The multiple of 10 + 5 is wrong. Check this tutorial ruclips.net/video/C9P1_csvOEk/видео.html I believe that the multiple of 24 + 6 will work. Before I found that tutorial, I counted out the base sample shown above to be 54 stitches. The repeat is 24 stitches. Hope this helps.

Hi there, yes... the repeat is 24, but if you want symmetry on each end, you add 28. It will look like this - where I is a stitch and * is a ch and the repeat is within the ( ). This would be row one: IIII**(IIIIIII**IIIIIII**I**I**)IIIIIII**IIIIIII**IIII. So, ch 24,24,24 + 28 then another 3 for the beginning skipped 3 chains. I only add 1 and start with a row of SC, it makes the base more stable. For a somewhat oversized place mat size, I use 0.9 hook, size 10 crochet thread and start with a chain of 148.

I am also having prblems with the stitch multiple that was given at the beginning. From the reply you received, I don't think the maker understands that we need the correct stitch multiple. I have tried to figure it out and I keep getting it wrong. Working out stitch multiples are not my forte. It is very frustrating to have misinformation.

Looks identical and gives a multiple of 24 + 6. I've been stressing over this pattern for weeks after realizing that a multiple as given of 10 + 10 + 5 was wrong. I finally counted out the base sample shown above to be 54 chains. Then counted out the repeat of 24. It seems to be working. I'm also willing to bet that the 24 + 6 multiple will work as well.
