Speeding Back to my Baby is just perfection!

It does. After all, Elvis Costello was starting to come on the scene at the time. BTW, my sister's friend started getting infatuated with me because she loved Elvis Costello, & I bore a resemblance to him. She was kinda cute. But I was too conservative in my thoughts and behavior to score with any girl at the time.

Definitely the best two of the solo albums, I would pick Ace. It really showed his ability and creativity. Paul's was what you would have expected
Paul's album was predictable in that it sounded the most KISS-like. Great album. I'd be lying if I said the opposite. But Ace's album was like an 18 wheeler that lost its brakes & the accelerator pedal got stuck to the floor of the truck.
@ true, Paul's sounded like Kiss, Genes radioactive was a great song, other than that it was odd. Pete's was a decent soft rock album. Ace on the other hand, heavy, groovy, and epic all rolled into one.

Ace 5 - Paul 4 a very tough battle this one. Both albums have their awesome and lesser tracks. It all comes down to what song one gets up to the other one.

Paul’s album is better than the credit you give. There are some good tunes on there. You don’t like move on...? Ain’t quite right is a cool tune too.

Ace album just rocks and more creative and to me stands strong today. Production just punches ya in the face. Jammed it on 8 track as a kid and nearly 45 now queens I still crank it. Paul had 3 or 4 decent tunes but I prefer genes over Paul's
I love move on great song ,it sounds like it’s got black girl backing singers that give it a lil old school R n B vibe to it ,only a pickle Whistler wouldn’t like it

The only song that I would disagree with is Its Alright. Would have chosen that one personality, but I have to agree 100% with you that Ace's solo album is by far the best of the four. Comparing it to Paul Stanley's really exposes the weakness of Paul writing skills - which would explain some of the albums in the 80s when Gene was mailing it in. Thanks for the videos. Ace is the best of the solo albums but I like them all.
I like Paul's solo album a lot. Ace's album is a gem. Ozone is my favorite Ace song of all time. If he just did his solo record live Ace would sell out every show with people losing their marbles.

As a 6 or 7 year old kid, the first album i bought was Gene's solo album, but something was wrong with it, it was scratched or something, so I returned it and got Ace's solo. The rest is Kisstory

I actually don't mind Paul's solo album, I like it honestly. Even so, it still doesn't even hold a candle to Ace's album. Ace's album owns.
It's amazing. I love both of these albums and as far as the solo records I always had the Ace and Paul albums tied IMO then Gene, then Peter. BUT...when you put them up Track to Track like you did, it actually changed my opinion MORE. Ace DESTROYS this album. Ace is now a distant lead over all of them. Thanks for setting me straight. LOL

Paul, Ace, Gene, Peter - order of best solo albums. Paul with a slight edge over Ace due to the song writing and vocals. Ace has some killer guitar work on his album and Gene gives some interesting twists on styles. Peter actually has some good songs but his drumming doesn't stack up.

They both are great in their own way. Paul is more musical but Ace rocks. Not all of Ace seems well written but Paul is written really good. It is not Ace's fault that he is not a great songwriter. Ace has his moments. Together as one has parts of another song that Paul used to make this one. I can't think of the name right off hand but if you heard them both they sound very similar musically. Lyrics are way different but the music is almost the same.
To the person that said "you can't choose that one because it's a cover." You're wrong. There are many songs for a better that are covers. To give an example
2000 man - kiss
New York groove - Ace Frehley
Hallelujah - Myles Kennedy
Fallen angel - amalee
those are just a few examples of times that covers are better than the original. (This is my opinion so don't take it too seriously)

Paul's is light years ahead of all the solo albums....I love Ace too, but that monotone simplistic singing compared to Paul is not even a contest.
Paul's is superior to Ace's lyrically, musically, and vocally. It's not even close. If we're being honest here Ace has two decent songs "Rip it Out" and "New York Groove". And the latter isn't even written by Ace. Ace doesn't have anything that comes close to Paul's strongest songs. Those being "Tonight You belong to me" and "Goodbye".
Consider this. If Ace wrote Tonight You Belong To Me with that Killer intro guitar, people would say what a great great "Masterpiece" Ace has here. Also, I feel "Snowblind" receives waaaaaaay to much credit. It's mediocre at best and the lyrics and singing is dreadful.
Ace was my favorite member in '78 but not because of his solo album. It was Paul's that kept me digging Kiss (sounds like a Kiss album) through a weird time after the movie came out.
NEVER apologise for liking Paul's better/best.

The reason I ask is that although southern rock they are extremely guitar driven,Gibson solos alike Ace with the 3 lead guitarists of Dave Hulbeck,Duane Roland and Steve Holand and the song structures are not far off of 70's Kiss. Told ya it was a bizare question

While I agree every song is good on the Ace album, for me the half album that I like from Paul's is excellent. I absolutely love You Belong To Me, Wouldn't You Like To Know Me, Take Me Away , Ain't Quite Right and Love in Chains. Kinda makes up for the rest of the album. Hold Me .Touch Me...ugh

Ace's solo album was an absolute masterpiece and Ace is my favorite member of Kiss. Unfortunately, he has not been able to duplicate that '78 solo album with anything he's done sense. Yes, he's had some good songs since then, but not an entire album like '78.

Out of all four solo albums I think Pauls sounds the most KISS (ish) and I love Paul as you know 😉 and the album .. but track by track and even as a whole ACE is the winner of solo albums of 1978 .. Love Ace ❤️ just seen him with Ratt in July and he was great as always 🙂👍
I hate to compare tho because both are completely different and I love both artists and they are both unique
